I'm a first year teacher (major career switch to teaching). I've watched so many of your videos. They are so extremely informative and helpful. I certainly hope you'll begin speaking at informative seminars as well! Your topics are very clear, concise, and relative. I specifically look for your videos for help on the topics I need! THANK YOU!
I just started teaching Kindergarten in January (graduated in December) and I've been watching your videos religiously! I feel like you're my online mentor :) Thanks for all of your videos! They're so helpful!
I am in my student teaching semester and we're actually learning about the different types of readings right now. You are AWESOME! It helped a lot! THANK YOU!!!!
we do shared and guided reading in my first grade class. I am taking a close reading course right now for re-licensure points and you helped me understand it a little better. Thank you so much for sharing!
I always try to provide students with their own copy of the text during close reading- Sometimes that means that I type it out myself. I notice that they are more engaged and it helps when you're asking them to locate details within the text to support their thinking...Close Reading has definitely grown on me.
Thank you for this video!! So great to hear an explanation from someone "in the trenches" instead of in a college classroom. Practical advice goes a long way! :-)
I'd just like to let you know, middle of last year during my gap year, I had the idea that maybe I would like to be a teacher. I looked up teacher vlogs to get an idea of what it would be like. Your videos convinced me to sign up to study at university. A month in to study, I am loving it and finding all the material so interesting. I can so see myself being a teacher and influencing young people one day. So thank you for being part of the inspiration that led me here!!
This video was so helpful! Thank you so much for making this video. I currently use close read and guided reading in my classroom, but I am always looking for ways to improve! You're awesome!
I just started planning for next school year and I want to learn more about close reading. Your video was very insightful and I will be using the 3 text that you mentioned in this video. I will be visiting your page to check out other videos and resources. Thanks for the information and keep those videos coming.
Thanks for the awesome video Bridget! I was just wondering if you could talk a little bit about parent/teacher conferences (I'm not sure what they're called there). I know you've briefly touched on this subject before but I'd like to know a little more detail as to how you and your partner teacher do it. Do you both do it together? Since you don't have report cards, what do you show? Etc.
What a great video! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas for the different types of reading lessons. I’m about to embark on some reading strategy research so this has been very helpful. Look forward to watching some of your other videos.
Love it!! I was wondering if you could give us an update on what you are currently doing in reading? are the book clubs done? If so, how did they go? :)
Bridget, would you please consider posting your questions for the close readings and poems for shared readings in your store for purchase? Great video, thank you!
I love love love when you take your time and actually teach us about certain things that are actually "teaching centered." Why I say this? Well, I love all your videos, but there are some videos that aren't informative in terms of teaching. Rather your focus sometimes leads quite the opposite. I suggest that your videos are centered mostly on the informative side such as teaching strategies etc. For example, what are the cool things you think it's important in the field of teaching, advice for new teachers (although you have a video about this) but perhaps some type of advice in regards to school administration or some issues you had to endure, creating lesson plans, etc. the list can go on and on rather than talking about random stuff not necessarily focused on teaching/school/college courses etc. I am sorry I don't want to be mean or rude, please I apologize if it sounds like it is. Know that I enjoy your videos very much but would like it to be more in the informational side about teaching like you did in this wonderful and detailed video. Have a lovely day. And keep rocking it!
I love this video..thank you for this...I do all three but the level reading is harder for me because we don't have level reading books...what do you recommend in this case...and also...when or how do you integrate Chapter reading books?? Would this be considered guided reading? Thanks! Blessings!
I really enjoyed this video, especially how you demonstrated specific examples and wording. Are there any teacher books you recommend for planning and running successful guided reading groups?
Thank you so much for this video! I took a ton of notes on it. What do the other students do while you are working with small groups during guided reading? I have seen students do independent reading and literacy stations. Is this also what you do? Thank you :)
Awesome! I've actually been considering doing a day study on the book Over and Under. Thanks for the tips. Your hair looks nice too. Makes you look super young :0)
Am I a horrible teacher because I want to record the "Johnny you're wrong" sound clip and play it to a student ASAP? 😂😂😂 Great video, but I died at that part.
