PocketPredator.com We have a lot of requests to give information on what is the best way to show kids how to shoot... Well I've shown far more than my share of youngsters how to shoot, and this is my general take on how it's done.
Nice of you to make this video....we need more people that have the patience to teach kids fun childhood things like slingshots canoeing campfire building and swimming.
Thanks Bill for the info. I have wanted to learn about sling shots since I was a kid 50 years ago but did not know where to get the info. I saw short tv clips of contest is in the southern U.S. states. with the internet it is now possible to spread the knowledge. Thanks for all your hard work.

You actually don't want to grab the pouch infront of the ammo because if you slowly release it will cause the pouch to catch your index finger and throw the pouch upward which then results to a lower shot. You grab the top and bottom of the ammo and don't hesitate to release
Kids can use black theraband or not very wide cut gold theraband just fine... just make sure you use a single strip per side and cut it to length accordingly... kids should have their bands be setup with a 5 to 1 draw ratio. So if the draw length is 25 inches the slack part of the bands should be 5 inches long. Also, start with a larger caliber ammo, like 1/2" marbles or steel... it allows them to grip it with more confidence.
When i went to thailand they told me to move the catapult forward instead of the string backwards. Kinda susprised me but he did managed to instantly kill a chicken from like 15yards distance with 1 single shot! (which we ate an hour later)

I've been trying to teach my 10 year old cousin he somewhat gets the concept but he thinks he understands and he understands the wrong way and he also has a horrible grip he bends his wrist down to shoot what can i do about that
Well, now I'm pretty confused. I've watched 5 or 6 videos, and the majority of them say you need to rotate the pouch-holding hand about 45 degrees in order to avoid hitting the slingshot frame or your hand, but this guy and maybe one other doesn't say that. So what's the correct way?
OK, thanks for the reply. I guess the feeling I was getting was that it was difficult enough to assure that you were shooting straight through the forks that you needed to rotate the pouch 45 degrees to pretty much insure that you wouldn't hit the forks or your hand.
hey there. You don't talk about the hand holding the slingshot when you shoot. I remember I shot my hand badly when I was a kid and I never had a slingshot after that. Did you shoot your own hand. please comment.
ananda brahmachari Just make sure you hold it perpendicular to your body. Don't aim downward at your fingers and try to always keep your fingers below the forks if possible.
Daniel Mensah It doesn't have to be the side of the mouth, just a set point. Like your shoulder or your nose, just pull it back to a set point. Also if it can't reach your face it probably won't shoot very far.
I'm no youngster and at point number 2 you lost me now sadly I'll never achieve my true potential and risk smashing the windows on the house next door when I was just aiming at their kids
No you don't, children have issues remembering multiple things at once. That's why standardized tests are done subject by subject. Their brains aren't developed enough, there are many steps to shooting. How to hold the slingshot, how to stand, how to shoot, where to shoot, what you do during, before, and after shooting, remembering not to breath during shooting etc etc. He is simplifying it sooo god damn much to make it much more your speed.
How does someone have trouble shooting a sling shot srsly grab handle put ammo in pouch pinch ammo in pouch then aim and let go its not hard who cares how you stand or what ammo you shoot personally i use small rocks just know two things:What happens if i hit my target and what happens if i miss my target I'm twelve and this is basic common sense not a seven an a half minute video
Aris Tarchinski How you stand and when you shoot does matters, it drastically increases accuracy. Just like with a gun you should take a deep breath, exhale, wait a few seconds without breathing then shoot. How you stand matters so you can apply more force to the slingshot. Don't act like you know things, everything you know, there are people who know world's more than you.
