It's great to hear that the girls are starting karate. It gives them self-esteem, and they learn to defend themselves. Two of my grandchildren started taking several years ago, and love it. My grandson was being bullied on the playground at school. He's no longer being bullied. His older sister has done so well that she almost has her black belt.

I just love your family!!!! Ive been a fan since your show and was devastated when it ended because your family was just a great wholesome Christian value family that we needed and still need to this day. I just love watching the show because i was raised an adopted only child and it always made me feel inspired and uplifted that there were still families as great as yours that was/is centered around Jesus Christ our Savior and was all about family and we still need that do this day so I am so very thankful that you guys are doing RU-vid to show small glimpses into your life and your wonderful family. I think you look adorable. It does seem a little out of place with the boots in the hot weather. But you wear the outfit well. But you need to play it smart and break them in. Maybe we were a little too hard on John, oops! Sorry John. John is pretty smart. Aw! the girls did super with their performance. Rhett was even clapping along. It is wonderful the girls are learning self defense. Also teaches them respect and discipline. Great job girls!
You look super cute in your boots! You're very smart to teach your girls martial arts. I had my 5 children in martial arts for years and it has benefitted them so much in their lives! It was money well spent!
The only thing I can say about Alyssa being embarrassed about wearing hiking boots is, when was the last time you actually noticed someone else wearing shoes that don't go with their outfits? No one really notices others. I promise you no one will care.

Decades ago we put a special wax on our boots. To make the water repellent. Then every once in awhile you had to do it again. That didn’t have to happen very much. Like once a year.
When we wanted to help break in our shoes(for volleyball) we would stick ziplock bags of water in them and then stick them in the freezer overnight. It would help stretch them out
Alysa, Jiu-jitsu would have been better and more practical or even Judo, Karate in the US had been severely watered down to the point where it has very little practical value
