Honestly, the shift to the slideshow instead of just the subreddit has upgraded the quality of these videos so much. Not only that, but it allows us to have even longer ASPITPIAY videos!
I like to think Cyrus just took good care of his Pokémon. Like emotionally unavailable but made sure they were well kept. And so his Pokémon are doing their best to keep him well kept.
That is literally how I characterize Kaiba in a Yu-Gi-Oh crossover Im working on. Hes not affectionate to his pokemon but doesn’t see the point in abusing them or pushing them too hard to get results.
A funny explanation as to how Cyrus has a Crobat is all of the stat boosting drugs like Carbos raise friendship. Cyrus just probably got his Golbat loaded on the stuff at night, it evolved, and he was just like “this is…acceptable.”
@@Solokeys-g7oit would also tie in with the Team itself who have the admin and grunt having unwavering loyalty tiwards Cyrus when he himself doesn care about them
Maybe he did it intentionally, knowing that vitamins boost friendship and his desire to have pokemon strong enough to help him achieve his goal. Pokemon, and probably people too, are just tools to him.
Somebody pointed out that the evs don't work out with that interpretation... I think it's more likely he just doesn't treat them badly, finding herbs less efficient for example
Personally, I bought Violet because I honestly like the purple vibe more than the orange vibe of the outfits and menus. It’s just more aesthetically pleasing to me. Plus, I like Violet’s Pokémon more as well.
I've always explained Cyrus' Crobat as having loved him enough to evolve even though that love and trust isn't reciprocated. If you think about it, it just makes Cyrus EVEN MORE evil and pathetic.
It seems as if we’ve found out Cave Form Mighty’s origin story. It seems like it was because he was the only Mighty that got treated poorly by Mikey, as you could see in that intro. That’s why he resorted to residing in caves, away from any part of Mikey’s world. Very interesting. He still looks very cute though. I hope him and his brethren get some much more fit parents for them. 🥺
Silver's Crobat is more used as a show of his character development and his mellowing out. Cyrus does have some sympathetic traits looking into his backstory, and he was friends with Rotom in the past (all but confirmed in Masters), so perhaps his Crobat is more of a sign of those hidden sympathetic traits, that he isn't purely evil, and potentially even treats his Pokémon decently (or at the very least, isn't abusive to them). (I feel like they were building up to a redemption story with Cyrus, given how they established the sympathetic motive and past friendship with Rotom, how they redeemed him in two official manga, his final dialogue asking the player if things could happen different for him had he met them sooner in Ultra, and even having Cynthia state she thinks he can change in Masters, but then we got BDSP instead and that all went that out the bloody window.)
tbf I wouldnt blame BDSP on this one, as BDSP was meant to be a pretty faithful remake. in my opinion, the best showing of Cyrus in official media is the Pokemon Evolutions short series (which shows a unique story surrounding the villains, sometimes from another perspective, sometimes from another universe)
10:56 that's mainly because it used to be an (also on every form) electric/ghost type but only later changed to electric/flying, making the levitate useless.
I'm so happy that Mikey started letting Katey pick out posts. Was having a read through the subreddits rules and honestly I think this series would have died without the slideshow
I actually like how much he likes Team Sky OCs, like they just.. seem to appear in the slideshow often among comics and the like! It’s a really fun community dynamic, honestly, really encouraging fans to keep drawing their own fanart and stuff, really nice! He also lets in OCs into Team Sky based off of style and character design! I kinda wanna get Reddit again just so I can be a part of things, y’know? Make an OC who’s team has some gimmick that makes them eligible for Team Sky, draw comics of who of the main evil team leaders is most likely to join Team Sky based off of number of eligible Pokemon and stuff (spoiler alert, it’s Cyrus, with a grand total of 3, with Gyrados, Crobat, and Honchkrow, where as all of the others have 1-2. Cyrus also happens to be one of the only evil team leaders who I can somewhat write properly and ‘in character’, which is fun, unfortunately I cannot draw him for the life of me without making his forehead look twice as big as it already is)
I tried to summit mine but it didn't appear :'( I put a lot of effort in it and I was proud of it. I just want to become an official team sky member(although I already in the subreddit)
@@shinken6636 FACTS. so many people say cynthia is soooo difficult but like...her one good pokemon is garchomp. and if you bring a weavile that doesn't have a speed reducing nature you can one shot it with ice punch.
The most base requirement is that they're basic stage Pokémon that can't breed until they evolve. That's how we define "Baby Pokémon", not by dex categories or fanon terms.
wait, what about the Pokémon on the smash bros roster will there be another version of them, will they pick a side or be completely neutral? Also are we including the pokedex?
Bayonetta, Shulk, Cloud, Palutena, Pit... I really could keep going on the characters that could take out like at least 70% of pokemon some of these can outright solo all of them
7:14 audino is a kinda good mon, it is bulky, also it gives a lot of xp when defeated so Alomomola is also kinda good, regenator plus wish and protect can make it quite annoying 9:17 meowth a g max, two regional version and team rocket mascot For spiritomb I think there was a bug where fire fang could hit it As an italian can confirm we see tandemous often
For the spiritomb thing, Fire Fang is able to hit through Wonder Guard due to an oversight, and the game knows about it. If you bring a Wonder Guard Spiritomb to a facility in the Battle Frontier, the game will start spamming Fire Fang users since Fire Fang is the only move that can hit the Spiritomb.
I confirm for Audino, I was having difficulties with the leagues and getting exp in this game particularly is a pain and looking for it helped me get exp faster
@@chaoscasserole5990 I don't think it was a bug, as if you were to bring a shedinja you would just assume it functioned as normal, if there are fire fang users outside of the BF then I'll assume it was, but it seems to me like an anti-cheating measure that a legitimate player would need to work around anyway, especially since the BF starts spamming them as you say
The thumbnail is uncanny. When I first saw Dipplin I called it Dripplin and then immediately caught a shiny Applin, named it Dripplin leveled it to 100 iv and ev trained it so I see and use a shiny Dipplin as soon as possible.
I hate to disappoint but I don't believe you'll be able to do that because dripplin says it's the result of 2 wyrms in the apple. Where the other applin were use to only have 1 wyrm. That's what results in the evo into flapplin and other dude *forgot name*. Hopefully it still works for ya.
@@lostintime4now983 yeah I’ll be honest I don’t know why they wouldn’t have waited to level it up all the way. I maybe would have gotten it to like 90 or something
It is rather funny how far Mikey has come. I remember coming across his channel back when he was revealing his own pokedex, creating his rap battles and of course his first Pokemon talk episode. *Which btw, actually came out 11 years ago (2012) and his most recent: Shadow Lugia, came out 3 years ago*
Thank you for explaining the physics of ties. That's gotta be my biggest pet peeve with those tie memes. Like, why would you ever think anyone would wear a tie tucked directly under their chin unless their name is Big Ed?
Michael you have reignited my pokemon obsession! Haven't seen your videos for about a year because I just got distracted by boring life stuff but so happy now to be back playing pokemon violet and shiny hunting and watching your videos! Love your content, thank you!
In response to the tie on Raging Bolt: Just remember, the only difference between a tie and a noose is which end of the neck you tie it on. And I guess which side of the neck the knot is against, but you get the point.
The statue for the "the test isn't that confusing. the test:" meme is a fusion of both Dialga and Palkia. The Diamond and Pearl Adventures arc gave us a better look on what the statue looks like. And based on that, it seems to be Dialga's head on Palkia's body.
20:30 the main reason I chose Violet (I was really on the fence and this was a huge deciding factor) was the fact that Miraidon whilst riding on it, had wheels, that it used, that was what made me immediately choose Violet
In defense of Glimmora being the champions ace, Rock is the only type to not have a major specialist in Scarlet and Violet, so they made the champion have a Rock pokemon to be the ace, so that every type has at least one pokemon that tera's into that type. Only issue is that the only rock types introduced in gen 9 are Klawf, Garganacl, and Glimmora, Glimmora by far being the strongest of this group.
I actually just like Phione, mainly because I didn't know it existed until after putting Manaphy in the daycare, just to see if I could get another Manaphy egg, and it hatched into something totally different, and arguably cooler/cuter
I actually have a couple friends who went Violet because the don't like the legs on Koraidon. They either prefer hover bike legendary or the futuristic Pokemon in general. I personally would have gone with violet for the name but Scarlett for the included pokemon.
As fun it is to hear about the theory as to why John thinks Violet sold better, my brain refuses to believe it and just goes on the line that people just bought it cause Miraidonis basically just a motorcycle and not as goofy looking as Koraidon when moving.
100% yes. Miraidon is a cool sci-fi bike with jet boosters. Koraidon is a funky lizard that waddles around. I'm not saying Koraidon is bad, but it's clear which one will be more popular.
@@Coooop_timeStrongly disagree, you got dumb robots that barely change from the originals while us Scarlet players have savage caveman versions of Pokémon
In it's original appearance in Pokémon Red and Blue(Green), MissingNo. is in fact a Bird Type, not a flying type, but because MissingNo. is missing and removed data from the game, it was given the removed type of Bird, which was replaced by the flying type. So MissingNo. as a Bird Type works with Team Sky
5:24 Actually, it's both Rock and Fairy, based on Lockstin's if Arkoos was every type video. However, if you take into effect moves and abilities that remove type immunities, then a mon that was every type would be have a triple weakness to Ground. So, basically, bring Mega Diancie or 100% Zygarde that knows his signature moves.
Fairy should be neutral if the resistances of Poison, Steel, and Fire cancel out the weaknesses of Fighting, Dragon, and Dark. However I am confused why the meme said 7 immunities, as there are 8 in the game.
6:36 believe it or not, but jumpluff is actually quite good in vgc and a player specifically, Joseph Ugarte, played it this season multiple times and made some pretty astounting results with it. Clorophyll + sleep powder + all the other support moves it gets it's kinda crazy honestly
I was going to say that Jumpluff is one of those pokemon who's best used in the tcg... Like Unown... I mean at least in the tcg some of them are pretty good
Just today when I was playing Brilliant Diamond online, I got so annoyed by an opposing stall team's Jumpluff that I chose to forfeit over wasting any more time, because I knew I'd already lost. So yeah, sometimes even so-called useless Pokémon can surprise you if you're not prepared.
To give some credit to the whole Ross power plan. Galea specifically was gonna run out of Dynamax energy, and since like…all of Galars culture and tourism is based around Dynamax battles, it running out would probably have caused quite a few issues for the region.
Yeah, if you take away the “1000 years from now” part, it actually makes way more sense for Rose to stall and interrupt the Championship match in attempt to get Leon to help him figure the energy crisis out. When you add that it won’t happen for 1000 years from now, it takes all of the urgency of the plotline out. It definitely feels like they hardcore wrote themselves into a corner and didn’t have time to write something satisfying. The problem with not knowing when the energy running out is that it disincentivizes players from dynamaxing in the postgame, which can cause problems when you have the competitive scene and postgame features (like raid dens) depend on this mechanic. They couldn’t figure out a satisfying ending, so they slapped the 1000 years (or however long it was), and washed their hands of it.
Even then, it’s a thousand years. And I assume the Pokémon world has a way to convert electrical energy to dynamax energy if they have balls the price of of pizza that can capture gods and ways to travel between different universes.
@@CyberDrewan something to remember is that Ross technically did get what he wanted. The darkest day happened again, and presumably recharged Galar’s supply of Dynamax energy.
The irony of alomomola - it's based on fish (sun fish) that not suppose to survive with it's bizarre movement and only two giant fins, but somehow this thing is living pretty well. I also think that pokemon like that existed purely to make world of pokemon much more familiar to us. Like, the y also has this kind of insane fish or just basic animals. So, i can understand why it isn't evolution for luvdisk, but in the same time - HOW THE HECK FISH EVOLVED INTO THE OCTOPUS?!
@@darkwolf5719 I did see that in the day it was leaked - it's still gives 0 explanation why they left it in the game and didn't make them as separate pokemons.
12:30 "Meowscarada having grass coverage against Quaquaval; Skeledirge having ghost coverage against Quaquaval" "Skeledirge having fire coverage against Meowscarada; Quaquaval having fighting coverage against Meowscarada" It's almost like they were made to be an equal triangle or something.
@@kristophesiem5336Ghost IS super effective against fighting. Skelidirge is actually the best because ghost is super effective against fighting but is in addition to it all immune instead of resistant to fighting. Try doing research before Edit: When did it stop being effective? I swear it was super effective last time I checked
In my first PK violet playthrough, i picked mewscarata bc its move never missed and always crt, and i was paranoid about getting beated to dust by nemona or arven-- mewscarata is actualt pretty OP
5:14 Do you realize how much food Snorlax eats the moment it wakes up? Ash’s Snorlax was motivated enough before Ash caught it to swim between different islands in the Orange Isles to eat more
@@ThatCheeseonYT In the original anime, a Snorlax was thought to be blocking the stream to a town when I reality it was a bunch of vines. The moment the Snorlax was woken up, it ate all the vines
Nah, I think Cyrus does feel the same way about his Pokémon. He doesn't like emotions, but he still _has_ them. He even says in Platinum that his emotions are the result of his own incomplete spirit, as he puts it. I think he comes off as emotionless because that's what he wants to appear as, but he can't stop himself from feeling his emotions anyway. And maybe he doesn't keep this facade up when it's just him and his Pokémon, so they get to see a side of him that we don't. And if his Golbat sees that side of him and evolves into Crobat... I feel like that says something about Cyrus.
on paradox keldeo, ive seen fan concepts for a paradox celebi and i think maybe mew as well for a paradox that has both past and future elements. i think itd be cool if keldeo got something like that
@@addison_v_ertisement1678 it's not something you'd realize with Shedinja given it's part-Bug and naturally weak to Fire, but something in the code made it turn out that way.
I think Michael needs to pay the person who made the jackets so that he can have his very own team sky jacket to wear for videos Also quick note keep up the amazing work both Michael and Katie these videos help brighten my day when i see them get added
(About the one at 9:33 ) If Keldeo got a Paradox form, then so would either Celebi or Ho-oh to go with the paradoxes of the legendary beasts, and that would be pretty neat, I think. Although Celebi getting a past form wouldn't make the most sense since it can time travel.
Pyroar for Pride is a little weird, I think there are definitely others that fit. But Snorlax I feel does fit gluttony for these entries: “ Will eat anything, even if the food happens to be a little moldy. It never gets an upset stomach” “ It is not satisfied unless it eats over 880 pounds of food every day. When it is done eating, it goes promptly to sleep” “ It eats nearly 900 pounds of food every day. It starts nodding off while eating-and continues to eat even while it’s asleep.” “ This glutton appears in villages without warning and devours the entirety of their rice granaries-such occurrences have long been counted among the gravest of disasters” Also my favorite is Primarina, so it’s sad how little attention it gets
11:46 the original dragons name is probably just kyurem, when fusing zekrom/reshiram with kyurem it remains as kyurem so it makes sense that when adding the final legendary to kyurem white/black it would still just be kyurem rather than having a different name which doesnt really make sense
I bought both, but Violet is the one I was more excited for 'cause I liked the sci-fi designs more than the prehistoric ones. Not all of them, but most of them. Definitely prefer Miraidon's design to Koraidon, personally.
Id argue probably the smash cast. Arceus probably gets bodied by Sephiroth. I think a good chunk of the smash cast wouldnt drown to Kyogre, they probably survive heat, and the smash cast has Palu, Rosalina and most of all, Kirby. They also have the monado. I think the biggest edge the pokemon have is ironically Victini
@@Snt1_ that's the thing, each team has a lot of characters with godlike powers, leading to interesting and thought provoking interactions. Meanwhile for the lion talk it's like "can absolute brute force beat a bunch of Gods?".
3:30 I mean *realistically* for some gym leaders like Kofu and Katy they have normal jobs like cook and baker that they can technically teach you, the academy could also teach you normal things unrelated to pokemon battling, but I suppose you do have a point otherwise, we could learn their backstories I guess? Edit:I'd like to think inviting them would reward you with like tera shards or other useful items if you don't want to look for em or grind for em in tera raids
20:10 : The ressemblance doesn't end there for generations 1 and 9. Scarlet is a shade of red, Violet is more or less a shade of blue. Both gen 9 and gen 1 are known for being very glitchy. They are also the only two generations that let you pick the order in which you fight the gyms. 20:40 : I mean, it makes sense for the pokémon game based on the future to feel newer, right ?
Keldeo is technically no longer a mythical as you can obtain it in Sword and Shield by having a picnic with his friends... (Which is so adorably wholesome it almost makes me forget how mad I was that Kalos didn't have a swords of justice event... THEY ARE LITERALLY THE THREE MUSKETEERS!!!!)
a jumpluff died and some hoppip began to grow and someone ruined the peace by ripping off the top of a hoppip and sticking it onto the jumpluff the jumpluff began regaining it's life force or whatever and became the first oddish would that mean oddish can fly
7:20 in Audino's case, she's the Unovan Chansey. remember the anime, where every Pokemon Center had a Chansey, and in the Black&White series they had Audino? that's why i compare the two. 7:31 exactly. with Alomomola you could easily replace it with an evolution for Basculin - or at least something similar to Gyarados - a snake-like fish, perhaps? 10:04 i fully expected Grunty Boi to pop up with a sponsorship. 20:02 i see it now... never noticed.
19:55 My theory: Ceruledge... Cuz that was my biggest reason. I wanted one throughout my playthrough. Also, uniform colors/looks. I've always liked the look of violets more, especially ever since game freak added purple hair I would always choose purple (in line with my self insert oc I always make in games) and it would just clash too much with scarlet uniforms lol.
2:57 also because they were a sequel and a remake respectively. Not a lot of people wanted to pay full price for a game they pretty much already experienced. Why does no one bring this up? This is just how buying stuff works.
