Recently built a T6.2 kit, and a B6.4 kit. Tuning the Buggy for an indoor track, fairly high grip dirt, smooth and fairly tight ... Going to throw the T6.2 ball diff in until I can get another one... and some other changes... hope to gain rear grip out of the corner...

Ball diff may not last long on high grip tracks.

@@TeamRC3D it's fairly high grip, for dirt... but still dirt not like sealed clay with slicks... I think everyone running 2wd are on ball diffs, but I might ask around ... If I were to go back to a gear diff I think it would need some really light oil, any suggestions there?

@@isaiahfurrow7414 if everyone else is running ball diff then go with that - just make sure it is set up correct and not slipping as it will destroy itself if slipping

I would recommend cleaning off the black grease you have used to lube the gearbox. Its known to quickly contaminate the clear ball diff "stealth" grease. This causes the diff to slip prematurely. Ae recommend using the clear "stealth" grease to lube the gears and avoid this contamination. Keep the black grease purely for the thrust race. By doing this your diff will last a lot longer. Hope this helps.

I’ll try that

I see Spencer Rivkin and others demonstrate adjusting the tension without removing the drive shaft and using the hex wrench. Instead just jamming one drive cup and rotating the other wheel by hand. This seems way easier, so why do you not do this?

Never liked doing it like that can fell it better this way but have done it before when in a rush

Thank you. Great informative video. Question, as a rookie carpet racer what is the benefit of this dif over the one in the box and would this dif help me as a rookie.
@TeamRC3D
@TeamRC3D Год назад
Carpet i would use ball diff - less maintenance and better performance - ball diff off road when bumpy

I may be switching from Losi to AE just for the Diff accessibility alone.

Although the B7 uses a different diff!!

putting grease between the rings and the outdrive will cause the rings to slip

Thrust washers are not the same size. I called Associated they measured some and they were different diameters. No preference for caged ball direction. I would put the smaller inside diameter washer against the thrust bolt head.

Yes your are right we have found this on some ball diffs the thrust washers are slightly different sizes to prevent them fouling the drive cup
