TeamViewer, the popular remote access and support platform, recently reported a potential breach in its network linked to the notorious cybercrime group AP29 Midnight Blizzard. However, rest assured that there is no evidence of any compromise to company or customer data. On June 26th, an irregularity was detected within TeamViewer's internal corporate IT environment, which has been attributed to APT29 Midnight Blizzard. The investigation reveals that the attack was contained within the corporate IT environment with no access to the product environment or customer data. TeamViewer promptly activated its response team and engaged third-party cybersecurity experts for necessary remediation measures. With strong segregation between corporate IT, production environment, and connectivity platform as part of their defense strategy, unauthorized access is prevented. Other security firms are also warning about this advanced persistent threat.
