The DPF was replaced due to poor flow rate if the exhaust gas through the filter. The filter was damaged and been blocked. Let’s take a look after tear down the filter housing using grinder.
this filter is divided into two parts, Mercedes in the first OM642 engine versions decided to use the euro4 DPF version, the big part that you cleaned is the catalytic converter and small final part is the DPF. You can also find the small pre catalytic converter near the turbo. thanks for the tube
Looks like ceramic inside all gummed up with soot and unburned diesel. I thought the later OM642 had a re-gen feature which burned off all the soot and carbon in this chamber?
