Do you only put stabilizer jacks on the back corners and the tongue as the third point, or all four corners?
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer 2 года назад
Hi Ken. Good question. Typically, the jacks are on the back with a tongue jack on the front (some people put them on all 4 corners). What I do advise people to do is to build the entire trailer and then spend a night in it. It you roll over and everything rocks and rolls (depending on how loaded the trailer is, your axle type, and how much enthusiasm you have when rolling over), then get the jacks. They bolt right on and can help stabilize for sleeping. But if you don't need them, save the cash and the additional weight on your rig!

Nooby question,why did you choose this type over a jack you could level out the trailer?
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer 2 года назад
Good question. The purpose of these jacks is to keep the trailer from rocking. Teardrops use a pretty light rated axle. Two people sleeping inside can rock the trailer a bit when rolling over in bed during the night OR a strong wind can rock the trailer. These jacks stop that from happening. Not everyone needs them but they are nice. As far as leveling a Teardrop, I always go simple. The tongue jack lifts up and down and the whole thing pivots on the axle. That's one direction. The other direction is pretty simple with a block of wood or a rock under a tire. If it's an offroad teardrop the leveling jacks may be more helpful but, even then, most of the time they're just extra weight.

Where did you find the metal bar? I hoped to use a tire iron, but it's too big.
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer 3 года назад
Good question. We make our own at OT. If you're interested, email us at support@overlandtrailer.com. You could also make your own out of 1/2" steel bar stock.

Mine won't release to pull down...what can I do to "unstick" it?? Thanks.
@OverlandTrailer

Sometimes dirt can build up in the slide (if it isn't used often. Try cleaning it with a hose at high pressure and then pull on it.

@@OverlandTrailer Thanks for replying, and to answer your question I have two full size trailer that I built, walk in trailers the first one was ten foot long and the last one is a fourteen and a half feet, that not including the poles. the first weighed 1650 lbs and the second weighs in at 2450 hundred pounds . take care

Can the rod be used on the lower hole to release the mechanism freeing the pressure and lift the leg up. Mine appear to have a groove in the locking mechanism for the bar to fit in.
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer 2 года назад
Hi Chris, That groove can help the rod track correctly but I'd go easy on forcing the jack to release. It's easier to take a bit of pressure off of the jack (drop the tongue for example) and then fold the jacks back up.

Can the rod be used on the lower hole to release the mechanism? It appears their is a grove there for the rod
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer 2 года назад
The groove can be used to force the jack looser. However, it is much harder on the jack over time than just releasing some of the pressure on the jack itself.
@zoobiewa
@zoobiewa Год назад
If you have to lift the tongue to disengage, why do they sell these in packs of four? You can't disengage them when there's pressure on em?
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer Год назад
Hi Zoobiewa. Great question. They can be released without lowering the tongue but it's easier if you do. It also reduces wear and tear on them.
@mcplar1971
@mcplar1971 Год назад
Or just raise the tongue jack so the front two are off the ground. Reset those. Then lower the tongue and release the rears.

What is the length when folded up for travel?? I only have 11-1/4in of free space from the end of the frame to the leaf spring bolt

13" When folded up
@betterwithrum

Have you ever had it fall down while driving? That's my only concern with this.
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer Год назад
Great question. No, it's never fallen down on our own trailers or on the rentals. There is a pretty strong spring inside the holds the jack in place. 13 years and going strong. The one thing that can happen, eventually, is the finish will wear off and they can rust. A lot of offroading can make them harder to extend with mud but we have other stabilizer jacks that we recommend for the offroaders.

I'd notice only 1 Stabilizer Jack on it. What is weight limit for ramp door loading?
@OverlandTrailer
@OverlandTrailer 2 года назад
Hi Sung Lee. There are two stabilizer jacks on the back of this trailer but the camera angle doesn't show the other. The weight limit depends on the one you get. There are two sizes. You can see them at: www.overlandtrailer.com/product/trailer-frame-stabilizer-jacks/
@iwannachopbladeslawncare
@iwannachopbladeslawncare Год назад
@@OverlandTrailer "The weight limit depends on the one you get" ... Neither option talks about the weight. Sung is asking about the Max Gross weight these re rated to hold. Are these rated? You only have two options, why not just tell him the max weight they will hold for the 18" and the max weight for the 22 1/4? I'm interested in this item too but does not talk about what the gross weight is.
