Tyler, your and the Wizard's friendship is one of the best things about this show. I love how genuinely excited you both get over the other's new toys.
Those 3 pieces between the plenums are not throttle bodies but variable diverter valves to change the length of the intake air charge. They are constantly changing runner length depending on RPM. The intake is so well designed that at speed there is actually positive pressure going into the engine. That intake is an amazing piece of engineering.
The designer for the stingray actually wanted a mid engine corvette as far back as the 70s and he never got to see production, if I remember correctly the designers for this model did it as tribute to the original stingray designer. I forget the names and I believe the original designer was from Ferrari but it’s a cool way to round out history
That and to compete with Ford still, since in 1960s Ford made the Ferrari eating Le mans shredding GT40 and also don't forget the 1st American 200mph car which I believe was the Shelby Daytona Coupe, don't quote me on that it could've been a different Shelby model but I'm pretty sure, and like I've mentioned earlier it's about time Chevy built this mid engine monster to stay competitive with Ford and Ferrari both, I don't think to this day Chevy/GM ever drove le mans or won any place there at all and Le mans is the primo defacto test of an automakers balls in their vehicles and worthiness to the auto gods, to even make it through to the end of le mans is a feat and testament to automaker prowess, can't wait to see the stingray tearing it up with the best of them...
The black Ferrari 458 is absolutely beautiful. I can't believe it's been sat all that time just because of a poor battery! I would love to see some more videos on the beautiful black 458, its absolutely stunning!!!...👍🙂👍🇬🇧🇺🇲🇬🇧🇺🇲

I loved Daniel-San's sass, a Ferrari man to his core. I do like it when Magic-Mike and Daniel-San are able to get involved in a video. I know they are there to work, but it is fun when we get videos like this where everyone is involved. Credit to the Wizard, you can't fake a good workplace atmosphere like this, where members of the team can have the occasional wander over for a look-see.

@@earlmcmanus194 Doesn't change that Ferrari accomplished this a decade ago. Though I will admit the F8 is nowhere near the quality of the 458. This car is 150k so unless you're talking about an 812 which is way better than this corvette or a 296 (which is faster) I don't know what's 3x more expensive, an F8 is less than double and while I think the F8 is better looking for the money the C8 is better.
The next C8 model released will be a hybrid, the "2024 Corvette E-Ray". An electric motor (115 hp) on the front wheels will combine with an LT2 engine in the rear, to make the first AWD Vette. The body will be very similar to the Z06 wide body styling.
Electric cars suck either way,and a sports car with a automatic transmission is such a piece of garbage. Cars are fun to drive,the manual transmission is a must have,as much as I hate Ford and dodge, at least they still offer manuals

When I worked at GM in the tech center the LaFerrari was on display at one point for an electronics seminar with the suppliers. I’ll be curious to see how the hybrid Vette compares to the La Ferrari setup. They had the 458 in tear down when I was there too, just walk over during lunch and look around. Mind you that was back around 2015 time frame.

Wow!!!! I got my 2023 Vette a couple months ago! With that car I have entered a new phase!! I now "disqualify" myself from working on cars! Sold most of my stuff and now just enjoy driving my new Corvette!! Which is not the Z06!! But still plenty of power at 490 Horses!!! Thanks to all you guys Im getting an education into no place I need to go any longer!!!!
Yep. Absolutely do this. The great thing about American cars is that nobody keeps them 100% stock and it's just assumed that you make small mods like this/it won't hurt the value any. And they DRIVE them. 100K+ on a Corvette is most of them that are over a decade old. The highest mileage one I see for sale right now is a 2002 with 209K on it. Not 4000 miles and oops some part broke, sorry. (all "supercars" it seems).
@@dougsmith389 the stock black engine bay cover used in the Z06 convertible is exactly the same one as the stingray’s so the existing clear engine bay accessory will fit it
I’ve been hoping they did this in Polycarbonate, an ode to the C6 ZR1 supercharger clear cover! And if I’m not mistaken, Polycarbonate has a 500 F degree heat rating.
@@danr1920 as someone who builds engines in a factory setting. I bet he didnt put the filter on. if i had to guess Mike assembled the bulk of the engine and it went to other people to be buttoned up
4000 miles and it's in limp mode/something broke. 40,000 miles on your average Corvette means it's time to change the tires again and check the brake pads... That pretty much says it all about the state of automotive engineering.

had the same battery issue with a 2008 Merc CLK350, lots of lights, the top wouldn't retract, no TCS and no Cruise cont. new battery fixed it right up.
I was a tow driver. Went to pick up a 2008 Mercedes. Guy was having it taken to the dealer. Dealer said they'd scrap it when he was buying a new car. It had every warning light on in the book. Wouldn't start. I started it with a jump pack, error codes went away, so I offered 1000 bucks and the guy took it. The dealer was just ripping him off lol. All it needed was a battery. Thing has been running perfect for 2 years now. No leaks. Everything is great.
What a great video! The icing on the cake -- got to hand it to Corvette that car is a piece of automotive art. Mike Ward also built the Z06 engine in the Street Speed car.

@@rodneyking4183 Advance Auto Parts bought the Die Hard brand a few years ago, and that's the only place to get a Die Hard battery. They are essentially house brand batteries Advance can slap that brand name on anything they want. They also have a line of tools under the Die Hard name. Interestingly, Die Hard batteries actually are made by the same company which made the originals and sold them in Sears stores. It is the same company that makes many of the OEM batteries for manufacturers. (I work at Advance and thought this info might be interesting to someone.)
True this: to keep engine cover screws safe when he's working on a new supercar, Magic Mike swallows them. Then, later on, after he's finished an inspection or fixed the fault or made a video for Hoovie, he drinks two pints of prune juice and...well, you get the idea. Nature takes it course. He's very special.

An e-ray badged car leaked on the configurator with the same body but with the LT2 V8, so I'm assuming the body will be repurposed for an AWD hybrid grand sport replacement. Still hoping for even higher trim vehicles using the LT6 or maybe even a turbo LT6 (LT7) with that hybrid system.
The ecu won't let it Rev past 7500 at all anyways, the break in procedure is programmed into it. Also, going back to the beginning of the c7 you can't Rev past 4000 if it's cold, redline gradually increases as the engine gets warmer
while this is an impressive car, the fact that it's actually slightly inferior to a 10 year old 458 shows just how far ahead Ferrari was. What's interesting is that you can buy a 458 Italia for about the same money as this thing. While a $65k Corvette makes sense, I'm not so sure about this one. Probably better to just buy a used 458.
Patent laws would prohibit a direct copy of Ferrari. If GM learned Ferrari's tricks and applied said tricks to the Corvette's design, then implement this design into the Corvette production at a much lower cost, then I say GOOD on GM!!!!
You do know Ferrari "copied" Lamborghini and others right? And for the record the Corvette was literally supposed to be Rear Mid-Engine since the 1960s. There's also been Prototypes that have been built , however the Rear Mid-Engine Corvette plan fell through. Also Ferrari uses GMs Magnaride system
Flat plane crank motors were in production in 1914, By none other than Cadillac. If anybody stole anybody’s patents, it would be Ferrari. As also noted, the first mid engine supercar was the Lamborghini Miura, released a full eight years before Ferrari copied them and introduced a mid engine car. And Ford introduced the GT 40 prior to Lamborghini introducing the Miura.

I still can't believe that people don't just check the battery First with ANY modern car when it has electrical issues. I'm in agreement that the Corvette is finally an Exotic / Supercar with the C8 when it was always just a Sportscar in the past.
I’ve been saying for a while “wow that sounds like a 458” when people would talk about what’s coming with the Vette. American cars are legit 6-8 years behind on tech it always seems.
Only America can have the best recipe for an amazing sports car and then build it like an American 😂 all those exposed cables & gears are just lazy design/engineering
That and dead computer my neighbors C8 spent 4 months in the dealership because the computers weren't talking to each other wouldn't start 🤣🤣 they gave him a cobalt to drive 🤣🤣🤣
