Roland - "Raoul and the Kings of Spain" it's kickass and it's phenomenal. For a smaller fellow, Roland has ridiculously powerful vocals. Curt has a very sweet voice. Roland is 100% power.

Oleta Adams had a great thought on Rolands voice, "His voice is wide." In so far as Curt is concerned Roland tried to sing "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and it didn't work so he asked Curt to sing it and it worked.

This album didn’t do much in America - but I love it! Solo or together - just incredible. I love how these artists had so much texture and experimentation in their music- old traditional instruments with synths.. tons of musical influences regurgitated back into something completely new. 🔥

I’ve been addicted to this entire album lately, it’s one you can play from start to finish, there’s not a dud track on it. Raoul And The Kings Of Spain is great too, in particular the tracks Sketches Of Pain, God’s Mistake, Falling Down… such an amazing band, even without Curt on these two albums. Roland is just beyond talented.

Love this song! However I think one that will top it is there a 1989 hit “Sowing The Seeds Of Love” with both Roland and Curt. The video won numerous awards and the song had a late Beatles feel to it. Have to check it out!!

Although I agree with you all about wanting Curt Smith to be on this album, TfF made a couple of really good albums with Roland Orzaball only. If you feel adventurous about this phase in the band's history, "Raul and the Kings of Spain" is heavy fire! P.S. Love your love for TfF!

I wish I had known you wanted "next era" Tears for Fears creations. We can do much better with song choice. There are a couple of Tears for Fears songs that I think would have been on the radio if they had been released in the '80's. But radio is fickle. 2004 reunion album. -- The Devil -- ==================== -- Who You Are - (Bunabari made a video.) ================ ================ People would enjoy these songs a LOT. I do. This one is from 1995. The album "Raoul and the Kings of Spain" is called a Tears for Fears effort, but it's really only Roland Orzabal's album. He and Curt Smith had gone their separate ways in 1991. For some unfathomable reason this very lovely "human condition" song was one of several songs not actually put on the album. Thank goodness for RU-vid finds. It has not been lost to the world. Someone made a cool, artistic video. title: -- Until I Drown -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -and: Last Days on Earth -(2004 reunion album) Especially great for the bedtime playlist. It's beautiful. Serene soundscape. Someone made a pretty video

Personnel changes with bands can often result in stunning music. Roland helmed Tears For Fears for two incredible albums, Elemental and Raoul & The Kings of Spain. Roland looked great with his straight long hair and the videos from the 90s were well done. It’s my favorite era, with all due respect to Curt.

I did not recognize the title when I saw it. Then when it started I was singing along with it. I forgot all about it. I did not realize Curt was not in it. Rolland's voice is very distinct. Love the beat in the song. This is a very positive song. Unlike "Mad World", which is a good song but not a feel good song. Love when I go into a song blindly, come to find out I know it after all. ❤🎶

Obviously, Roland is the songwriting force in the band, but there is definitely something missing without Curt. I've been a TFF fan since 1984 and have seen them live many times. I actually left before the end of the Elemental concert without Curt, because Roland was insufferable on stage. I get it - he needed to be recognized and craved some attention after being overshadowed by Curt (who seems more comfortable in interviews, etc.), but it was very cringey. I'm glad they're back together. The Tipping Point is an amazing album (with 2 great songs by Curt). I saw them last summer and it was amazing, and I have tickets to see them next month. If you haven't listened to The Working Hour, you should!

I was really blown away when I got the notification you guys did this song. To me, the moat underrated release by Tears For Fears. Song was released late summer/fall of 1993 and to me, was a wonderful "soundtrack of my life" song. I only encourage you to continue to listen, as the more you hear this, the more you will appreciate it. From the orchestral instruments, to the lyrical yells, to the bridges, this song doesn't fit any mold, but is amazing, nevertheless.
