Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World.HQ. ultimate 12 inch extended mix rare. (audio). from the vaults. i don't own the copyright- just love the track...
You know when a song is a classic when you play this in your car and your kids not only ask you to blast the song but the know the lyrics of the song, to hear your kids telling you the '80s was the coolest era, PRICELESS!!!!!
Yeah I was born in 86, more of a 90’s kid, but the 80’s are definitely being vindicated right now. I’m sure my two little boys will be into it when they get older.
80’s music makes me wish we had time machines. I miss video tape rental stores, vinyls, the creativity and originality of 80’s movies the time before cell phones and social media, I miss when kids could just be kids. Riding bikes playing in the neighborhood.
It's a beautiful, warm day and you're driving along the Pacific Coast. There's a hint of salt smell in the otherwise fresh air. Suddenly, this song starts playing on the radio and you can't help but turn up the volume full blast and start singing along. Welcome to the best day in the world!
I came upon this version of the song during a very hard point in my life. I just sat back and contemplated everything. Nothing ever last forever. The pain never last forever. The hurt never last forever. Everything has its own time and place. Always remember that during the hardest parts of your life. Love always. Everybody wants to rule the world 🌍.
This version reminds me of the days back in 85 when I worked at downtown records in NYC and we were getting smashed by all these great imports from Europe. There will never be another decade like the 80s.
Mad ironic, since lyrically/conceptually it about tyranny, militarism, n powerlessness lol, it like "pumped up kicks" by FTP, i think tha proper descriptive term is "lyrical dissonance"
@@awnaur0no919 You are so right about lyrical dissonance, it is a characteristic that was absolutely central to TFF's music. Yet it gets absolutely lost on those listeners who think Gary Jules' version of Mad World is better because it sounds gloomier than the original. Sigh...
Yes, but the song went to No. 1 all over the world. An extended mix is gilding the lily. If the mixmaster is so clever he ought to write a song of his own. You follow me?
The 80s were sensational and had a completely different atmosphere there was nothing like it, life felt different. I was born in 88, i missed the 80s but i know everything was beautiful 😭❤️💔💔💔
Jack Daniels psy is great , don't bash him i may be late to your comment but im sure you've only heard one song of psy, hes amazing hes way better than a lot of artist
Those born after this decade missed an amazing decade of music and innovation. As a man of 54 listening to this today it makes me sad these days will never return.
Unfortunately, born too late. What must the 80s have been just for an incredible decade that produced such music ... I recently played this song on a birthday muted sound. Everyone from grandpa to grandson felt comfortable. You could feel it right. This music is so timeless and catchy that it will probably be around in 100 years.
I'm sorry, I couldn't continue listening to this song as tears started pouring down my face halfway through. It's my favorite song from my favorite band during high school, and the thought of time passing by is just so melancholic.
I know exactly what you mean about time. It passes so fast yet certain moments are crystallised and you remember them like they were yesterday. Life is just so simultaneously beautiful yet painful.
We recently lost home, vehicles, belongings, everything, destroyed by a house fire. Listening to this band an other great 80’s bands and music has brought me out of my doldrums. Great music just has a way of glossing over the negatives that can impact our lives. It always has for me. Looking forward to moving Forward.😊
Some people need to write dozens of books to explain what life is about.. There's no turning back, everybody knows it but the least are aware of it. There's death waiting for everybody, but there's no turning back to the time before your life started.. What's fascinating about this song is that it carries the 'You only live once' message without spreading hedonism like other songs do. It spreads awareness of life, awareness of how precious not only your own life is but everybody else's as well. It spreads charity without working in the hands of religious bigotry.
I grew up listening to these guys ,the first time I heard them was in Vancouver Canada, I was school they were instant hit cuz they played there songs every 15 min on the radio it's a good song 😇💙😎
thats because its just an extended, did you red the title'? what a stupid comment proof of your attentions is in your vagina, and please no one cares about your comments opinion or feelings, please keep quite is better for all of us.
I was 7 when this was released, probably about 10 when I actually started my music head days. This is my favorite from Tears for Fears. I love them. This song does so much for me.
Welcome to your life There's no turning back Even while we sleep We will find You acting on your best behavior Turn your back on mother nature Everybody wants to rule the world It's my own desire It's my own remorse Help me to decide Help me make the most Of freedom and of pleasure Nothing ever lasts forever Everybody wants to rule the world There's a room where the light won't find you Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down When they do, I'll be right behind you So glad we've almost made it So sad they had to fade it Everybody wants to rule the world I can't stand this indecision Married with a lack of vision Everybody wants to rule the world Say that you'll never, never, never, need it One headline, why believe it? Everybody wants to rule the world All for freedom and for pleasure Nothing ever lasts forever Everybody wants to rule the world
There is a time traveler that inorder for him to go back in time he has to smoke a blunt and then close his eyes and make up some dumb shit that he was with an old president or whatever. I saw this on Anthoney Padialles channel, probably spelled his name wrong forgive me.
At 63yrs I grew up with some Great Music in the 60s and 70s and the 90s; however Nothing will top the Music of the Great and Awesome 80s!!, In my opinion. This group was a Perfect example of that. Very Good extended play of one of my Absolute Favorite songs!!☺✌Ty
As I've gotten older this song has slowly become one of my top 5 songs I've ever heard. There are many reasons why. One was that, after getting divorced, my wife and I were able to reconcile and start our family shortly afterward. The song was already out there for a few years but, the fact that Dennis Miller chose this song as the theme music for his talk/interview show on HBO in the early and mid-90s which I very much liked at the time. Since then I have only grown more fond of it as time and life march along without fail.
+AGENTARMES EVERY song n the 80's had an extended version! Most of the songs WERE 5+ mins long as the artists intended..... All of them. BUT crapitalism ALWAYS shows up and fucks up "the best" of everything!.... Yet Jesus couldn't care less about $ unlike those who claim him as their savior..... Just saying cuz I LOVE tickling the ironies.
Almost 30 years later, listening to the original with HQ, this song still rocks!!! It doesn't sound out of place or "out" at all, not even one bit. I have to say "WOW!".
Montanee jo Agreed. TFF certainly gave a timeless classic with this song. I'm happy to be able to say that I was around when it was released. My kids say that makes me old, but they love this song, so I point out that it strikes the same chord within them that it struck within me three decades ago.
One of the best songs ever....from the best era, ever. Love this version...hadn't ever come across it before. Oh, to go back to the 80's...best times of my life. So cruel they'll never be a better time for music. So grateful to have been part of it. A feeling of loss for those who won't know how truly great a time we had.
Very "real" song, and very "spiritual" , it helps me on my journey in life and recovery, so gentle but raw. I love the opening lyrics "welcome to your life...theres no turning back" and yeah i neef to make the most of "freedom and pleasure". Wow whatta song 🌟🌝💙💜💙💜💙💜💙🌝🌞🌝💜💙💜🌞🌝🌞 i always think of great sunshine hearing this
Best part for me is still the part that starts (with this mix) at 6:54. For me, with the original, "single" (i.e. radio-ready) release, this was the part of the song that surprised me the first time I heard it back in the 80's. This was a pop song, and they'd already hammered the hook in. So most bands would probably fade the song out about here. But Tears for Fears wasn't about to do that. They put in a part into the song that you don't hear in pop music very often. A part to sink into. We're not fading out. Hell no. Not yet.
I used to listen to this exact version while walking around the hallways at school. This exact video. I’m glad it’s still up, and I’ll miss being a freshman back in 2015. I’ll never forget those memories, the playlists I made and the countless hours I spent listening to the 80’s.
I am so privileged to grow up in this time, about 19/20 yrs when this was released (a beautiful time)... the 80's will not be repeated so much good music .... Mostly from England .... 🎶👍
Tears for fears - One of so many bands from the 80's that I love so much - you know each one of them sounded peculiar - U2, A-ha, Cure, Smiths and so many others. I was a teen in those days. Thank God.
I whos 16 years old, way back in 1986 just getting out of high school. And then World welcome me to pop & cool music. Tears for Fears gave me hope to live & love my World. Thank you Tears for Fears for the Help you gave me. Be Bless you Guys. "COOL MUSIC" even Today.
I was 17 in 1986 don't get me wrong I like tears for fears but I love the greatful dead after I graduated high school I followed them from city to city for 9 years
They added horns to the "Urban Mix" 12" version (back when a lot of songs had 2 different 12" releases). When the song was reworked for Sport Aid as "Everybody Wants To Run The World" they kept the horn parts and they used to play them on tour, too :)
Iconic song from the 80's. I mean if you don't know this and you were at least 10+ years old at the time you were living under a rock LOL! If you don't appreciate it ...God help ya. On the side...this was also on a soundtrack for a cult film of the time - Real Genius with Val Kilmer in it.
I Was 16 Yrs Old when this Song came out.. This song is like a Time Machine, it means so much to Me, and listening on extended version its even a Plus!, Awesome...
I remember first hearing this song in March 1985. I was 9 at the time and now 30 years later I still love this song. To me this classic defined the 1980s and its influence has not diminished. Will love this song forever. :)
This song is just sheer joy from start to finish- and the totally non intrusive advert in the middle just enhances the ethereal and beautiful feelings the song evokes in the listeners appreciation of the composers work---well done, Google!!!
I was born in the early '50s and grew up on Rock. Listened to it all. I mean all. I booked bands for a living during the late '60s and early '70s. I think I've known everyone. Great 12" mix. I have over 12,000 LP's and 5,000 CD. LOVE MUSIC!!!
Everybody Wants To Rule The World is in my Top 10 Best 80s songs! Eversince I heard it for the first time, I tried to get every available version . Got the UK and Japanese 12¨ single, got the Sport Aid single ¨Everybody Wants to RUN the World¨ (with the metal section added) and every possible live and instrumental version. This one has been a total shocker! Where has it been all this time???
One of those defining songs from the eighties. Instant feel-good nostalgia. Memories of my brother playing this and other synth tracks on his sound system. Good times. 🕺🎶😎
I was 18 when this song came out. What the kids of today do not realize is ALMOST every song that was released before "digitization", was released with a "demo" version, along with a 12 inch single (hence radio edit version). It should be a crime the way music today is more butchered than meat at the butcher shop.
One of my favorite 80's song (TOO MANY great hits from that Era) and the best times of my life! I definitely need to OPEN an 80's dance club here in Miami!
Probably the best 12 inch version of a song that I've ever heard. The song is obviously good anyway but was written specifically to be a 'pop' song - and by that standard it was one of the best of the era. But to create a pop song almost inevitably means sacrificing certain things - atmosphere, mood, subtleties in mix and sound etc. This mix put all of those things into it and more and gave it a totally different feel to the single. I was kind of expecting the 'extra 5 inches' to be made up of extended brass sections and guitar loops. Instead it's atmospheric, dark and almost haunting in parts. Props to the guy that mixed/produced this.
As one of the many fans of Tears for Fears, I LOVE this version...Amazing!!! This song was always on the radio (days before RU-vid) and I sang this song in the shower, on the way to work or school...Great memories from the eighties!!!!!
on that note I will as a long time fan I will also sing this in the shower and the BATH[ get the reference!?] on my way to work as well with new found enthusiasm KEEP SMILING LUV!!
