many moons ago I played bass in a band and we covered this ,when it gets to "this is my four leaved clover na na na ...etc " I really had to concentrate ,lovely bass line excellent song!
Its funny how at the end he says "you could hear a pin drop". I guess the artist never really fully understands the impact those songs had on us. They spend time creating each little part and playing it over and over again until they're probably sick of it. For most us we heard the album in our late teens or early 20's, before the family/career/divorce/job transfer/what have you. We hear the music later and we're transported back to another time and place when things were less complicated...and its a good place.
This is the very quintessence of musical professionalism. The original was an artistic gem, but to be able to present such a superb rendition thirty years later is phenomenal.
@@nope5445 I'm not sure about that - plenty of subtle differences to the original version that they always put in live versions, but I see no keyboardist around and the keyboard solo DID sound like the original.
That. Was. Amazing- note for note like the studio version. Solid drummer. Love that slinky Hofner bassline. Brought tears to my eyes to see the guys- wrinkles, grey hair and all- pumping out a rock-solid rendition of a song they must've performed hundreds of times, to a still-adoring crowd all these years later. Brings back a lot of memories and made this 40-something feel a little better today about being 40-something. The soundtrack of my youth.

This song just hits me right in the heart man! Absolute anthem!! This live version, over thirty years after its release sounds almost identical to the record, phenomenal!! On the scale of things I think Tears for Fears are pretty underrated in comparison to a lot of other 80s artists! 🙏🏻

They sound GREAT live. I was just a wee nipper when this came out. It was my late sister's favourite band. I think of her every time I hear Tears For Fears music.

Saw them live last summer....amazing...been a fan since the Hurting back in early 80's...great summer as I saw U2 Joshua Tree tour as well and as usual blew the roof off...seeing Depeche Mode this summer so my triangle building block of music is complete 35 years later
This brings back so many memories of listening to Tears for Fears on a battery powered boom box in the back seat of a school bus while on high school event trips in the 80s. Funny how time flies.
My baby daughter sang this all the time at 14 months...people used to say," Is that baby singing Tears for Fears?" Such a compliment of a wonderful song sung to her in the womb!
