I live in the 80s because the 21st century SUUUCKS! I'm only in my 3rd year of being a teenager and i absolutely adore this band, i wish i was born in the 70s but i was born in the early 2Ks. I love spending time with my dad and listening to this great band and other music from the 70s to 90s area. Tears For Fears has had a big impact on me, taught me a lot and i really want to go see them in May (2018) in which i might be!
The 80s now is littered with everything that was great about it, but trust me, musicians also made horrible cheesy stuff back then, but it was overshadowed by the greater creative records in a way that we have never had since
It's really funny how a lot of band bands that were big in the 80s act like they they didn't enjoy those years but people really love 80s music it was great time for music
The Tipping Point with them both back together to a 100% is so much better. How many Brit bands of the eighties quarrelled, had problems, separated ... so many of them top musicians and could have been giants if they had stayed together?
I just saw this interview! I don't think their body language is saying they're uncomfortable with each other - neither really seem to like interviews. These two have a long, complicated history. I read that their first contact in years had to do with real estate they co-owned. Both are talented men. I think Roland is a musical genius. Curt has the voice of an angel and he's always been beautiful. But something special creatively happens when they are together. At the end I think Curt says, "so you're telling me you lied?" Roland says, "yeah", Curt smiles and say "ok". They have a history.
You hit the nail on the head(so 2 speak) Something special happens when Curt & Roland are together. Every relationship, music or just friendship, has its trials and tribulations Egos get in the way. It takes time to sift through the everyday details of life ,fame and what ever.? Everyone should be sincerely grateful for how fortunate they are, because Life is not so easy for many in this World and that is why when folks ask " how are you doing?" I respond, " it could be better ,could be worse" Sincerely, deb
both of them have high egos, have been in bands with each other since the late 70's, and friends since around the mid 70's. of course they would have tension.
You can feel that they still have a bit of tension and disagreement between them. Anyway, i grew up with the 80's music, and i love this band so much. They are best band for me.
No. I didn't get that at all. It seemed to me that they were quite comfortable in their "new relationship," as it were. Lots of water under the bridge since they had parted ways. They grew, professionally and personally. "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending" would never have happened if there was still "tension," IMO.
I loved it when roland said we wanted to get together again because we wanted to re-visit the 80s. and curt says no we didn't. well you might not curt but I'm going with roland on this one. I wanna re-visit the 80s aswell. if only there really was a real tardis. hahaha.
Tears for fears is just a incredible but yes Roland will always come out on top he is pure genius curt is good to he has his talent and helps what tears for fears is all about so this is what tears for fears represents I just love them.
mark caine : I don't think so. After all no one is twisting their arms to do it. Money can only go so far. The fact that they know each other and performed together for so long has alot to do with it. Like brothers getting together again.
You know a band is really good when in my opinion there greatest billboard songs such as Rule the world, Shout, etc., aren’t even on my top 5 favorite songs they made. My top 5 are: 1) Badman’s song 2) Year of the knife 3) Pharaohs 4) Woman in Chains 5) Working hour, all of which weren’t mainstream which makes them even more special.
Ha! Interesting relationship. It's funny how a band can become like a marriage. Either way, They need to get their act together cos we wanna see more of them.
Not sure what your problem was Roland, but that music you guys made as a duo called TFF defines the 80s for me. I am 43 now and Head over heels is my favorite song of all time. I am pretty much unaware of the music you made after the split.
The problem is when you're in each others faces 24hrs a day for X amount of years you lose each other and you lose yourself. As Prince once said being the conscientious observer that he was "all good things, they say, never last". Tears of fears were a great outfit but it ran its course. They did their best work when they were in their early to mid twenties!!!!! These guys were kids and ruling the world. I love that shit.
I think they were the best in 1990, just prior to the split! Watch the You Tube video from their Santa Barbara concert! They were at their prime there and that tour. They were just turning 30!
Que lástima que no lo traduzcan al español 😔😔😔, saludos y gracias por los videos, lo disfruto muchísimo. Muchas gracias. DIOS Y LA VIRGEN LOS BENDIGA Y LOS PROTEJA SIEMPRE 🙏 🙌
This may be a controversial comment but I believe its just jealousy with Curt because Roland is simply the better musician. Even though that may be the case there is something about there earlier albums & Hits, when they both record/perform together there greater than the some of there parts.
While it's true they work best together and lacking on their own. They probably had issues with egos and who has more of what but I imagine they see each other as pieces to a bigger hole these days
I think u are correct. Curt got upset because the record companies wanted Roland to do more headlining, more singing!! Clearly Roland IS THE TALENT, HOWEVER... HAVING SAID THAT, IT'S SO MUCH BETTER WHEN THEY'RE TOGETHER THAN SOLO!!! Curt has changed alot, more grumpy and stuck up. Just chill out curt and enjoy the rest of your life!!!
@@prettyyoungthingpyt5015 Roland was the lead writer of the two. Roland once said in an interview that he grew tired of writing for Curt, and wanted to write for Oleta instead. Roland also took over the band with these ideas hence adding new members, Curt left because he didn't have any control anymore...
Were you have great minds and talent working together its always a mix for an over boiling after all if you put a huge pot of soup on your stove with great ingredients you always have to keep your eye on it and stir the pot ither wise WHAT Happens? Bottom line is there back enjoy and give thanks that with all the greats dying we still have a few left whom are now going back to the stage! I find that this music world has changed so much that the kids today really miss out! I'm Hapoy to have been born with the greatness and going out with em all!!! After all good things must come to an end!
The tension between them will never die, just like the tension between Sting and Stewart Copeland reappears when both are in the same room. Ozabal and Sting are egoistic geniuses and can't really be within a band, they are solo artists that can only work with musicians for a short period of time.
Well Roland sounded good in the studio but very bad live. Sounds even worse now. Needs to bury that ego and should have a long time ago. I always thought Curt should have sang more lead than Roland.
Roland wrote most of the songs and music , but everyone thought Curt was the genius of the group. I read it online , Roland regretted letting Curt sing all the hit songs.
In my opinion, I think Roland is hotter than Curt. It's their smiles. I really like the music that you have started with Tears For Fears. I like the songs, "Sea Song" and "I Believe (A Soulful Re-Recording)", because they're calm and cool.
TFF you guys need to understand that we the fans still love the 80's and the sounds of the hurting and big chair. Obviously from this interview you want to forget the 80's. Well, then keep making music your way these days and watch no one buy it, I'll be listening to Mother's Talk.
Exactly. A pretty rotten business. In the early days Roland was a nerd and Curtis was the edgy aggressive street kid, and that energy gave them credibility even though Roland did most writing. I also think that the dynamic in a band (or any other group) is something fragile and non-logical, which you have to preserve. Look at the way the main songwriting talent in Take That (Barlow) crashed into obscurity for 10 years whilst a natural showman but perhaps not a great musician (Williams - who everyone considered a 'spare part') enjoyed several years of significant success.
Curt sure didn't seem to have a hell of a lot to say. Apparently, they may be back working together but aren't the best of friends either. I don't believe they got back together to re-visit the 80's, they got back together because they just started to flounder individually.
