The fight for kids begins now. Inspired by the powerful true story, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace kids in the foster system that nobody else would take. By doing the impossible--adopting 77 children--this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America's most vulnerable can be won.

I was adopted when I was three years old and was in the system for 3 years. I am 24 years old now and want to let you know that you are not alone. My birth parents divorced and my dad abused me and they abandoned me on the street as a baby. I came into the hospital blue and very sick. I am so thankful that this story has finally been told about the American adoption system. This movie gave me so many flashbacks to my birth parents from the little that I can remember. I cried throughout the entire movie. I still live with some major anxiety over being adopted and hope that one day it will all be healed up. All of this is to say that I am so grateful that this movie has come out and spread the light to help give awareness about adoption in the United States. This movie still has me crying 😭. I am so thankful though to have seen the movie.

I will be going to support that movie. Crystal clear Why . I work for those kids. Who has lost their hope don't believe that nobody out there wants them anymore. And don't feel love and they just don't care anymore. They just want to know why they don't understand. Why does God cause them to have pain from all that hurt and pain that someone was causing them..But God save them and remove them. I know they don't understand that . Because they still got hurt and the people that they love were their parents. Now let's show them why they should believe in carrying again and trust and hope and want family really stands up for an is. Love not causing them pain or harm. A love family lets them be a kid's play .Don't let them fear that just a safe place and safe heart and home again inspire them through family with loving parents'safe arms. Crystal clear ❤💙💙💙💙

If this is a true story then we need to hear from the kids that were “adopted” and how did they turn out?

Former foster youth are terrified this movie will cause more religious foster parents to abuse more children. If you want to foster and especially foster to adopt after seeing this movie, please learn about trauma informed care and understand that foster youth are allowed religious freedom and cannot be forced to attend church. Being flexible and accepting is necessary and being able to relate to people from all different backgrounds without being judgmental is necessary. That means accepting of LGBTQ youth or children with vastly different beliefs. This is where many religious foster and adoptive parents have considerable conflicts. Many of these adoptions end up in "rehoming" and kids being moved to different homes unofficially. I was moved from foster home to foster home. This included lasting only 2 weeks in a foster home where the foster dad was a pastor. Many religious families simply cannot deal with children who have different believes and aren't immediately obedient. If you can't imagine having a gay child or a child questioning your religion, please don't foster or adopt. It's more trauma when these kids have to be moved to another foster home or have their adoption disrupted.

lgbt families are far more likely to abuse children, than religious children. The vast majority of children who identify as lgbt are that way due to childhood abuse. Religious families are not the ones who people should be concerned with.

After appearing in this movie as a Sherriff who busted in a door with another Sherriff, I had no idea how significant my part as an unspoken Actor would be...I can say that I was a part of something bigger than all of us because no Child should be abused...

Going to church and learning of God's love for them is the most important thing they could receive.

@@vigilantezack All I learned in church was that God hates me, women and everyone I know will burn in hell. I was told my mom defied god by having a baby out of wedlock and that's why I was in foster care. Those foster parents liked to quote the bible proving everything they said was true. The whole fluffy Jesus loves everyone is ignoring all the Bible passages my foster parents and their pastor liked to quote. So you can't say our religion promotes everyone loves everyone when all I was told was how wrong everything is, how women are inferior to men and god's plan for women is to have babies and shouldn't work outside the home. When I argued about that, my foster dad said that who am I to question god's wisdom and women should understand their place in the word as being subservient to men. It was so creepy how he wanted to control a teenage girl and used the bible to justify it.

@@KatTheo431 Sounds messed up. No real church would ever preach or tell anyone that "God hates you", as this is antithetical to the gospel message, this is anti-gospel, not Christianity at all. Got hates sin, which is the reason Christ came, to defeat it and offer salvation since we cannot earn it by our own merits. It's good to learn about sin and judgement and hell and all that, it's certainly true, but it doesn't stop there, this isn't the whole message. This is the reality of where we are, and the gospel is how to get out of it. There should be a healthy balance. Nobody needs a gospel if they have never heard why they would need such a thing to begin with. "I'm a good person" doesn't work because it fundamentally doesn't understand the effects and damage of sin and God's holiness. You have to understand the danger in order to understand the necessity of the rescue. I'm sorry your church was crap. I'm not sure what you described would even be called Christian, but it's not mainline, it's not the norm.
