@Alex it scared the sh!t out of me the first time. The scream, the screen turning red, and that haunting music. Followed by my sword doing nothing to its health.
@Chocobirdy bro same. I was so confused at what I was looking at because everything's already harder to see down there. Before I knew it I was swarmed 😫
The first time I encountered those damn things, I was battling one of those giant bubble frogs in a mountain cave when the music suddenly took a bizarre turn. I'd never heard the theme before in my previous encounters with them, but I shrugged it off as a misconception. I was so wrong. The moment I'd slain the frog and hopped down from the platform, I saw it. Obviously I was horrified, so I ran away and tried to climb the middle platform, but I was already waist deep in gloom, and you can tell how it went from there. I put up somewhat of a fight, but they overtook me easily and drained my fragile four hearts to nothing. So, now I just steer clear of any and all caves until I know how to deal with the Gloom Hands. Funny thing is, I figured they would be slow and useless like the Malice Heads in the Divine Beasts, but no! They're fast as fuck and thrice as lethal as Guardians.
You have no reason to fear caves, not only do they spawn on the surface once in a blue moon, but most caves are too cramped for them to spawn. Besides, if they do spawn, just teleport away if you need to.
The first time I saw this thing, I'll be honest. I straight up freaked out and ran but couldn't escape and I was on my way to hateno village. I don't know if they spawn in specific places like the talus or hinox, but just know that you don't have to fear caves like someone else said, you just need to be ready to teleport the ever-loving Heck out of the place you're in. I honestly doubt anyone was prepared the first time they saw these things.
My first encounter with this horrifying demon was during a blood moon and despawned afterward. it made me think they only spawn during that time but I wasn't prepared for the scare of my life when one appeared right under my feet inside a cave.
@@Mrbluefire95 the weapon is kinda good? It's just the question of whether or not you want to sacrifice your life for power. Or if you're gonna save the Demon King's Bow until you have max hearts
I didnt even see them the first time I encountered them 😂. I was on a floating platform with a shrine on it, I heard the scream, then the backwards music + red sky, it went away quick. I looked down at the time to see if it was some kind of Blood Moon or TotKs version of it. Then I came across them in a cave and it all made sense lol.
First time I encountered that thing I was lucky enough to be near a small forest, so I just booked it and climbed on one of those big trees. Thankfully they couldn't reach on top so they just stared up at me for a dozen of seconds before vanishing. I was so confused cuz at first I thought it was a red moon but then I noticed it was the afternoon lmao. I miss the Guardians.
I had nearly the same reaction. I don't know what those demonic hands straight from hell are, and I honestly don't want to know! My first encounter was downright horrifying. I was just running past a lake and suddenly the sky turned red and this haunting music started playing. I started to frantically look around for the cause since the blood moon scene wasn't playing - and the music was different (and it was 8pm) - and that's when I saw it. I first saw a red hand emerge from the water, heard it scream as that single hand made eye contact with me, then saw the thing, in its entirety, come flying out of the water straight at me. It through me straight into a panic attack in real life! Lmao I was diagnosed with panic disorder years ago, and have Diokophobia (the irrational and extreme fear of being chased). Lol Never running blind through the depths again! Ran into a Frox while trying to reach the next lightroot. Lol
First ones I encountered were in the depths on my way to Korok Forest. Literally had no idea these were even a thing and seeing them spawn out of the darkness terrified me to no end
First time I encountered it was in a cave come over scared shit out of me that I had to teleport away from the cave, not going in there until I’m ready.
I was trying to reach Morok shrine the first time I noticed these. At first I stopped trying to reach the shrine and just out of curiosity looked at the puddle of gloom. Then the one-eyed hands appear, and the shriek that follows was enough to have me sprinting in the opposite direction. The fucking music an' all really just adds to the feeling of absolute terror. Somehow I outran it because it couldn't get up the hill, and I might have panic-jumped/glided away far out the area. I got super lucky. I dread my next encounter when I won't have so many escape options.
The only thing i hate about people seeing gloom hands is that They always think they can run away from it. Like *DO YOU NOT SEE THAT PUDDLE OF SMUG GOING MOCK 10 AFTER YOU*
First moment of me is walking in hyrule castle then suddenly saw the red goo start moving and coming toward me so fast that i cant outrun it. Terrified, I managed to run away. The second time at maze, i have tulin with me and bombing the whole goo then the boss healthbar show. I swear to god zelda games always give the creep out of me
I like how most people first reaction upon seeing that eldritch horror is to run Me? My dumbass thought they'd be easy to kill and ended up dead on the spot
I remember trying to take their picture and adding it to the compendium. Then I realize I couldn’t (similar to the malice eyes). Then I knew something was wrong
If you do wanna try to kill it, hit it’s center with bomb flower arrows until all the hands die Though you might end up regretting killing it, that’s how I felt when I killed one. First victorious and then I remembered what comes after 😭
I believe the only way to get away from those things is to just rocket shield into the air and glide away. You could also kill them but that just leads to a worse (or better) situation depending on your combat skills.
I was scanning amiibo at the end of one of the labyrinths (the old hebra one from botw), and these fuckers snook up on me. I killed them, but I died in the second phase to *HIM*
This was the exact same place I encountered them the first time too. I walked past the puddle of ooze from a small distance but they'd seen me, i figured I just walked too close so I tried to get out of their range but when music wouldn't fade and the sky got redder, and they started *following* me... I have never noped so fast out of there, that freaked me the HELL out
Exactly the one that killed me the first time, but I was coming from the other side so I had more than enough time to see them. Didn't help, got grabbed and got the life sucked out of me as I laid there paralysed!
I got lucky, my first encounter with these things, I was on a horse. It was a slow horse so it turned into a horror movie chase scene, but I got away ungrabbed.
Admittedly I’ve been spoiled on a good few things in this game. I’ve seen the ending cutscenes beforehand, I’ve seen what happens to the Master Sword and so on. I did not know these things existed. I think the last time I was this terrified was while encountering the Warden in Minecraft. Both the Warden and Gloom Hands are legit terrifying in their own ways.
I got lucky my first time encountering this thing: I saw it spawn a few meters away from me. I knew what it was, since I'd seen a video about it, so I just noped out.
Funny enough, if you managed to get a picture of phantom ganon and the sensor+, set phantom ganon on the sensor and it will warn you if there is a gloom hand spawn point nearby.
The best part is that they don’t even give you a sign in advance that they’re there. The only warning you get is a sudden jumpscare gloom puddle, by which point it’s probably already spotted you and it’s too late. You can’t spot them from afar, the only way you can know one is there is by waltzing onto its doorstep If it weren’t for maps on the internet telling me the locations of their spawns, I would be running into these things everywhere without realising and/or eternally paranoid that they could just pop up whenever they felt like it
Dude the first time I was luckily at the top of a hill and could panic shield surf away, the second time round it was in a cave and I managed to kill it after dumping 60+ arrows into those ugly hands. But I wasn’t ready for what came after lol.
The first time I saw these was super creepy, I was exploring a Mountain who knows where and I saw them far away and said "wth is that" so I approached it only to face a terrifying death, specially with that creepy music that plays when it sees you, Its like the one of the blood moon
I think I was in this exact spot when I first saw this thing, though approaching from slightly further to the right. I literally wasn't able to comprehend what I was looking at for a solid 4 seconds until the hands screamed at me and immediately activated my fight or flight response as they crawled toward me at high speed. Even the gloom pool itself is freaky, the way it spreads across the floor like a virus. you just like don't want that shit to touch u lol. Such a cool enemy.
If you have a shit load of hearts and some good weapons, fighting these things even with melee isn’t so bad and the Phantom Ganon phase is actually pretty fun!
That's The only enemy I hate most in Tears Of The Kingdom is the moving malice Gloom hands, last week when I was on my way to the shrine and when I first saw one I'm like 'What the fuck is that thing chasing me then I've noticed the skys turn red just like the blood moon.
The first time i saw these were when i was headed to a shrine. I was on my horse an im like "Oh hey im getting my first blood moon :0"... I was so wrong
I only encountered this once. You think the Guardians from the previous game were scary, you ain’t seen nothing til you see this. This thing was almost as scary as that giant baby fetus from Resident Evil 8.
Does the hands spawn randomly??? My first encounter with them was at the underground looking for the final sage (not the scripted time inside REDACTED🌳) and looking at this comments they had encountered the hands at different locations so it kind of feel they spawn randomly and that’s scary man 😅
Fighting those things at the beginning of the game is hard at first and not recommend, but if ever have to bomb and blind fruit arrow are on way to help you
I hate these so much. I just tamed a horse and was riding in some fields when the music started and the screen went red. Looked behind and saw a bunch of these chasing me. Absolutely shit myself
I got lucky mines got stuck behind a wall it couldn't reach me but i didn't know they could move thats weird i stared to run when the sky was turning red
