🔵Current and former employees at OpenAI (made ChatGPT) are claiming the company is focusing on progress and profits, rather than protection. They stated OpenAI isn't doing enough to prevent their program from being dangerous.
🔵New Zealand just issued new regulations on students and smartphones. They have enacted a country-wide "away for the day" strategy. Meaning that, unless it's one of four specific situations, students may not have their phones at school. Way to go NZ!
🔵Researchers found that fake nudes have a lasting impact on teens. Even after they were debunked as AI-generated, victims still faced bullying, judgment, and humiliation. AI is able to create images that look 100% real and it's harming kid's lives.
🔵As most social media spaces restrict political content, Twitch, a popular live-streaming app, is becoming the hub for politics. Influencers just raised $1.5M to aid Gaza by streaming on Twitch. The app also disbanded its Trust and Safety Team.
🔵Twitter is Rated X. They are now formally allowing adult content, claiming it to be a "legitimate form of artistic expression." Despite the decision, Twitter is staying in Apple and Google's App Stores. Twitter is not for kids and now allows porn.
🔵 iOS 18 will release with Web Eraser, a debated feature allowing users to remove unwanted portions of web pages, like ads. We hope this will allow families to erase explicit content from spaces like Twitter and Reddit. We will test iOS 18 this summer.
