Tech Repair: Sega CD Fuse and Battery Replacement, CD Drive Refurb 

The Sega CD actually had some pretty cool games on it. I don't understand why people don't seem to like it; it was the birthplace of the Lunar series and also had Sonic CD and Sega Arcade Classics.

Very nice touch with the side load Battery holder. Also most don't bother to reattach the ground when adding a holder an other very nice touch.

BTW, you want to be using an ML2032 battery instead of the LIR2032 you recommended. The ML2032 supplies 3v instead of 3.6v, so since the Sega CD is expecting 3v it'll drain the battery lower than it was designed to go.

Bin/cue. You have to be careful with iso format because sometimes people convert the CD music to mp3 so the music may not sound as good

How did you burn the games? Bin and cue format or iso file?

The game gear has one security bit screw on the back right in the middle. The only one I know of except for the carts.

This is the easier fuse replacement, the one on the back takes more effort than the revision 1 board. There is surprisingly a lot of differences between revisions, they aren't small at all. The power adapter is the most common on these blown fuses. You have too many trying to use NES adapters and those aftermarket adapters can do it too.

Which one is the right PSU for the Sega CD Model 2? I've read that Genesis Model 1 would fit but opposite polarity may fry the system... also on the back says "use the 1602 Genesis AC adaptor only"... fuck... if somebody could help me i'd really appreciate it... do you think the 1602 Genesis adaptor could damage the Sega CD model 2 even though Sega themselves say it's the proper PSU?
