The thing I love about Tech Romancer, is that it feels like some sort of little known anime, that somehow got dubbed by Saban and ran for 13 episodes on Fox Kids before getting cancelled for being too dark. Like, I look at Shadow Red and go, "yeah, he looks like he'd be voiced by Brian Drummond".

@@nicksrandomreviews This is what I love about obscure fighting games. They could have been an 80s he man rip off, or bad Syfy series. In some alternate dimension, maybe they were.

@@MinisterWighty Its part of what makes Rival Schools so darn charming to me, despite having never actually played it. I don't want to play it, I want to stumble upon it on a Saturday morning, after a couple episodes of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. Why do we have to live in a world where Battle Arena Toshinden gets a two episode OVA, yet Cyberbots gets squat?

It reminds me of 70s robot anime geppy x for PS1 a game that was made with getter robo but lost the deal, but instead of scraping it, they made their own anime cutscenes/intro, music and some designs and released it and from what I heard, even used known vas for well, character voices and has some neat BG .

ah yes The (not) Super Robot Wars fighting game made by Capcom Still remember at some forum in long dead link that Capcom want to add Zero Gouki/Cyber Akuma but out of time so they scraped it

SHoji Kawamori is the original Concept and mecha designer, so I would expect quite a bit of resemblance to Macross. He is after all one of the original creators and continues to create more of the series

I love how cliche-filled the story modes are, especially as I've become more familiar with the source material being paid homage to I got this along with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 at an EB Games in like 2000, based solely off the premise of, "huh, I wonder if this is like a Gundam Wing game or something?"

It's been 20 years since I played on DC, gimme some credit. 8:52 Diana-17 bears more of a resemblance to Nobel Gundam (G Gundam) 16:14 Going back to Mazinger, Bolon fights a lot like Boss Borot in the comical way. One or maybe both of them even have a fourth wall breaking move, too.

Daichi and Sora are my favorite pilots behind jin Saotome. Twinzam V is one huge Getter Robo reference down to the two transformations getter 1 and 2. If anyone hasn’t seen getter robo they definitely should. BELIEVE IN GETTER!

I actually liked this game back in the early 2000's on Dreamcast and actually own a physical copy of the game. Its a great Mecha fighting game to be honest. Also some of the mechs look like Macross designs. Gourai and Dixen are my favorite mechs in the game.

@@MinisterWighty I get it, most mecha are old and under localized. Even the biggest of them Gundam is still fairly niche, hell AC is basically the only good game that succeeded here, and mostly due to from soft taking an break to farm gamer cred with DS

I remember playing this back in the early 2000's. Here in the Philippines. Main problem is that it wasn't in English. (lmao) Really enjoyed it when I wasn't playing Virtual-On.

Man I loved this game, played this until I broke my arcade sticks on my Dreamcast, this along with Powerstone 1 & 2, the whole Marvel Vs line and Plasma sword. Not forgetting the staple titles like the Street Fighters, Dead or Alive, Darkstalkers, Soulcaliber and Last Blade.

@@MinisterWighty Yes, heck yes I saw that announcement and my first thought was finally! If you want a less known DC fighter there's the 6DOF Psychic Force game, it's complex and wasn't a massive seller back in it's release window but once you got used to it is was pretty good.

Almost as wild as titling your game as Beastorizer. Gotta say that the story paths, while a bit of a pain to clear up all of them, are usually pretty good of a thing to have around though I'm not entirely sure about that monkey one. Pollin sounds like a pain in the ass but the rest of the cast look very good. Did Capcom ever do anything with this franchise after the game? As for the next episode, I have no idea of what game it'll be. It's not that weird Toshinden Saturn port, is it?

If it isn’t obvious Reika was supposed to be the protagonist; Capcom execs thought that only males would buy the game and liked the genre so they made them change direction suddenly. This is why Junpei’s story feels so weird. Also, the bosses were supposed to be playable but they ran out of time.
