@@daylen577 you can try a french press or moka pot, they're very very inexpensive. I make my coffee with a french press with pre-grinded beans from a local roaster. I absolutely appreciate the care and time LTT allowed for Tim to explain his coffee hobby, especially the editors' notes explaining stuff when Tim mentions something that isn't common knowledge. A lot of the difficulty of getting into a hobby is not having the prior knowledge to talk about it -- it's overwhelming to hear someone talk about something you don't know anything about -- but Tim explained the basics really clearly and concisely, and the editors supported him on everything that might be confusing to a casual viewer. @johnmarklowry534
@johnmarklowry534 Год назад
@@RandomUser2401 As with anything else, what you can spot in a blind tasting will depend on how sensitive your taste is and how familiar you are with coffee in general. A relatively new coffee drinker might not be able to distinguish all of these, but I'd assume someone who's brewing a V60 every morning and is into coffee as a hobby could distinguish quite a few of these factors. A list in order of appearance: coffee sourced from a local 3rd wave roaster, grinding the coffee fresh right before brewing, a good grinder with consistent grind size output, using precise ratios and measuring in grams for accuracy, type of filter used and speed that the filter allows water to pass through, pour technique that allows for bloom time. That's the big stuff, but there will also be some minor things like washing the filter beforehand to remove paper taste, etc. You'd be surprised what can be detected through triangle tasting, and if you're curious, I can almost guarantee that he's been watching another RU-vidr who explains all of this in extensive detail - James Hoffmann.

I know you guys have plenty of channels already, but it would be cool to having a Channel not dedicated to tech, but to various ideas that random staff members may want to discuss. This type of video may not have much of a place on LTT on its own, but with the great presentation and production value of an LTT video, videos like this could be really fun. Jesus christ this brought back traumatic memories. I remember back in high school english class, had a project where you present something you think interesting over 15 minutes and mine was RPG Maker. I recorded the media with a camcorder, even double checked the cords and storage, then took the bus to school. Classmates presented stuff like how to use a snare drum, how to wax a snowboard, etc. When it got to my turn, I couldn't get the thing to work. I ended up presenting by just talking and it was one of the most miserable 10 minutes (I could only last that long, I think teacher took pity on me and let me go). Ugh.
