To the RU-vid manual reviewer, This video is merely showing a step by step repair of a broken rifle sight with a durable aftermarket option. Please don't fling this video down the memory hole. Thanks, Jason
When I put my Tech Sight on my pre 2005 Mini-14, I wanted the maximum amount of vertical adjustment available so, I lowered the rear sight all the way down. Then I shaved the front sight down to zero the rifle dead balls accurate at 25 yards.
I made the initial windage adjustments by first center ing the rear aperture then making adjustments with the two small grub screws before applying lock-tite to the mounting screws.
You will have no problems with your 188, I have two of them. It's not the barrel that is the problem, but how well fitted the parts are in the mini 14. People use to complained that Ruger was using worn out tooling and dies in the manufacturing process. But the 187 and 188's where made on the early half of the tooling life span when Ruger had to retool their machines in 1987 with the ranch version and 1in7 twist rate barrels. It's not until the early 2000's with the 197 series you will start to see loser tolerances in the action than earlier models. Try not to expect anything better than 2MOA to 3MOA when the barrel starts heating up. It is just a semi auto carbine, not a sniper rifle.
Thanks for sharing. So far this Mini has proven its mettle. We took it to the range the other day, and tested several varieties of ammunition in it. All 55gr varieties grouped well except for Winchester white box .223 FMJ's with minimal shift in point of impact at 50 yards. I'll try to post a range review this coming week. Thanks for watching!
Nice! I've got a 183- series stainless model with the Samson Mfg. A-TM stock on it. I've been planning to put an AC556 style flash hider to dress it up like Hannibal's gun. Thanks for sharing!
The only Blue loctite i’ve managed to buy has on it for bolts larger than 1/4” but someone said that it’s good for smaller diameter bolts also . Is this true?
Installation looks terrible, looks like it wasn't made for the gun. It also covers up the etched graphics on the rear of the receiver. TechSights contracted with a company in Taiwan to build that sight to there own specifications. TechSights was the one that ordered them made with cheap screws.
Bill Ruger would roll over in his grave if he saw that cheese piece of shit rear sight.they bought 500 to a box for about 20 bucks from tha fine folks in bayshimg.
Bill Ruger would have been more upset by the magazine capacity. While I'm no fan of the PRC or their pot metal garbage the factory peep wasn't anything to brag about either. Thanks for watching 👍
