As an ex bracket racer I have been contemplating the staging beams recently. The long standing wisdom was to use the largest diameter front tires you could fit to the wheel opening. This is to help with the roll out as discussed here. But for dial in racing is this really the best solution ? Lately I’ve been thinking that maybe the smallest tire would be something to experiment with. This would get the clocks started sooner but with less chance of red lighting , hopefully. It would be interesting to talk with some of the older Top Fuel drivers that ran the tiny aircraft tires on the front. It would be very interesting to take some assorted diameter wooden discs to the track to see what you could learn about the roll out versus tire dia permutations.
