*Love the colors and **Latest.Bike** build. Rides smooth right out of the box. If you are looking to get in to riding for fitness, this is a great ride.*
Is this kinetic cycles? I was just here yesterday (02/18/21) and picked up the specialized power expert saddle thanks to Paul. He’s the man! Great review!
I rode for almost two years day after day a Power saddle. I vowed never to replace it because it was perfect. A month ago I received the Elaston version. So I understood what it means more like the perfect! As well as you said, its structure is ideal for very long rides. If on the Power I started to feel ass fatigue after 3-4 hours, with Elaston I feel that sensation after 6-7 hours. Now I wonder if it will ever come to be another and "even more perfect" saddle than this one :))
@@ryannerios4975 Hi Ryan, sorry for the ultra long delay, but I don't know why I've never received a notification for your question. I really can't tell you how or if the saddle will help you. Until I found the POWER type saddle I've struggled for years to get one that fits me. It's all about the bones and anatomy , so the only way to find if it works or not it's to test one for at least one big ride.
The Power Arc is different from the Power Saddle also in that the Power Arc has a rise from the rear of the cutout to the back end of the saddle. This makes you sit further forward on the saddle than the Power saddle which is more flat from nose to rear. Also the Elaston saddle is NOT a model of saddle it is a type of padding and it is available on The Elaston Power Saddle and the Elaston Power Arc Saddle.
This was great thanks for posting this vid...My Romin is falling apart and being a TT guy I find the drops high on the road bike compared to the TT rig so end up spending 90% of my time in the drops.
I have the OG Power on my hardtail and Tarmac. Love that saddle. I have the Power Arc on my marathon full suspension race bike. The difference I notice is like you mentioned. Still, it is difficult, for me anyway, to say one is better than the other. I believe they are the best saddles made. But, also like you mentioned, I found a saddle that works. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Been thinking about getting a Power saddle. Still looking for the close to perfect saddle. Going to the shop tomorrow to check them out.
I wish specialized would make more of their saddles in the wider widths, I had a 155 toupe that was too narrow for me (145mm sit bones). I've now got an old romin 168mm off a friend but to get a new 168mm saddle is really expensive, if only the toupe sport came in a bigger width. Power and phenom both have great reviews but only come in 155m which is too narrow for me :(
Maybe check out a Power 155 in the shop. I have a Toupe S-Works, Phenom Pro and Power Pro Elaston. All are specified as 143mm wide by Specialized and marked as such. However when i measured their actual widths across their widest parts the Toupe was the narrowest in the low 130's. The Power was the widest, actually measuring over 150mm wide. So the Power that is spec'd at 155mm by Spesh is likely 160-something mm wide. Also the Romin is more rounded across the top, kind of like the Power Arc. Another factor that may make the Power (non-Arc) feel wider since it is less rounded. The geometry of the power is quite different. If you get a Power, make sure to measure from the widest part of your current saddle to your bars or center of steerer. The mount the Power and locate it such that its widest part is the same distance. I went from a Toupe to a Power and not only is the Power overall shorter but also the Power has more tail, its widest part is further forward. So compared to where my Toupe was mounted the Power looks really far back. But actually the widest parts of the Toupe and Power are nearly the same distance behind my BB.
The power saddle is somewhat similar to the phenom. The idea behind the Power is to make the saddle as "painless" as possible while riding. Make the saddle disappear so to say!
Thanks for the review. How does sitting more forward on the saddle feel on your road setup? Given how far the cut-out extends towards the nose I'm wondering if its really possible for even a short amount of time. I spend about 40% of my ride sitting more on the nose so do you think this is a realistic option?
The nose is very comfortable, to the point where you can feel serious discomfort within seconds. You should be sitting very far back. Whoever likes to use their nose for full-weight support should steer clear of the Power saddles. Although I thought people only use the nose for climbs, seems counter-intuitive to me to use the nose regularly, why not just move the saddle forward (honestly curious)?
Hi Cody, would you please comment a little further on the set up of the Power? I'm trying one out having thought it might be more comfortable than my Phenom. Since it's 3cm shorter than Phenom would I mount it 3 cm further back? Also, it seems to be not as tall/high as the Phenom which has me raising my saddle about 2 mm. Thanks for any advice.
Riding is a very personal evaluation. Not sure that would be that helpful for a review. Shape, materials, finish, are all you can really hope for in a review.
I just ordered the power expert going from the bikes oe sodimzer, only worry I have is i seen a note : Oversized 7x9mm carbon rails are not compatible with seatposts equipped with side-load clamp mechanisms for 7mm round rails, anyone know what that means, thanks in advance.
Just FYI I bought it and it fits perfectly on a one up dropper, I think the side fixing seat posts are only on really old bikes, I think most bikes attach from top and bottom.
