You can‘t drive all that gear via the Cirklon. And of course you wanna sync your DAW too, at least for Audio and use internal sequencers of drum machines etc.

What can the Cirklon do with MIDI that the Octatrack can't? Besides the extra midi tracks

The Cirklon runs circles around the Octatrack MIDI sequencer, which doesn't even have the conditional triggers the newer Elektron gear has in its sequencers. Check out the aux functions in the Cirklon manual - basically custom MIDI effects that allow you to modulate CCs, NPRN, notes, timing, and pretty much any MIDI message - SYSEX support is planned. Instrument definitions, CV control (with a break out box), more than 64 steps, MTC support, and more. I'm a huge Elektron fan, but the Cirklon is in another league.

maybe I am wrong, but I am not satisfied with Octartack as a MIDI sequencer. I manupolate with Length and different parameters - no effect. Octatrack is a great device and i will keep it for sampling, for voice sampling and live insteuments sampling, but not for MIDI sequencing at all.

tbh one is a sampler the other is a dedicated sequencer, you're comparing apples to oranges

Not sure, unless I missed it in the video. I have a Cirkon, which I sync to my DAW (usually Ableton) using an Expert Sleepers USMAO. It has a MIDI plugin that converts audio out from my interface to a MIDI clock signal and transport. So Ableton audio to USMAO, and USMAO MIDI to Cirkon. I think it will also pass other MIDI info (notes, CC, etc), but I don't use it for that. When using the Cirklon, I mostly use Ableton as a glorified multitrack, and just control the transport and clock from the DAW. Works great - much better than any other method I've tried. Can even overdub with everything in sync.

thanks for your reply. sync is everything. I'm not using a computer, but capturing hardware using the MPCX. the X drives an engine sequencer which in turn drives additional CV and DIN devices. always looking for ways to keep things tight. the cirklon looks very appealing.

Exact same setup here. It is glorious. Hitting record and printing every track in one take is quite satisfying as well.
