Best reviewer out there for sure. I’ve been looking for videos on this bag and you’re the only one that actually shows how much can fit inside. All the bells and whistles doesn’t matter to me if I can’t fit what I want in it. Nice job.
Been in the market for a very versatile, and convertible pack. Looking for a work and travel pack. This one definitely gets my attention. Comparing between this and the new aer flight pack. I like clamshell opening, but I do prefer a classic pack opening. Definitely on the ropes between these two packs.
Great review as always! I've had a few Incase ICON backpacks for my work travel which (pre-COVID) involves lots of flights, hotels & a full bag of tech. To date I’ve regarded it as the “gold standard” - nothing flash or fancy, but everything fits & has some sort of pretty close to specific storage space. I travel with a Surface Book 2 (15.4"), Surface Go, phone & universal cables, laptop charger, AC travel adapters, sunnies, glasses, wireless travel mouse, over-ear headphones, backup battery then the usual emergency toiletries etc. The one Achilles heel to the ICON & most other backpacks in this “no clothing business travel backpack” category, is space for files or better still, a work folio like the Bellroy Tech Folio (I personally use a This Is Ground Mod Laptop 3, R.I.P). As soon these things are added the bag struggles to close. Over the years I’ve cracked laptop screens & (eventually) burst the bag seams. If the ICON was 2” thicker through the body it would be perfect - it’s already got the pockets & organisation structure. Point of my longwinded post - how would you compare the capacity of the ICON which you’ve reviewed before & this 26L Shadow Backpack when it’s fully loaded? Am I better off to go with another ICON & kill it or will this new bag be a better fit?
For an against the elements bag, it's sad to not see any elements test. This is why I tend to think real elements bag uses roll top. Will water sip in where the zip meets ?
Ed my man, ask Rushfaster to get you a pair of new cameras. The Moire on products looks so bad and distracting. Great review as usual. Also, an updated guide to camera slings for the small mirrorless cameras ( like the Sony a6000 series, Fujifilm cameras, Canon M series, etc. ) is appreciated!
The 22L is definitely shorter by a little and you don't get the bottom lash straps. I think if storage space is a priority, you should go with the 26L. The nature of the build doesn't allow for heaps of flexibility in space (some bags you can really push their limits), but for the Shadow - it's pretty fixed. - Ed
It's mainly just tossing up the pros and cons for each and seeing what weighs more in your favor. With the Shadow, you get full clamshell access to the clear main compartment. With the Day Pack 2, you have a few separated 'main' compartments (which is a plus depending how you carry). The Shadow also doesn't have an external water bottle pocket (which is a dealbreaker for some), the Day Pack 2 does. That should get you started, hope that helps! - Ed
It looks perfect in almost every way (even more than the CPL which is a bit big looking) but doesn’t seem to have the ability to swing and pull out stuff from the side? What a bummer!
Thanks for the review. No water bottle pouch outside the bag? Water with thousand of dollars hardware doesn’t go well. You also didn’t mention if the laptop pocket is raised over the bottom, it wouldn’t be a laptop bag without this feature.
it is suspended for the laptop, there is a water bottle pocket that you can get that can attach to either side of the side handles. I have the bag its nice. only thing i dont like is it is kinda hard to stand up on its own if it isnt packed to the max
@@RushfasterTVw so? I read that the two handles on the sides are permanently attached. How would Ember Black’s own water bottle mods be attached on the side of the Shadow backpack when you can’t remove the handles? Or would it end up below the backpack? Also curious whether or not an 16 inch MacBook Pro 2021 (26 by 36 cm I believe) could fit in the laptop compartment of Shadow 22, could it?
You probably could use it for campus purposes yep! You probably can fit 2-4 big books inside, but it will get tricky depending on what else you fit into the bag and those other compartments. - Ed
It will work reasonably well in heavy rain! Bonded zippers as well as the super water-resistant materials help a lot! But it wont guarantee 100% protection even though it does very well. - Ed
@@RushfasterTV I really haven’t had use for a pack in over a year…but I find my Mystery Ranch Carryology Assault pretty close to perfect for EDC. When we start traveling again I hope to put my GoRuck Guerilla 26L to use.
That's true, most videos on bags will start off with the inside because the silhouette is the first thing we see. Some channels might show a snippet of the inside early on, but we prefer to take people on a journey with the bag, starting from the outside and working our way in. That's the nature of our format. But to make things easy, we've got video chapters now so you can quickly skip to the main compartment if you want to check that out first. Hope that helps Edward! :) - Ed
