I like Technics decks, they had some sharp ones, I have an RS M85MK2, direct drive, mic inputs and I call it my nakamichi eater, makes a normal bias tape perform like it's metal tape, a sreaming 🔥 top end with wide dynamic range, SMOKES naks ALL DAY LONG! In '78, it was $800.
Technics made great cassette decks from that time onwards. I recently bought a RS-B605 for £4 5 euos a bargain. There"s nothing wrong with it even works well with dolby C with TDK tapes. It even has dbx It seems to make normal cassettes sound like (or better than) chrome cassettes on other cheaper decks
I found a NAD cassette deck from the 80s and a local electronics shop was able to get me a replacement set of original belts which I fitted and it worked perfectly after that. I think the belts came from some sort of specialist parts dealer and they were apparently the last ones in my country!
It's very sad that you don't understand where this deck comes from. I am very sad now. This was the first deck I purchased with all of my teenager money in Finland. 1500 Finnish Marks, about $300 US at the time. This deck comes from FINLAND! The sticker tells it all: "Sähkötarkastuslaitokesn Hyväksymä" (Finnish) and "Elektriska Inspetoratet Godkänd av" (Swedish). The deck originates in FINLAND! Maybe this is my former deck, who knows....
Thank you for not breaking it. After seeing you 'have fun' with a floppy disk drive, I thought you were going to stick a screwdriver in it. Cool deck. Love it.
That little round sticker on the back of the deck says Approved by the Electrical Inspectorate. It's finnish and it's great to think that this deck probably was sold in finland and now it has come to you! :)
This was my first "real" tape deck!! I really loved it but at some point the processor started doing weird stuff, stopped and started whenever it wanted, buttons did not work and it had some other faults. I wish I could find one of these again, no other tape deck I had since then came close regarding those BIG and beautiful VU meters!! If anyone has this deck for sale at a reasonable price, I might consider buying it. By the way, I'm from Germany as well...keep up the good work! Greats videos! Wieso schreibe ich eigentlich auf Englisch...naja, auch egal... :)
Mine did the same thing. Sometimes when you switched it on it would go into record mode just as if you had selected timer record. Mybdealer let me part ex this for a new Technics deck as he didn't think it was a worthwhile repair. Shame really as it made good recordings some of which I still have
Nice! One thing I've noticed from watching your videos is that nearly all of the components that feature in them have the controls labelled in English. Is this generally the norm in non-English speaking countries? I guess I just assumed that the controls would always be labelled in the language of the market they were intended for.
+MrSpengler1234 Doing that would be way too expensive. Even the German producers started using mostly English labels or even dual-language labels in the 70s.
This was not for sale. Since your question is a very general one, I only have a very general answer: Use a good quality cassette (Chrom; IEC-II) in a good quality cassette deck with clean heads.
If I recall correctly, the memory function just triggers the selected function (stop, play, repeat) when the counter passes 000. So to program the memory functions, you have to reset the counter at the right time.
