I bought one new in 1981. Still have it. It had one minor problem that was repaired under warranty. After that, it still works great. It takes a full turn for cueing unlike the1200 that cues on 1/4 turn. I've used Stanton and Audio-Technica cartridges on it. The Audio-Technica sounds best.
Yes that's typically what I set. Sometimes the stock headshell s are a bit light. If you can't get 3.5grams try adding a small amount of blue tac under the headshell to add some mass
Thanks for the video. I have had my SL-D3 since the 80s and it served me really well. Recently however I kind of broke the cue lever, it basically came out, and I don't know how to do to put it back in place. Also, if I wanted to service it, what do you think would be a fair cost? (I am based in the UK). Thanks!
There's a plastic cylinder that the cue level slots into under the tone arm. These can wear out or crack. If you disassemle it you may be able to super glue it back together so it will hold the lever or you can find a parts unit so take the cylinder from
I did open the turntable and found inside a small piece of plastic which I believe is the one you are referring to (or at least a part of it, it doesn't seem to be the whole piece). I tried to find out how the lever and the cylinder worked together but couldn't figure that out. The lever just didn't seem to find a place to fit in or at least I didn't see it. Anyway, not having the lever is a minor hiccup, but if you have any other suggestion please let me know, thanks again!
Damn I got a deal then, I got a great working one with a Kenwood receiver that acts as my pre-amp and speaker amp. Also came with Marantz speakers that sound pretty good all for 70 dollars. No dust cover though and the cart and stylus needed to be replaced. I just took the AT3600 that was on this POS table I got from Amazon, it’s that 1 by one TT that’s has the great looking cherry red finish. It’s crap, would not keep time. Was spinning at like 30rpms. I’ve been super happy with this new setup.
