I just got my D2, I don’t have it hooked up to anything yet, but just plugging it into power, should it at least turn on, even if I don’t have it connected to anything else? Looks very clean, oiled, new acrylic dust cover etc. went to plug it in just to see if it powered on…nothing. I’m new, and now I’m panicking.
Hi there With your help I got mine working very well. Thank you. Is it easy to take out the spring hinge for the dust cover? Cant seem to work out how to release it as one is broken as are the hinge tabs (usual technics flaw). Best wishes
Very nice! Sounds and looks wonderful! Question for you, is the tube amp or device required for a tape deck? I didn’t understand the purpose for it in this case.
I scored a pair. Just refoamed the woofers. For some reason I am having trouble with sound. But I’m trying out of an audio interface from my computer. 🤔
What do you have your counterbalance set at? Also how do you have your anti-skate set. For some reason my tonearm lifter doesn't lift up all the way. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Hi, I have a question: in my case the hinge attachement on the side of the record player is also broken. I found replacement parts on Etsy, but first I have to dismantle the old one and how hard I try, I can't manage to remove the pin from the hinge. Anyone has succeeded in repairing this?
Great video. There is one of these on EBay and am interested in it's quality. Have ahd a Sony PS-T2 table since 1978 and it has been a workhorse. Damn, it is growing on me.
Hi there, I have one of this since about 79, but it's getting slower and even if I go all the way on the pitch control to speed it up, it won't do it, I have seen videos about some turntables having some screws on the bottom to adjust speed but I don't see nothing like that on this one? Should I disassemble the bottom cover and look for those? Have you seen them somewhere? Thanks
I picked up this player a couple of weeks ago. On random play, do you know if it will randomly shuffle between discs? Mine seems to only shuffle songs on the same disc, not all the discs. I would think you could hit random and it would shuffle songs from all five discs, but mine seems to only shuffle songs from one disc. Maybe it shuffles songs from one disc then when it finishes playing all the songs from that disc it moves to the next disc?
I just picked on up off of Craigslist. Only two light bulbs in it were working What a PITA to replace the mode indicator ones and the dial indicator lamp. Drove them out from the back with a t10 .I upgraded to Blue LEDS, I know true audiophiles dislike that ! I never want to replace these lamps again. This sounds Awesome considering what they make today ! Nice demo Thanks you
Yes that's typically what I set. Sometimes the stock headshell s are a bit light. If you can't get 3.5grams try adding a small amount of blue tac under the headshell to add some mass
One feature I wish it did have was shuffle all songs on all CDs. When you hit random, it will shuffle all the songs of a random cd, then move to a different random cd, shuffle all those songs, then move on again. Can you confirm there isn't a way to shuffle all songs on all cds?
I got it off eBay. It was a Schadow SDU3P. I'd check mouser and digikey first thought as they're probably cheaper than the guy that tries buying out their stock to upcharge on eBay
Really appreciate this video. Helped me fix my repeat issue. Mine wasn't the white clip with spring, it was the pivot in the center, but this helped me fix it. Thank you!!!
I also got my hands on this receiver. Done some deoxit / alcohol cleaning on the inside, lubrication of the knobs and changed the lights to led. I love it so far! Phono and radio are working, the rest is untested. But that is exactly what I'll be using it for. Only thing for me - as a newbie - is the speaker wire screws on the back. Do you have tips to make it easier? Do spade plugs work on these type of screws?
Nice job.. Looks great lite up and agree with you and others, that LED dont work with a vintage unit. Always liked the look of the 727..and mine is now doing great after all these years...just in need of a pair of OEM (prefered) speaker wire jacks/connectors for set C... - Nice job there...!
Thanks for the video. It was really helpful. I am having 2 issues with mine that I cant seem to figure out. 1. the size adjuster on mine getting stuck if you put it in 7" size not wanting to come out, it appears that everything is moving fine its just that the design feels like the tip gets stuck behind that larger curve. 2. in auto mode the tone arm goes all the way to the inside of the record then returns. It is not stopping at the edge of the record. Any thoughts on either? or could they be related. I do have the size at 12" when its doing this. Thanks
Fantastic. In my case, the part that needs repair is the fixed part, on the turntable itself. Could you tell me if there is a replacement part for this?
I have the opportunity to buy an SL-Q2 that has been serviced and gone through completely and is in perfect condition. The guy who's selling it has installed a brand new Ortofon 2m red cartridge as well. He's selling it for $238. Would you say that's a good deal?
What cartridge do you have on this turntable? Picking up a JVC QL-A2 with the original headsail and cartridge. Looking for info on what will work well/fit.
On this one I just had an Audio technica AT3600L. If I'm remembering correctly it has a pretty high effective mass tonearm so look for something with low compliance
@@steved1129Another question, sorry. Did you do those repairs to the speed control board yourself? I’m looking into buying the replacement electrical parts and tackling the job myself. Not sure if it’s possible to do without an oscilloscope however.
@@ethanowusu7952 I did do the board repairs myself. I should have made a video but didn't think of it at the time. You'll need a scope to adjust the wave forms to align the quartz lock. I used a cheap PC scope and it worked fine. This thread on audiokarma helped me through the repair.
Same one my dad had. I have recently purchased all of the stereo components he had in 1980 and this is the very last item I need to purchase to complete his collection. Would love to get hold of one of these. Good old turntable.
This was the first receiver I ever brought. I got it from a cheap little place called Plaza Stereo in Reisterstown Road Plaza in like 1978 or so. This puppy could crank out the sounds for a mere 33 watts per channel. When I owned my Sanyo 2033 receiver it never gave me one lick of trouble. I kept it for years till I gave it to my best friends.
