A great shape Technics SU-V9 to add to my collection. It is one of the best sounding amps I own now, and it has dethroned my Luxman LV103 as my studio amp. This thing has balls, and is unbelievably clean.
Just today I turned mine on to test it for sale, and the exact same problem! I did not pay attention to that flat black cable that was moving the switch in the rear. Sprayed it with Caig Fader Lube, viola FIXED! Thanks for the video! And yes it is a very powerful amp that my cousin was a one owner of till he passed, it is a great sounding, heavy piece from 1981.
dave, I wanted to thank you for your video because after reading it I looked for and found a technics su v9 in Germany that I received a few weeks ago.
One of the best amps Technics made, I've wanted one of those for a long time but they're hard to find in good condition. Bags of power and beautiful sound.
I have the SUV909 version, bought new by my father in law in Germany when stationed there in 1982. (similar to a few others commenting here!) It’s travelled from Germany to the UK, and is now in Australia.
I love Technic's products...... When I was a mobile Dee Jay I had 2 set ups..... I had 2 Technic's turntables on one set up and 2 Hitachi's on the other set up...... All four turn tables has the S Tone arms style.... I used Ortofon styli , they were pricey but sounded great............ Great video as always Mon Ami.......
They were beautiful amps, very well put together and to be honest we rarely saw them in the workshop. I never could afford one back then, and doubt I could find one in good nick nowadays. Great video as always :)
I bought a nice Technics SU-V4X because these are also underrated for what they can do. I wanted the pass through for extra connections. And it sounds fantastic.
Thank you for the video. I have the same amp but unable to use because of dirty switches. I will be cleaning them soon now that you have shared the information.
I purchased the same unit back in 1982 when I was stationed in Germany. I have the exact same issue with mine at the moment. I'll be purchasing some De-oxit and cleaning the contacts. I bought this and a Technics Space dimension controller SH8040 and the amp for $353.00, times have changed. I still have my Technics SL-10 turntable and ADC Sound Shaper Twenty graphic equalizer, Klipsch and AR58's playing the classics
Thank you for this video, I dug out this amp (Japanese version 100V) from under my near trash pile. It was running great until the switches cut out on me. Cleaned it out using your suggestion, the switches in the back of the unit and the bottom panel. It is now running and all the controls (except the Phono 'cause I have to dig my turntable out, too) check out. I will be connecting it to my larger speakers later today. Still have the laundry to do. 😀😃😄
