Consumer electronics repair technician with 40 years experience in the field of Audio, Television and VCR servicing. I'll show you the tricks to fixing many simple problems that appear over and over in consumer electronics. You will also see new equipment not only reviewed, but taken apart and examined for build quality.
I like to go on road trip, and record these trips on my 4K and HD cameras, to provide a drivers seat view of some great high speed super lapse scenery videos.
It's very common (haha, pun INTENDED) to common the +ve lead on LEDs or other things, and have separate ground leads when you use low side n-fets driven from a microcontroller to switch external loads.
I heard on a different video.Someone commenting on the grand canyon area that the drones are not allowed for a specific reason. That specific reason is that apparently there is ancient structures in the area that were created and perhaps even currently occupied by beings other than regular people. I won't comment on it anymore. So as to not draw unwanted attention. But you could perhaps search those facts out yourself if you are curious.

Hello, very interesting video. If I have a tape that has snow on it where I can't see the video but then the other tapes have a clear screen. Is that a problem with the tape or a problem with the VCR??
So I bought 2 ccd trv99 and they both have the same problem where they playback old recordings fine but when I put in my hi8 tapes it's just a garbled mess on the screen and audio just popping is there any way to remedy this with with deoxit or does deoxit on tapes cause these problems cause on my other hi8 camcorders it plays fine. Or could it be bad caps on both of these camcorders.
@12voltvids so could it be the caps cause I play the tapes on a Samsung camcorder, and they play just fine because I sprayed deoxit on the ccd trv99 heads but cleaned it and it plays back fine but the new recordings I make are having problems so just try a new hi8 tape cause the ccd trv99 is a hi8 camcorder.
Great video! Our MCO1610WF blows the fuse when the door is opened. All normal until then. Likely a primary switch fault? Are the top and bottom switches both primary and the third secondary?
On most the primary it top and secondary is one if the bottom. The second bottom switch stops the timer when you open the door. The secondary is a normally closed switch. The primary and timer normally open.
IVE GOT A QUESTION FOR ABOUT A CASSETTE PLAYER … Where is the speed adjustment on Pioneer double auto reverse cassette player???? Thanks. Kenny from South Carolina.
Recently I started kinda copying your servicing workflow. I no longer disassemble things to more extent than needed. In the past I would remove almost all the gears from the machine, try to lubricate them and put everything back together. Nowadays I value my time more, this works just as well. In the end nothing must stick, that is all that really matters.
They only used to be serviceable because governments forced manufactures to make products repairable and stock parts. People pressured governments to deregulate which they did. Now they only have to replace anything that breaks in warranty period. This resulted in lower costs because stocking replacement parts for 10 years costs a ton of money.
Ohhhhh buddy. I'ma about to make a lot of money. I have found about 7 TVs just this month. 5 worked and 2 were smart TVs with the backlight not functioning. Sold the 5 other tvs for cheap because they weren't smart TVs. 1 70" smart TV and a 40" smart tv both with back light out are about to get died and sold for 150$-250$ minimum on FB market place and/or offer up. This video helped me out a lot!!
@@12voltvids Yes I can imagine,Not as if Sony gear is cheap,I’ve got a lot of Sony gear I’ve collected over the years including a pair of Dev-5 recording binoculars,I bet there hard to work on.
The big problem with these connectors is that pesky element known as oxygen. It alone if responsible for so many problems in electronics and just material in general. Get rid of oxygen and things would last forever. Problem is nobody would be around to use them. 😗
So the grease used on VCR's mechanism is called White Lithium Grease (26:16). I didn't know that. Back then in the late 1980s as an amateur without much knowledge about troubleshooting when I noticed that the grease of the motor's worm gear of the Betamax loading mechanism appeared dried up with almost nothing left I applied some automotive grease and the result was disastrous because it won't eject anymore. The viscosity was too thick for the motor's torque.
Do I look like a give a shit. I wasn't forcing it. There was a piece of wire broken off inside. I didn't break it and I didn't fix it because he doesn't use the radio anyway. Just aux and phono input.
So i just need a to connect wires after the preamp to rca jacks, or i have to disconnect something first? And the jacks get grounded to the chasis? (Probably skip the jacks and have a cable coming out. Grounded to the chasis I assume.) Correct?
I'm sure they can do a lot of damage dropping things. You wouldn't want them to drop a laser printer, either. The mirrors might shift in the Laser/Scanner module. Then your printer will print a giant streak down the page.
Like I care. Its not like its going to be used other than for a few test shoots. I don't have a charger for the original pack and am not about to buy one. I just wanted a way to power it up without carrying around an external battery.
I agree the idea is to play with vintage kit not worry about original shelf queens. I use vmount for my camera’s as I have a universal mount and a couple of good batteries with charger . I also have a lithium car starter which is also good for camera play
The fan you disassembled completely (Cruiser Pro T1/T2) does NOT have the same components as the Pilot Max S. Most importantly, the Pilot Max S has a brushless motor.
Just picked one of these up at goodwill for $8. It turns on, but after putting a disc in the tray, once the disc is in there the display just stays at 0:00 and pressing play does nothing. I’m hoping I can figure out how to repair
i had one of these Akai machines many years ago, it did strip some of my expensive Ampex tapes, the sound quality wasn't very good, not as good as a Nakamichi Dragon cassette recorder i had at the time, i eventually sold everything and used a computer for recording and editing on using Audacity, made some great recordings but wasn't as much fun or frustrating as these tape machines!
