This was a fantastic tutorial! It was really helpful to get a good idea on how to use parameter locking samples in my workflow. I knew I could do that, but I hadn’t quite nailed down a good way to handle it.
An absolute banger as always! 🙌🏻 You are one of my biggest inspirations in this DAWless community. Although my contest entry is nowhere near your level, I feel honoured that I am even in the same competition as one of your pieces. 🙇🏻♂️
@@IhorMedia thank you Ihor The project file is bonus. Good luck and hope you win 🙏 Hope you consider making a series of videos and giving your patreon subscribers the best learning tool. Does one have to buy the sample pack to enter the contest ?
Hi Ihor. I'm new in the Digitak World and watching a lot of your videos in the moment. I love them! It's amazing what you are creating on the Digitakt and the syntak! Really inspiring! I love Techno as you too. Can you tell me a few good sample packs? The offer in the internet is to much....
Hey Chris! Thanks for kind words! It depends what kind of sounds you are looking for. However I can give you a recommendation that works for me. For all the drums and synths sample duties I purchased Samples From Mars essentials library. It's great! It has samples from the most popular drum machines and synths (like 707, 808, 909, Lindrum, sh101, 303, etc). For more specific samples I use loopcloud. For example if I want to make some chill music with a chord stab, I will go there a look specifically for what I need and get just it. Sometimes though I'd find a sample pack that has chord stabs for that or this genre. I'd go and get the whole thing if I have enough points. Hope that helps!
Squid is dope! Especially if you have many instruments to control! Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate you! Talent might be a questionable thing. It is all about practice!
I'm just starting to use my digitakt, partly thanks to these videos, which have inspired me a lot. I have seen that you can use the midi channels to fix the sounds of the samples? And so use 16 samples in the same project? How do you do that!?
And this is when I realize i've been using the Digitakt all wrong! Ha. Awesome track and walk through. Great to see another Digitakt submission for this contest. This is the second video where i've seen someone sending audio from the Digitakt at full volume for recording. Are you dialing back the sound in the device you are using to record? In other words, how are you avoiding clipping if you are blasting full volume out of the box?
Nice! Glad you liked it! Regarding the volume. I always try to run machines at their max if possible. The purpose of this is an easy one - just to not have an additional gain staging step. There are many already (mixer, interface, PA). Some of the machines would clip tho. Especially synths. When it comes to the Digitakt specifically - it has a lot of head room. If you are clipping at max, then there is something "wrong" going on. A few thing for you to think about: 1. When I work on the DT I usually adjust volumes of each track downwards. It's not like I am doing it upfront or to "not to clip", but it is rather a common part of the workflow. Find your sample, work on it, mix it in. And mixing it in usually means reducing its volume. 2. Check DTs compressor settings. It might be boosting too. However it should compress haha. 3. There must be something boosting gain after the DT (mixer, another machine, audio interface). 4. In headphones connected to the DT I would never have master volume on MAX, it is way too loud (for my 80 ohm). Hope that answers your question!
Hey Gabriel! Thanks for your kind words! Appreciate it. For the techno DJs I am super bad with remembering the names haha. One of my favourites is Blawan.
Hey Ihor.. May I ask a few questions (as I am learning, on a STEEP learning curve! Like a sawtooth, with a conditional of only understands every fifth time of watching) :-) When you do the arrangement, and you copy pattern, am I right in thinking, its copying the entire Pattern 1, which is all 8 tracks and their patterns and pasting into say pattern 2, then you adjust all the elements of pattern 2 so you have another section of the same stuff, but with slight variation? Also, am I right in thinking, that you take a track (your snare in this instance) and you load different samples to different trigs? To do that you seemed to lock the last sample to the trig before getting a new sample for a new trigger? Sorry for the questions, maybe I should have asked in the Discord?
