Fun fact. 133bpm is the classic techno bpm used on many classic early 90s Detroit artists. Why? Because that’s the speed you need to cut a track to vinyl if you wish to make an endless playing lock groove loop. Accidental bonus also if you are a maniac DJ like Jeff Mills back in the day, if your records skip while mixing it won’t knock your kick drums too out of sync!
....Detroit Techno, Rotterdam Techno, Man Parrish, Steve silk Hurley, Juan Atkins and many others that have contributed to this genre...imo techno should be about bringing in new experimental sounds that takes people on a musical journey...if it's 133 BPM, change it, bring the journey to a different level... Peace out 💕
@@jonnyd4nger I like to play melodic techno at 127 bpm. It just makes it vibe more, IMO. It's a more sustainable tempo for dancing as well. A lot of purists would scoff at that, as well as say that melodic techno is basically just trance, but I don't care. It sounds good to me.
Did you know the ads some people are seeing before your video are deepfakes of a certain billionaire, promising you'll make millions if you invest in "his" ai? Just wanted you to know how RU-vid is doing you dirty.
Wow thanks so much Ihor, this is simply my favorite track from scratch for the Syntakt that I have seen. Gonna try and follow it. Please. Please do another track like this!
Daaaamn I've been looking at syntakt even though I probs dont need it and this doesn't help.... How would you say it stacks up against RYTM? I've never quite gelled with rytm tbh, I have digitakt and love it, but rytm just feels so muddy to me. Syntakt seems to have a bit more of the 'sheen' of Digitakt. Been considering syntakt+digitakt as a great combo to replace rytm.
Firstly I have to admit that I use the Syntakt much more than any other machines I have, including the Rytm and the Digitakt. Even more than that - I almost exclusively use the Syntakt. I think this speaks for itself. Though there is some recency bias to this. Syntakt is very immediate and easy to deal with. Plus it is smaller, cheaper, a bit more modern I guess. However I don't want to underrate the Rytm. Firstly it is MUCH MORE deeper and complicated machine, than the Syntakt or the Digitakt. Perhaps not that immediate. Synths machines + Samples on top give much more room for sound design. Performance Macros and Scenes are there for you to create your own performing strategy. Song mode (however Syntakt also got one), analog compressor, velocity-sensitive pads, separate outputs for each voice, etc. With that said I'm sure I am not selling my Rytm ever and it has it's own permanent place my studio. I also think I'd choose it for my live shows one day, because of it's performance features. Now when it comes to the Syntakt - it is my go-to tool to jam when I get inspired. I also take it quite often with me to a park or a private party. When traveling it is a must have!
@@IhorMedia thanks so much for taking the time to reply!! Ya the form factor of syn seems so great for that. Rytm feels like I need to setup for a studio session while digits you can jam to. Thanks for your words man and keep up the awesome work
@@IhorMedia awesome just got my Syntakt today what’s your favourite thing about it .. I own the digitone key and digitakt but you say syntakt is your favourite what’s the reason you prefer it
2024 good stuff nice groove and also helpful video ! i liked it ! still couldnt figrue out how i can make some triggres only get triggered when i use " page " wid dim !
Hey Ihor, very nice session, thanks for that. 🙏🏻 I have a different musical background. I play guitar for 10 years and since one. year a little piano. I got into it because my art teacher was a student of John Cage. In her courses we often work with the operator chance to change the perspective on a thing or object. No idea why these circumstances led me to this/your video now. :) Long Storie short: I would like to make my first steps in electronic music. Would you recommend the Syntakt as my first synth? I would not classify myself as experimental. I like percussion instruments as much as big sounding pads. Can the Syntakt do that well enough for a start ( long enough). Also others feel free to give their opinion, glad to hear the feedback.
@@IhorMedia I think Syntakt could perform and generate really good spacey ambient vibes, theres lot of youtube mixes with that genre when typing in Space Ambient music. Also great youtube channel called substan who creates lot of ambient music with Elektron gear, highly recommend to check the channel out
Easily the best showcase I've seen on this. I know I'm late to the party but I'm giving some serious consideration to getting one. Been using the Maschine + for a while. It's fun but I find myself taking a route that the NI sound packs take me. And it's not authentic, to me at least. You made the syntakt sound great. Fair play.
Syntakt coming this week. I’m super excited. I’m gonna copy this tutorial for myself first of all a) to learn the device and b) to create a banging techno track! Nice work. Thanks so much!
Thank you for such a detailed step-by-step! I'm enjoy Techno, but always have problems creating my own tracks. This was very helpful to get an easy start into a song.
I've been waiting for that Syntakt from Scratch video quite a while. Thanks for sharing some of your production techniques! If it's not too much to ask, I'd like to have some feedback from you on my Syntakt techno jams. It would mean a lot to me.
@@IhorMedia Thank you in advance. You can find them on my channel page here on You Tube. This link is one example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E6qAkBUoJWs.html
Слава Україні! Thanks for your videos, mate. Currently I'm looking for a drum machine, and Syntakt is a great candidate to me. Would you mind help me clarify a couple of things? When one plays Digitakt, it is possible to mute the kick and move to the next pattern, with another kick sample muted to build a transition. How one could build a transition on Syntakt? Also, is it possible to have different track settings for different pattterns, e.g. different kicks, while other sounds are preserved?
Hey mate! The mutes. On the Syntakt the mutes work in exactly the same way as on the Digitakt. You got “green” mutes that are global and will behave exactly how you explained. There are also “purple” mutes that can be saved on the pattern level. You can use either or even both at the same time depending on what you are trying to achieve. Is it possible to have different kicks on different patterns, while other sounds preserved? Absolutely. There is no limitations and all depends on how you want to structure your workflow. Let’s say you have 2 completely different patterns A and B. To build a transition you can think of making a third AtoB or BtoA pattern that will have some tracks from A and some from B, or even something specific for a transition. It is you who have to build those transition patterns and make all the decisions on what to preserve and what not. Героям слава! 🇺🇦
Great stuff!! Very helpful. I have been having this issue of all the kick I make in syntakt having abnormally punchy transients. It might be because I used tune in SYN to tune instead of note in TRIG page. Do you have this experience?
Thanks to your video, I understand that i have to put a low pass filter on my bass sounds to not cover the sound of my kick ! thanks for this, and for the content ! very clear, more syntakt vids please ;) A syntakt lover
pretty sure that the one genre we're set on for a while now is "how to make techno with _______" gear youtube videos. they are made for techno. any autistic child could make techno with any of this gear. try making something other than techno. that would be cool to see
is it possible to do reverb and delay automation on each different trig? I know that we know how to dose the quantity but not the kind For example : Kick with reverb with long pre delay Snare with short pre delay small density Perc 1 with 1/8 delay Perc 2 with 1/4 delay or can we only stay with a general reverb / delay parameter for the entire sequence? Thanks for your vidéos
I don't think this is possible. The thing is that you have 1 delay and 1 reverb in total, not per each track. And they work as send effects, not like insert effects. Basically you can send some amount of sound from each track into reverb and delay. However you still can modulate some parameters with an LFO (or actually 2 LFOs) on the FX track. Like I did in this video. Not quite the same, but this can spark some interesting creative ideas.
This video decided that the Syntakt was for me. And after two days of owning the Syntakt, I've completed your tutorial. Thank you so much, my version of your jam is the most polished tune I've made after coming from Circuit Tracks, Ployend Tracker and Maschine MK3. You're a natural teacher. Great work sir!
thanks for the demo. Had similar events with the NI Maschine crashing while storing samples resulting in a corrupt project. I need no competitor which ca n crash best. So syntakt for me will be a nogo. With my rolands never happend such inconveniences.
For me the amp page is where I set the base volume for the sound. While levels are part of the mixer and I like to keep them for live performance and mixing. This approach makes it easier for my brain.
it's canon to explain so simply. she makes me want this machine so much. I strongly hesitate between a groovebox roland tr8s + microfreak or elektron digitak!
Very nice, I don't even have a Syntakt or Electron device, but I just enjoy watching the simplicity of creating and performing Techno on this machine. I might have to consider a Syntakt as a sound source.
Very cool video! Learned a lot. I need to admit that my biggest problem with Techno on Syntakt was rumble, but you pointed me to a thing that is now so obvious, but I could not see it before - smart programming of kick/bass sounds. Really appreciate it! 🖤
