Let's also not forget his love for animals (as seen with his many pets and excitement when he finds different animals) is probably because animals are more loyal than people. He even goes out of his way to go back for the rest of the hounds after he destroyed l'manburg because he knew that if they were found then they'd be killed. and how he stops and drops everything for a horse, even though it's something that wouldn't be logical, Carl has been by his side since the beginning
@@izabela6280 Yeah, I really don't like anyone's roleplaying skill except maybe Wilbur because he actually does his acting well, people like Ranboo, Tommy, Tubbo or Dream though? Straight cringe imo. Ranboo and Tommy all suffer from the same problem, that being taking long ass awkward breaths in between sentences. Yet people still think that's good roleplay. Badboyhalo just doesn't know how to roleplay, Quackity is actually kinda good at it, Fundy is an drama queen(he literally screamed out "you monster" it was so cringe lmao), Captain Puffy doesn't even sound like she's roleplay but rather just screaming and well she also takes long breaths in between, Nihachu gets way too into it and that just isn't good for me, Sam is devoid of life lmao. So this is why I like Technoblade, not serious at all except sometimes, breaks the 4th wall, is the strongest on the SMP and all around actually funny. Sorry for the long comment I just felt like ranting
@@Xeno574 here i kinda disagree. imo Tommy and Ranboo have both kinda good skills. CaptainPuffy doesnt act that much, neither does bbh. Fundy kinda overexposes his acting, at this point i totally agree. And Quackity has excellent skills, so does wilbur. And as i said before, i think Tommy and Ranboo have both good lore line, and as kids who actually don't have any experience in acting (they just learn it from minecraft roleplay) i personally think that their acting is good.
Ranboo would be neat to see, since he has a good lot of lore, and since not too much new stuff has been added lore-wise it would likely be a good time to do one of Ranboo.
you never miss with these. although from the outside techno just looks like an unfair killing machine, he said himself "those that treat me with kindness he will repay 10 fold but though to treat him with injustice will be repaid 1000x worst." him being the skilled player, got him tossed around like a game of hot potato. overall he values loyalty and his morals over anyone. you do him a favor, he will stay true to that. treat him unfairly and he will do the same. good job scrawls
"Those who have treated [him] with kindness, [he] will repay that kindness tenfold. And those who treat [him] with injustice, who use [him], who hunt [him] down who hurt [his] friends, [he] shall repay that injustice a thousand times over"
I was drawn to Technoblade’s character by the impressive skill and strategy, and the complete annihilation in every battle he’s fought… but I stayed because of the character depth and motivations and values.
the whole tubbo execution this can be confusing in my opinion. Tubbo was on his side so it was a bit messed up, but you can't say Techno was completely in the wrong. This is because he was surrounded by enemies and he tried to stall and wait for Tommy or Wilbur to step in. But they just watched it happen and got angry at him, even while Tubbo wasn't that angry. Tubbo is also another super intresting character, a lot of people overlook him because Tommy is louder and more exciting than him. Tubbo's current lore is super intresting because he is grasping for any sort of power that will make him more noticible and powerful, so that nobody can walk all over him again.
I think Techno killing Tubbo was pretty much manipulation on Wilbur's part. We all know that after Wilbur became unstable, he also became incredibly manipulative. Wilbur couldn't have planned the execution, of course, but I honestly think he took it in stride to further his plot. Wilbur could've easily stepped in and told Techno to not hurt Tubbo, and yet he didn't. Remember what happened in the festival. Techno was put on the spot and told to execute Tubbo. He tried to stall, looking at Wilbur's spot on the roof for any sign or instructions, but he didn't get any, and proceeded to do what he does best: violence. After this, back in Pogtopia, Wilbur proceeded to instigate both Tommy and Techno, driving them to fight in the pit and pulling them even further apart. Techno and Tommy's animosity against each other was a good thing, at least for Wilbur's schemes. It cemented Techno siding with Wilbur on destroying L'Manberg. Now think about what would've happened if Techno didn't kill Tubbo, if Wilbur reached out and gave him instructions to not pull the trigger (which I honestly think Techno would've obeyed). Tommy and Tubbo wouldn't be upset at him, they'd probably even be on great terms. Techno would be seen not as a murderous traitor, but as someone who has been helping them since the beggining. Techno would still flip after they gave Tubbo presidency, of course, but I feel like without the animosity of Tubbo's execution between them, they would've been more willing to hear Techno out, and maybe it wouldn't have escalated the way it did. Techno and Tommy + Tubbo being on good terms would mean more hesistance to destroy L'Manberg on Techno's part. It would mean Techno hearing Tommy out, and vice versa. It would mean Pogtopia not marking Techno down as unstable and violent. It would mean Techno potentially attempting to stop Wilbur, like Phil did. But Wilbur couldn't have that, could he? Or maybe I'm giving Wilbur too much credit, lmao. Sorry for rambling! I just thought your comment was really interesting.
@@luca194 that does make a lot of sense I was watching techno’s stream when the festival and execution happened and I kept thinking after techno had executed Tubbo and basically went on a violent rampage I thought, “Wilbur could’ve easily stepped in and stopped him” like even Tommy I think was wanting to step in to stop techno before he does something bad But Wilbur told him not to and continued to watch it happen
I've said this elsewhere, but I want to say it here aswell. I think people would see c!Techno as a true villain, like how we see c!Dream, if he didn't stream. Most see Dream as a villain because we don't know his thought process. We don't see anything that justifies his actions. If Techno didn't stream (or hangout with Phil when he was streaming) then we wouldn't see his justification. We would only see him demolishing nations and keeping tabs on anything close to a government. But, because we know _why_ he does what he does, we can sympathize with him. He killed Tubbo during the festival, not because he was a psychopath or wanted to, but because he wasn't sure what else to do. What was the right option in that scenario? He exploded L'Manberg for the final time. And whilst yes, it was partly for chaos, but Phil explained it was because it was so no more damage could come to the people who lived there. We understand him. Amazing work, Scrawls! These videos are always so fun to watch, and I can't wait for the inevitable Mamacita analysis. 💙💜💙 (Also, I heard that Violence piano cover in the background. Mad respect)
See the difference between Dream and Techno is Dream openly manipulates people and has admitted to caring about nothing but power I still do agree with your main point but there is no justification for what Dream does
@Chemistry Coston I kinda disagree with a few points. c!tommy almost always plays the victim; look at what he did after getting out of prison? He constantly told people, even sam, that they were to blame for him dying when in reality it was him and dream to blame. (c!tommy was hella annoying in that prison so I do blame him there. Cmon tommy, use your brain for once) He didn't choose to get manipulated but he sure as hell didn't make sensible decisions. Idk much about his current arc but from what I know of him, he's a dumb jerk /rp (irl tommy is ok)
In the recent moments of Technoblade's passing when watching, I had horrified chills when realizing he called himself Protesilous, the first soldier to die in the Trojan War, since he was the first to die IRL from the DreamSMP. It feels retrospectively uncanny, yet surprisingly artistic and bizarre. R.I.P. Alex. Rest in Peace
One thing I love about Techno is the he's anything but unfair. When Tommy betrayed him, he warned him of the repercussions and asked him if he really wanted to do what he was about to do. When the butcher army attempted to hunt him down, he warned them to stop before any further harm came. He always gives his opponents a chance. His actions are questionable at best, but he never breaks his own code.
Love how People are debating how techno will escape from prison through meticulous tactics, high tech fancy shenanigans while the man himself just intends to go on a vacation and see dream punch a toilet
@@desadograisedrobot515 plot twist would be that dream does break the bloc of obsidian just before techno leaves and he just see a tired Dream looking at the man "theres another block!" "Then get back to work roomate"
Wow I gotta say you do the most in depth polished character dives of dream smp characters I’ve ever seen. Like even a character who is a joke like Mexican dream you can find hidden meaning in.
Something I like to think for why techno wears the clothes of a royal even though he is an anarchist is because he bows to none, and is king to himself only
It's also to make a mockery of the monarchy, as well. He's a pig in the clothes of a royal, insinuating that the monarchy is swine. Also it's incredibly stylish, in his own words.
I also see his skin as a reference to animal farm. Although being one of the pigs might not fit his character, the story of a rebellion rising against a corrupt government only to replace it with a new corrupt government definitely does
These are by far my favourite and also the most in-depth and insightful character analysis I´ve even watched. I really liked how you looked at his character from both sides and not just from either the Tommy point of view or as a fan of him point of view. Amazing job!
So true upvote etc etc the final pig pun nearly killed me. I really like your analysis on how Techno’s mythical allusions can tell us about how he feels about other people. I think that’s a really sweet character trait. It’s almost like he’s kin assigning other characters and that is hysterical
L'manburg: *Treats Technoblade like an object, bully him, hurt his friends and steal his stuff.* Techno: *Fights back in self defense* L'manburg: "OMG TECHNOBLADE IS EVIL! HE MUST BE STOPPED!" Techno: "Bruh."
I love how everyone dislikes Techno for killing Tubbo TWICE in a span of 5 minutes, yet they gave Tubbo presidency even though Technoblade gave them all Gear he grinded what I can only assume days for AND THEN ROBBED HIM.
I mean, Technoblade has both given Lmanberg time to prepare for the destruction (even if he did start it like 20-30 minutes earlier) and gave the Butcher Army a choice to turn back. So he *tries* to be fair.
I’m a bit late but I just want to say I’m glad you analyzed his character from a completely unbiased view rather than saying he was completely in the right or saying he’s just plain evil and overall it was a really good video can’t wait to see who you do next
I don’t know why, but I kinda wanna see a Skeppy character analysis, mostly about the missed potential he has (especially with the whole disc thing) and about his role in the eggpire (since he is the core of bbh’s motivations)
He is good at roleplay and a master in the art of gaslighting, kinda sad that he feels like he is not good enough. I feel like him and Techno's character are similar when is about being seen as a object and their friendship needs to be talked more, Techno really trusted skeppy to save Carl PLUS is the only one who see him as a person, not just a extension of Bad. His character is good, Skeppy just need confidence and more ppl to do lore besides bbh
man, you never failed to offer a different perspective for a certain characterization the "repaying kindness tenfold" referring to his willingness to humour his friend's surprise birthday party was something i haven't read nor heard before great video as always!! thank so much :D
You know something I noticed in one of Tommy’s more recent lore streams, when Tommy learns Techno is in the prison he at first says that he never wants to go back, but the he says something along the lines of “but it is techno”
Here are the standards for characters: Hero, villain, antihero, antivillain, morally grey, morally good, morally evil, Mary Sue, vengeful hero, vengeful villain, neutral hero, neutral villain, passive character, side character, that-friend-that-always-dies-so-the-character-can-have-more-emotional-damage, Techno is somehow none of these, and most people think the reason why is because Techno off-screen is a real person, he can give his character the depth of a real human because he IS human, but everyone else on the DreamSMP is a real human off-screen but about everyone there fits into those characters' ideals, Tommy is an antihero, Wilbur is a villain, Ranboo is morally grey, like, I've studied how to write good stories, I've written books and scripts, but yet I can't figure him out, all I've gathered is he caves to pressure despite being so strong
10:02 THE VOICES PICTURE IS A SONG BY A VERY TALENTED PERSON, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LISTENING TO IT IF YOU LOVE ORIGINAL SONGS ❤ It's Voices by Derivakat :D
After listening to it again the conclusion has the syndicate song remaked with noteblocks in the backround. And after looking in the description i must accept im a idiot it was a piano all along. Also its nice to see you are back scrawls
Most “dream smp character analysis” videos are quite shallow and surface deep, but I felt this was quite thorough and well made. You should be proud of this!
Personally, I’m voting for a Charlie or Callahan lore video. Charlie because he is a normal flesh and bone man And Callahan because his appearances are not very frequent, but when he is there, he seems to always steal the show with him talking in the chat. Without emotion, his lines are delivered more chilling. Or maybe he’s just smol deer boi and little slime. No clue. Choose who you want to analyze and make a video on!
Dude nice analysis, really in depth. But tbh I just love how the fear they have for Techno isn't just simply from character settings or for plot purposes, it's absolutely real even outside the story as it is the combination of the fact that basically everyone on the smp grew up watching Techno's insane pvp content and just knew from the bottom of their heart they have no chance in winning against Technoblade, and he has personally obliterated every single one of them into oblivion at least once in tournaments. It's just hilarious lmao
Techno has to be my favorite character so far - and I'm so hype to find such an unbiased and in depth 19:36 minute video analyzing his character. In terms of who you should do next (not having checked the other videos you've already made first, I apologize for that: Quackity -- I think that his and Techno's teaming up can be a whole video on it's own tbh, but he's been through a hell of a lot and if nothing else, I'd like to get caught up lol Niki - she's such an unpopular and untalked about character and for what? 'I started baking again' is just.. it's just so good. I wasn't there to catch the significance of her baking, but it's clearly got some huge significance and narrative parallels and I'd love to see it in video form. Last but certainly not least, Ghostbur - I just want someone to say that he isn't just a comic relief, always happy character. Ghostbur, speaking both of the character in and out of rp, is *sad.* Before anyone comments about ghostbur, just think of this: Ghostbur explains that the blue is originally a translucent substance, but you pour your sadness into it, it turns blue, and then you toss it away to feel better. Now, answer me this, what color is the blue when he's giving it away?

Honestly Technos lore has always been intresting to me and he’s always been just my favorite in general Mostly because he’s loyal and isn’t gonna change his morals for anyone And his lore is intresting he’s dedicated, strong, loyal, and incredibly smart in my opinion Techno always has a way to get out of stuff even seen as impossible And that he teamed up with his enemy to help take down something that has been dictating the server is honestly incredible And him constantly being used as a “weapon” during wars due to his streangth also being betrayed In the end Technos Pog
There's 2 things I'd like to mention, 1st of all during tubbo's execution he kept looking at tommy and wilbur waiting for them to do something, but they didn't and let him make all the choices, 2nd of all i think the 4th wall breaks aren't just to make light of the edge and drama, but because he's always been able to get out of a bad situation(usually by violence) he has the confidence that he'll make it out alive he makes jokes about every situation
He did try to negotiate. He made his views clear from the beginning. He even said "I tried fighting alongside you as brothers, and you still went back to the government" (to paraphrase). He tried being an ally, to help show his perspective by helping with the rebellion, in hopes they would get the message and realized their way was not the way. But they never heard him. They never appreciated what he did for them. Like you said, they saw him as a weapon. He knew that from the moment they asked him to join them.. But he had hope that if he helped them, they would see things his way. And yeah, he had a point when he pointed out that even after everything, he still was there ready to defend Tommy against the whole server practically. But what happened when the tables were turned? Nothing. No one... No one tried to stand up for him. They let him be pressured and used.. Just like they were doing.. But all the sudden it's bad now that the other side has done literally the same thing. I mean the nation was created because Wilbur wanted to scam people. Did people REALLY think a country would hold up under a premise like that? Even Wilbur himself saw how corrupt his country had become.. He saw how corrupt he had become. He just kinda handled it a bit differently.... Techno didn't have to be involved. He joined because they promised the take down of a government. That's what he was there for. To take down the government. Yet they act like it's a surprise that after never giving him respect, he just finished what he started and left. He finished what THEY started and left.
After understanding techno's whole lore story after this video, I immediately subscribed before the video finished KNOWING I now have info about techno and how loyal he can be towards his allies. I really loved how you explained this and hope to receive more in the future!!! But for now imma be the new subscriber of the gang so hello!
Dude this video is amazing, I have been waiting for this one!!! You went to depth about his character so well, because that I can understand him EVEN MORE. Awesome job, as always man😌👌
Honestly I'm just waiting for the lore behind Technoblades age. During the birthday party stream he left to talk to Quackity who later asked how old he was and Techno responded with 'Uhh I don't know, its been so long man' makes me wonder if they have anything planned for that.
Another thing I’ll add is that Techno is the character that never really feels like he’s alone, a lot of other characters like Ranboo and Tommy experience loneliness throughout their stories, but for techno he is always accompanied by Phil, or now in this case, Dream (lol)
I don't mean to be that guy, but I don't think this is the first to die that he meant when he named himself that, but even so it's uncanny that he predicted his early demise RIP Tecno
I honestly love the concept of a destructive monster of war who could raze cities but is also vastly educated, it's a juxtaposition that should not be considered one, but it feels intriguing
This is such a good video! I understand both points of view but I see techno as a person that was a victim of "heroes". No matter if he was right or wrong, he always gave them a chance to be peaceful and not violent like when the butcher army came. He gave them the choice to peacefully leave or they would have to fight because techno probably knew this would be no fair trial. Anyway, this was a good video to watch and you get both points of view.
I 100% believe that c!Techno is insinuated to be immortal. Of course he never dies, but he has a profound knowledge of history that no one else does. He knows it like like back of his hand as if he's seen these stories for what they were.
no he murdered people and blew up a country because "government bad" he did terrible crimes but people disregarded his crimes because he was betrayed and used
3:04 You got one thing wrong Techno did not destroy l’manberg because Tommy betrayed him but instead because they attacked Philza and tried to execute him. Also he didn’t get angry because Tubbo was undemocratically given power he doesn’t care about democracy and in fact does not agree with it, instead he got angry when who he thought his friends betrayed his ideals by establishing a new government right in front of his face.
I've watched half the video so far and this is so good! I was really happy when I got the notification that you posted :) do you think you could do niki, puffy or Hannah?
like it a lot but have to disagree with your perspective on anarchy. while it typically does advocate for the abolishment of the government the sort of bloody doomsday is against most political anarchist praxis. but of course, in a story where the rper doesn't know (nor should necessarily be expected to lmao) about political tenets of anarchy it's an interesting version of it. I am still kinda salty it's used how it is by technoblade but having watched him for so long I know he still respects the ideology enough to admit he isn't using it exactly how real people would, it's for entertainment and drama
Strangely I always looked up to techno as a character not just because of the loyalty he has but what happens if the loyalty brakes I'm not a confident person but when I think like what might techno do it does kind of help me figure out a few things like letting people and things go rather then letting myself get used as just a "tool".
One of the greatest vids I’ve seen on Techno’s character he is my favorite on the smp! I love how you showed his goods and bads in this vid! Techno is so complicated and intricate it’s amazing to watch him and I feel many can relate to his story! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! Fly high legend!!
@@melanch0lycat5393 ya but the DSMP Techno the anarchist that everyone loves is like now the only version of Techno we see on other content id like to see his as an emperor of a superpower nation don’t get me wrong I love Techno but I’d like to see his base character and ideology be used in different versions of him
@@nobodyasked3937 it would depands on what the DSMP will consider canon from techno's past, we assume from Quackity that Minecraft Monday (i think) is partially Canon because thats the justification behind his technophobia. I think only the past friendship of Phil and Techno could give us more of Antartic empire lore though
So he is like the character of Handsome Jack from borderlands, a hero who wanted to help the people but got betrayed just too many times by close friends, a romantic partner, the meriff, and even the former vault hunters hired.
Bro don’t forget the best character STEVE (for anyone who some how DOESNT know no the main character Steve it’s technos polar bears) but Steve next let’s go
