Call it compete or showdown, let India do it. China will, as usual, do its own thing the best it can, not purposely thinking of competing or showdown with anyone.

India has a long way to go. For their high population they don’t have enough jobs. 70% still live in proverty and the infrastructure is so behind. Plus China doesn’t let religion get into politics and they don’t suture their government with capitalism.

India has potential but it's way too early to talk about tech wars with China. Currently the only country deserves to be the competitor with China is USA. India is doing great in IT and IT services but China is doing quite good in this section as well. As a matter of fact, all giant size internet companies are mainly in China and USA, like Microsoft, Google, Meta, Tencent, Baidu, Tictoc, Alibaba etc.

The problem with India and Indians in general is that they love to take the short cut. You can't build a sturdy house without digging and pouring a strong foundation. The foundation of a nation is its human capital. China has a literacy rate of 99.8% while India is 76%. PISA which is a reading, math test giving to students across the world in nations that chose to compete in it yearly. Routinely China scores in the top 5, with the top spot usually going to Hong Kong (a special region of China) or Singapore. While India was 72nd out of 73 countries in 2009. The last year India competed. Since India did so bad, it has not competed in PISA since then. So before talking about tech, space exploration etc etc. Focus on your ppl India first.

India is a large country. Yes, it can overtake china - already overtaken in population numbers. In this, india is the greatest power on earth. It can also overtake china in every other field but will take a few centuries.
