How is the 10 degree down angle achieved if the clamp only slides front to back? Is it by the radius of the grinding wheel? If so then an exact diameter as original wheel must be used? Give up the info if you will as I am ready to order. Which style would you prefer for down angle adjustment? Thanks so much.
At about the 4:09 mark, you mentioned that the Tecomec Jolly Evo featured herein is "mid range" and that there is a "higher model." Would you mind writing back to let me an your viewers know which model(s) you consider to be at the higher end of the chain grinder range, mate? Please keep up the good work.
The high end models are the Oregon 520 Oregon 620 all Oregon grinders are made by Tecomec. The Stihl USG is the most expensive I own at AU $1200. The Tecomec Jolly Evo will give many years service. The Super Jolly is the high end grinder with hydraulic assist clamping.
Thank you for posting the video, but I think you’ll find it interesting that the directions in the manual are backwards. The down angle on the right hand cutters is supposed to be away from the operator if you remember the phrase right away. The left hand cutters, down angle is toward the operator. I am 100% positive about this if you read further in the manual, you will see that it says two different things at two different spots in the manual, the right hand cutter away from the operator, and the left hand cutter toward the operator results in a properly sharpened chain.. also you must’ve got one of the only ones that has the proper angles on it because everyone that I have seen has been off at least 2.5° on the top plate, angle, the side plare angle and down word angle. You are right though. It is a great machine when it works properly. 👍
Yes correct the phrase right away I always remember that. And remember pushing knob away from you tilts the guide rail towards you. So the vice go towards you. I have many grinders but only 1 vice type. I did the same for right hand cutters and pushed the vice away. Just think about the tilt vice how it works right away tils the vice towards the operator. Thanks for your comments
Another point is checking the alignment of the center bolt with guide rails I use a mitutoyo straight edge. Using a metal rule is only good if it's 100% flat. I made that mistake also
@@ChainsawUsers yes, I saw a video Stoneybrook made a while ago, giving a demonstration of how the angles were all off and then I went in my manual and he was right. The directions are backwards. I followed his instructions, and now the thing cuts like it supposed to. a couple of people asked him to do a complete set up video. I know I’m waiting for it but I think I’m good. It’s cutting pretty good now. It’s hard to believe that they would ship the thing so out of whack when it’s made in Italy. I will say your machine is a lot cleaner than mine. Ha ha.
When the phrase used right away means push knob away from you for right hand cutters. This is correct the right cutters will move away further away from the wheel when you push the knob. Just remember the cutters left or right must tilt away from the wheel you can't make a mistake if the cutter leans backwaaway from the wheel
