Tecsun PL-880 Daytime AM 

This is a daytime scan of the AM stations on offer in Alberta. I wanted to see if the SR-286 picked up more, but it didn't, at least just with its internal antenna. As you can see on the maps, there are no intermediate stations with which on could test gradations of ground wave reception.
But I also wanted to compare the audio quality between the PL-880 and SR-286. The result: with a good tune on the station the PL-880 wins hands down; but with noise the narrow frequency range helps with clarity, even as it murders quality. But this is not an uncommon practice and many will simply come to expect it.
