There is something very disturbing about seeing a sick serial killer having the opportunity to cross-examine witnesses and appear to be enjoying the attention of the media and the court cameras.
But in hindsight it's the best thing that could have happened. He came across as an incompetent Pseudo-intellectual buffoon. He might as well have plugged in the chair himself.
Yes. I'll simply assume these people didn't know the details of what he did to those women. I am convinced they don't. That's the only way to get through it
I thought the same thing. This guy was an obvious monster at this point. I wouldn’t have been laughing. I would’ve been watching him quietly and analyzing his every move.
The cop was smart to call for backup his instincts told him that Bundy was dangerous .. its staggering to think how many lives he saved in that area by pulling over Bundy (including the teenagers that were alone in the house that Bundy had just pulled into before he ran from Hayward). Bundy's line of questioning is completely pointless other than to serve his own delusions of grandeur .. he really just aided the prosecution! He should have just let his own attorneys handle the questioning ..
Some people seem to forget with Bundys narcissistic tendencies he actually was offered a deal before he represented himself he was offed a deal of life in prison but really taught he’d never be convicted,he was his own downfall to the chair 🪑
It’s absurd how easy going he is. It’s like he has no concept of where he is or what’s at stake. I also can’t help but imagine his law professor’s faces while watching this trial. 😅
I don't pretend to be an expert in law, but since I have learned that in Law School, the first thing you learn is DON'T REPRESENT YOURSELF IN COURT. Please forgive the capital letters. It's only for emphasis.
They just went through the motions. Everyone knowing what the end result would be before it even started. Bundy made a mockery of this whole courtroom trial. Shame on the people who let him get away with it!!!!!
I agree, but they have to go through the motions, and Bundy has the right to a fair trial, and the right to defend himself. You really can't criticize anything Bundy or the court has done here. They have to do all this legally. However, I do agree they definitely want toe easy on him in the courtroom, but overall they had to do most of this.
Sitting through a trial of this magnitude is draining for all involved. Some levity is needed to get through the day, whilst still being respectful to the victims and their families.
Bundy was a smart, charismatic dude..... but he's a HORRIBLE lawyer. He has no theory of defense whatsoever. He just asks pointless questions that do nothing towards defending his case. This is 100% about him just feeding his ego and playing a game.
Unfortunately for Ted, he was arrogant enough to act for his own defense and ignore his five attorneys. They very nearly convinced him to accept life without parole in return for a plea bargain confessing to two of the murders he committed in Florida and one elsewhere. But as one of them said, "It made him realize he was going to have to stand up in front of the whole world and say he was guilty", Minerva said. "He just couldn't do it."
I'm still trying to figure out where an unemployed law student got the money to hire 5 attorneys? If they were court appointed, why would the the State pay for 5 attorneys to defend Bundy? Nothing about this trail makes any sense to me
Ted didn’t take the plea cause he’d have to plead he was insane and he couldn’t do that. He knew he wasn’t crazy and his pride and ego I’m sure wouldn’t allow him too. So in that respect he wasn’t a coward
If Bundy wasn’t such a lousy driver, lord only knows how long he would’ve been loose. Got pulled over in Utah in 1975. Pulled over after escaping from the Colorado prison in 1977 Pulled over again in Pensacola in 1978 where he was finally put away for good
Imagine how long he would’ve got away with murder had he not had an obvious drinking problem……who knows, maybe he would’ve never killed all those girls???
Actually, that's the false persona Bundy presented because he was in fact seriously shamed by the nature of his birth outside wedlock, and that shame was what fueled his behavior. Bundy went to two law schools and never graduated.
Yes we can see he is acting and that in fact he is so ashamed and feeling bad for himself but just don’t want to show all this to anyone. This is exactly how he grown up and how his mum is too. Never show the negative sides or default. He was educated like that and until the end he tried to avoid shame
You can tell he’s getting off on being able to lead his own defense and question those that questioned him. Because he failed law school this was probably some type of redemption for himself. His personality is so fake and I don’t know how anyone ever found him likeable or easygoing.
They say he's a psychopath or sociopath I think he's narcissistic too because he tried to be a lawyer and he never finished law school he doesn't know what he's doing and he didn't do it right
@@Romulan2469 That was my exact thought. I don't think they claimed him as a fan. Heck, if I were a famous person, I would be ashamed if someone like Ted Bundy was a fan of mine.
What a complete psychopath he was! Just asking and dragging out the most ridiculous questions that have zero purpose of the trial! Describe the brown satchel???? I mean he literally has no goal or avenue to go here! Love how the court just allowed him to ramble on for the jury tho
I'm not defending Ted, I am simply explaining. Ted was a narcissist. Narcissists cannot form natural bonds with people or find connection when their entire goal is to have people around to benefit them and what they want; like a parent exploiting a child on social media for attention. It's not about the child, it's about the attention the parent gets and that's what a narcissistic parent wants, attention on them because what they did benefited them. Ted had no bonds (with the exception of his mother and his wife) Because he had no attachments to anyone, he didn't see his victims as people, but things for him to do as he pleased. Objects that would benefit him the way he saw fit and the benefit for him was getting his anger out on the girls who looked like his ex girlfriend because he hated her for leaving him. That's all they were to him were things to take his anger out on. He had no feelings towards them. In fact, Ann Rule, Ted's former coworker who covered his case, would say that Ted was the emotional type. Would be heart broken and have a complete meltdown cry over an abandoned bike, but no feelings towards those he killed. And it's a bit of a dichotomy that this is how Ted acted and what he became (a killer) because he previously worked at a crisis center with Ann Rule where he would save people from suicide who were calling in for help..and he helped them; and even more odd was that one time he jumped into water to save a 3 year old girl from drowning (he was successful)
He appeared like this on camera as he thought in his mind at this point that he would get away with it!!! At this point he couldn't believe he'd been caught. He was pretending to himself. Everyone else in that court room knew how it would end. Ted was kidding himself on. Which proves he wasn't that clever.
As others point out, to see Ted Bundy's "light-hearted" way of relating with others gives us a clearer understanding of the organic "disconnect" in his "wiring" and between his "selves." How he can relate as if he were some sort of well-functioning, socially well-adjusted individual, while being graphically conscious of what he has done to so many women is mind-boggling. He is "something else," clearly what we know as an inhuman "monster."
Its hard to believe its 44 yrs ago its just a scene from a courtroom and of course most in these vids have died but remain fresh in our lives cos of our interest in bundy...... And of course its ridiculous that teddy boy was able to do this.... Like someone on here says only a narcissist would smile as much as he did We know more about these killers now and if bundy was born 50 yrs later nobody would of heard of him.....
@TammyM36 iq doesn't measure true intelligence. He was witty but not very wise and he made many extremely stupid mistakes...one of the biggest mistakes was on the lake sammamish on the 14th of july 🤦♂️
He is very confident that he is a lawyer even though he didn't finished the course. No remorse at all at least he was already executed and he can't kill another innocent person. By the way Carol do you have a video of John Wayne Gacy's trial?
Today is Jan. 24, 2023.....the 34th anniversary of Bundy's execution at around 7:00 AM in Florida's electric chair. If he were alive today he would be having fun reliving his crimes over and over in his head. Governor Martinez wasn't having it. Bundy went poof and women all over Florida breathed a sigh of relief.
legit beats me.i was born in 95 and grew up with technology so this is very alien to me. maybe it was more fucked up in america, here in romania my parents never mentioned any killers or weirdos going around back in the 70s and 80 s
A smart defence lawyer wouldn't want to draw any unwanted or extra attention to this witness and the contents of the satchel etc, Bundy does the opposite and draws extra attention to the satchel and its contents, he outsmarted himself continually through out this trial.
Now, those days were days when investigation as well as defense did make sense. There was no DNA test and no cameras everywhere whatsoever. Those were days for law workers, doctors, etc.
Love this video! I love all the videos you post regarding ted bundy! They are all videos I’ve never seen before! Thanks for posting! They are very interesting videos! ❤
He represented him self is because if he didn't then he obviously has to stay Quite and let his lawyer speak that wud decrease his charm infront of the jury judge and prosecution
@@AdvieAtkins he really does behave as though his life isn’t at stake. I don’t understand him. He didn’t become very serious until the moment he was convicted. It’s as if he sincerely believed he was going to get away with this, then just get out of prison and go back to killing.
@@dewilew2137 Classic sign of a narcissist. They think they are superior to everyone else and are delusional about the reality of their situation. Ted probably thought he could get a not guilty verdict. That's how far detached from reality he was. Also what is even more stupid is that he had a plea deal put together by his lawyers that would have taken the death penalty off the table for him and he wouldn't sign it.
@@dewilew2137 Imagine he was found not guilty. He would have killed again over and over until he was arrested again he was like a very sick drug addict he couldnt stop.
Allow what? Everything you just watched is in accordance with the law and his rights as a suspect. You want suspects to have those rights, trust me. He happens to actually be a monster and guilty but that isn't always the case so the laws and rights we have are important.
@@themonsterbabyyep trial by jury of one’s peers is one of our most fundamental civil rights. the system here works because his argument failed due to overwhelming evidence and a worse defense than the state’s prosecution
No doubt about that. Aside from the bar and actually knowing what you're doing, and he did go to school for it and law school, for however brief, attitude and fake it till you make it can largely apply. If I didnt know who Ted was. I would have assumed his lawyer was the defendant and Ted was the lawyer. 😂
Attitude and presence means everything. He definitely had both. Could have fooled me. I'd honestly believe ted was the lawyer representing the actual Male lawyer in this case, if I didnt have any context.
A serial killer just approaching witnesses as he pleases is just wrong.Clear he has no empathy or remorse or sense of wrongdoing some people are just wired different.
My grandpa and I used to watch these crime documentaries and he always said that Ted was caught because of his ego ….. I obviously didn’t understand what he met until I was a little bit older . His ego can make a courtroom laugh then , but he cried later 😂
Those cops and state troopers did their Job on that day this Hero made an excellent observation to look in his car seen something wasn't right. Thank God for police and detectives and Sherriffs and state troopers to get this guy put Away.
It was all about making a connection between the pantyhose mask they found in Cheryl Thomas' apartment after Bundy left Chi Omega, to the one found in Bundy's car in Utah when stopped by Hayward.
In moments like this, I can’t help but think how ridiculous the justice system can be. Why would you waste so much time and resources to give a criminal who is 💯 guilty the benefit of the doubt and the right to defend himself, only for him to put on a show to feed his narcissism on the expense of so many people
@Joy Georgina oh i didnt say otherwise, trust me! It is just a fact/ a consequence if you will , an end result that we can all observe and agree on.. would a solution be workable? Ultimately yes,i believe so. hope so alas. In another kind of society basis and counsciousness level :D utopic to say or think like that now you might think but, yes let see where we going and really work with what makes more logic, more sens , always. i believe mate
Why would you waste so much time and resources to give a criminal who is 💯 guilty the benefit of the doubt and the right to defend himself BECAUSE EVERYONE DESERVES THE RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES IN COURT IF THEY WISH YOU ARE ADVOCATING FOR TYRANNY THANK GOD STUPID PEOPLE DON'T GET THEIR WAY IN THIS WORLD TOO OFTEN
None of his questions mean anything? How is there no objections to anything he’s asking? They are pointless. And he’s obviously fantasizing about the whole thing
What about that officer and the lady talking and laughing about mosquito bites! Why that behavior was allowed in court with a fkn serial killer acting like a freak lawyer 😖😪 Absurd!
His madness was diabolical. How can he act so "normal" after the heinous things he had done? He appears so unaffected by it all. You would expect him to be withdrawn, self loathing and riddled with shame unable to look anybody in the eye. But he went on as if he was the most popular boy in school.
See, you have to look at this impartially the way a lawyer and a court room would. The truth is that Bundy didn't put on the worst defense, in fact he did what any good defense lawyer would do when there is overwhelming factual evidence against you. You take the procedural strategy, which is try to poke holes in the process of how you were apprehended, investigated, and incarcerated. Doesn't matter how you FEEL about Ted Bundy, or how you FEEL about what he did. He was entitled to due process like any citizen. And was also entitled to be his own council.
This is exactly how we can see he was sick. It’s all about him and his pleasure of show off, of fulling, of being smarter … illusion of smart as he should have pleaded guilty he would have saved his life as he finally confessed so what’s the point of this show or only to pretend he was an attorney and try to full everyone with his innocence. Only arrogance and narcissism.
It seems he wanted to get caught because he escaped from prison and murdered again, if he wanted to escape he would have not done that, I think he wanted to see how much he could get away with
People are wrong in this comment section. Everyone has a rught to speak in court of law even defandants everyone has the right to represent themselves ive done it and been successful and lowering my bonds and gettinf out of jail
Utter psycopath. On trial for his life accused of murder, suspected of being a serial killer and just joking around not a care in the world. Anyone innocent would be either in tears or overwhelmed with fear.
The fact that Bundy is dillusional about representing himself, is in itself disturbing....in his mind he thinks that he's that good looking that people won't see through his narcissistic behaviour, thank god for this judge...Bundy even got married to make sure he looked like a normal person and that he wanted the jury's sympathy is beyond comprehension, his girlfriend was sucked in too.
So who travels around with handcuffs and pantyhose made into a mask, especially after drinking and being out at 3am? Then lies about what they are doing there, it all looks bad. I am flat on my back snoring at that time of day.
Bundy is not as smart as he wants people to believe representing himself not a great idea. Bundy asks cop if he had a search warrant but doesn't argue that he didn't want them to search and cop said Bundy said it was ok to search lol.
"Today I'm pretending to be a lawyer." Lol yeah Ted, you're on it. Smile for the cameras. Had we had no idea who he was, or any context, id have assumed ted was the lawyer representing his lawyer lol. I do hope wherever his brother richard is right now, that he's doing okay and is in good health. He's a victim too and he seems like a really sweet guy. I know theres a joke to be made somewhere, however, im absolutely serious. I hope he is well and safe wherever he is. He didnt deserve this.
