My favorite part of this episode other than all of it was when Jamie was putting in extra money to Nates gift box. Just love Jamie's arc throughout the show.
The fact that they gave Ruppert some humanity before this episode was actually genius, not because it made you feel sorry for him but because it made you realise how much pain he was in when he ultimately lost.
My favorite note about this finale is encapsulated by Ted's final speech to the team at half-time and by the note he leaves for Crimm. He's said all he's had to say, they don't need him to say anymore. Ted hardly has any dialogue for this finale, and in the end we realize that even though the name of the show is Ted Lasso, the show isn't ABOUT him, it's about relationships and learning to be better for each other.
Paid off when they are showing him talking below the empty wall where the "Believe" sign used to be...and it was as if everybody could still see it anyway. That's belief. It worked. The sign (Ted) was a small thing that turned out to be everything, but once you got the message you could hang up the phone. The Ted Lasso Way was reliant on the team buying in and coming together...making it The Richmond Way. Illustrated wonderfully.
Totally agree with that and I also think throughout the series we see how he uses that positivity and wit as a safe guard, but now he is at peace going home to his son and he can finally sit back and just see the seeds he has sown and the relationships that have bloomed.
This show does so many things. I had a Jamie's dad. I reached out to forgive him, and we spoke one last time. He passed exactly 14 days later. I coached a different sport for 20+ years. Olympians, collegiate athletes, all-americans. It came from coaching the person first and the sport second. I made the choice to no longer miss weekends when we had our little girl. 5am practices 7pm practices.... I miss it, but my family knows I'm present. When they get older, I could always go back. When my kids shout for me at 615a, i am available. I loved this show. I just don't know how to recreate this magic.
I looked back at 'Sunflowers' and the Dutchman left plenty of interesting clues in the decor of the boat. Lots of aviation memorabilia and his revelation that he had been in the military. And one other thing I noticed in his wall decor: three little birds. 'Mom City' gave us a bunch of Wizard of Oz references so they foreshadowed Ted goimg home so heavily - but then that makes so much sense with his character.
I was holding it all together during the ending. Then I saw Sam on the Nigerian National team and I burst into tears like a little baby. What a finale, what a show.
Thank you Angela... for sharing your insights, your inspiration, humor, and most of all, your heart. IMHO, the funnylilgal reactions for Ted Lasso are arguably the most heart-felt, genuine and entertaining of any series reactions found on RU-vid or Patreon. It's been a pure joy to participate here. There's nothing left now, but to be goldfish.
In a finale full of callbacks and calliuts-Jamie running Nate’s play from season one, fans chanting “Wanker” not at Ted this time, Ted saying he would never learn the offsides rule, &c…-I think my favorite has to be Mae straightening out Geronimo. That’s a call out to the Cheers finale when Sam straightens out the same Geronimo picture just before turning out the lights for the last time in the bar. I think Sudeikis being the nephew of George Wendt, who was Norm on Cheers, always wanted to include that as a nod to his uncle and what he considered a great comedy show.
I like that Ted said "Now I know at least one thing about football" during his halftime speech. Then later he reveals that he finally figured out the offside rule
I think Beard's ending makes sense after what we've learned in episode 11. I don't really like their relationship with Jane either, but we now know that he was once an addict, probably dependent on Ted for a very long time, and felt obliged to follow him to the other end of the world. Now he finally gets to live his own life, make his own choices and mistakes again.
Your reaction to the reunion between "the pilot" and Rebecca has to be one of the most emotionally pure responses I have ever seen. I've probably watched that 5 seconds more than 20 times because it pushes ALL the feel-good emotional buttons. Great reaction!
You hit the nail on the head! The perfect ending. They closed all the important stories arc, left things open for possible spin offs and using Cat Stevens “Father and Son” that song gets me every time. Just a beautiful ending to a truly beautiful show. Richmond til’ we die!!
Some callbacks from previous episodes… The Dutchman’s daughter was the girl in Rebecca’s mirror earlier in the season. Rebecca wore the same clothes to the airport that she did in episode 1 when she met Ted. Ted asked Beard “What cha talking about, Willis? In season 2. The players kept their pieces of the sign close to what they held dear. Sam kept his behind his Nigerian national team photo. Jamie kept his in “The Beautiful and the Damned” the book Ted gave him in season 1. Rupert’s mistress is going on Love conquers all. FYI Women’s World Cup is this summer! Also, the Women’s World Cup
This is likely the most truthful statement that can be made about this episode. I've heard several interviews where she has basically said the same thing, and she probably wrote those lines. I've never heard anybody more grateful to a creator/producer for a role, she says he changed her life. And has there EVER been anybody who carries that opportunity so well. This show has made her an internation STAR, and rightfully so. Hannah is a force of nature, her care for her daughter being the only thing holding her back, and I fully agree with her decision. One hell of a woman, one hell of a mother ... and a role model for everybody. It's incredible how much love exists between Hannah and Juno ... holy crap, they might be the closest friends I've ever seen, and it came through in every scene the two of them shared. Harrah is simply one of the loveliest people on the planet ... quite possibily at the top of the list, and she deserves every single success. Nice to see a good person excel.
Wait.. that makes their goodbye so much more beautiful. In the context of the show, Ted is thanking Rebecca for giving him this opportunity and changing his life. Rebecca is thanking Ted for doing such an amazing and inspiring job that helped not only her, but the whole team. In the context of real life, Hannah is thanking Jason for giving her this opportunity and changing her life. Jason is thanking Hannah for doing such an amazing and inspiring job that helped not only him, but the show.❤
A fantastic reaction to a truly amazing series! Loved taking this journey with all of you. Be kind, stay strong,….and thank you for everything YOU do, EVERY day!
I think you added another dimension to the show, through your laughter, tears & words. It made it that much more tender, funny and moving. And you're kinda awesome for that.
"All people are different people." -Beard (-Ted) One of my favorite quotes from the show which came immediately to mind listening to your outro. Thanks very much for sharing in it with us gawkers; in your laughs, tears, and thoughts. It's really a delight to get to see someone experience something you love for the first time (thus why this whole reaction genre has been so successful!), and Ted Lasso will go down as one of the best shows ever in my book, which I'll never not enjoy re-experiencing! If they get some kind of spin-off off the ground that'd be great, but I agree that they wrapped up this story with Ted and Richmond really nicely and would be just fine if it remained the end. Aside: You did such a good job picking up on so many little details, jokes, etc throughout the entire series, to then miss the Freddie Mercury joke was absolutely hilarious. XD Thank you again!
feel like I've grown to know you as a friend watching this whole series alongside yourself. the mutual laughs, tears and concerns throughout the episodes just hit different. Thank You. needed this feeling and some what of a "connection"
really enjoyed going on this ride with you, great reaction series. Have you seen The Marvellous Mrs Maisel? To me it was my other feel good series besides Ted Lasso for the last few years, unfortunately they are both over now. But I think you would love it as much as Ted Lasso too. Great story, writing, characters, the acting is fantastic, it´s funny and heartwarming, the 50's setting is great... If you haven´t see it, it could be a good follow-up to this.
I like to think Coach Beard got his gloriously red "Banana Hammock" from The Todd and his collection. Wonderful reaction, so glad I found your channel and joined you on this wonderful journey.
I honestly don't know how we're supposed to not have Ted Lasso in ourselves anymore, easily one of the most wonderful shows I've ever watched. Thank you for being great at what you do and allowing us to re-live this thing from its quirky beginning to its sublime end.
A spin-off about the Richmond Womens' Team would be interesting. I'm fine with this being the last Ted Lasso ever - nothing lasts forever and that's okay. Which also resonates a lot with the messaging in this episode: find peace and move on.
A spin-off could work, but tbh it would be the best to leave this universe alone and keep the ending as THE ending. A spin-off would probably be done by someone else, who eventually caves to studio pressure to insert stuff from the original show and make it a "remember what you liked about this universe?" show.
@@HDreamer That's a fair statement. Ideally I'd want a women's team spin-off to be able to stand on it's own merits - but as you point out, not so straightforward to achieve in practice.
I think Ted Lasso can be one of those shows that changes lives. It's brilliant, funny, and has a great message to always choose kindness and always forgive. I think people will still be watching this show decades from now, and it will continue to change lives. I hope we get more television like this. Thank you for your outstanding reactions! Your emotional and honest reactions are much appreciated!
Just wanted to say thanks for reacting to this show its been a genuine pleasure to see just how much joy it and many tears its given you and the rest of us.
During my watching of this series, you earned my subscription and a hearty thumbs up for each episode. Your heart is apparent, your eyes express your every emotion, and you made me feel like a friend, with whom I'd love to talk about film and story. Decades ago, I had an absolutely brilliant friend, who was a film student, and I had taken a couple of film classes, and we would go to movies together. After the show, we'd go to a nearby restaurant, ordered pie and coffee and discuss the film for about an hour, breaking down the story and film storytelling choices. Both of us were writers, so it was quite a creative time. You have become one of two reviewers with whom I've felt that same spirit. You express your opinions very well, and I agree a very high percentage of the time. Your passion is amazing and I feel it through the screen. Thank you for sharing with us, with me, and I truly appreciate you. If you'd like to do one that I haven't seen anybody else do ... a highly underrated comedy with a lot of heart and laughs, try "She's Out Of My League." I promise you will not regret it. Lighthearted comedy with strong comedy chops.
I think Ted's confrontation with his mother in the previous episode touched on the issue of toxic positivity, which is what his mother was guilty of and what she pushed onto Ted by making him feel he had to pretend to be okay. So I think toxic positivity, which really can be a big problem, definitely was one of the themes of the show. But more importantly, I think it focused on *healthy* positivity in beautiful ways.
"The Richmond Way by Trent Grimm with A very brief Foreword written by Roy Kent" My guess as to what the Foreword was: "Ted Lasso is a great coach. Enjoy the f**king book."
The best part of this series has been that all our favorite characters have finally transformed into the best versions of themselves thanks in large part to Ted's compassion and forgiveness based style of coaching. Therefore Ted's journey with AFC Richmond is complete. He needs to return home to really repair the relationships that led him to move away in the first place as they've been plaguing him throughout.
Man, I was emotional when I watched this episode when it came out but I felt more emotional watching your reaction. What a show. It's weird knowing this masterpiece of a show is over. One of the greatest shows to have ever been televised and I can only hope it ages better with time. Will definitely watch it all over again quite a few more times, watching this show just once is definitely not enough. Angela, it was an absolute pleasure enjoying this incredible show with you and I hope to watch many more alongside! I really hope you some check some other shows in the future like Mr Robot, ATLA if you haven't seen it, Succession, Warrior. And the list goes on! haha Can't wait to see what's next in store for us!
0:33 Love a misdirect right out of the gate. And Beard in a banana-hammock is not an image soon forgotten. 😮🤣 3:37 They had to do it, and they bloody well nailed it. 🎶🥲 4:53 Love the use of "Waterfall" by The Stone Roses here, excellent tune. 🎵🤟 5:49 I saw where this was headed immediately, and was not disappointed. 7:51 6:45 This scene is such a great metaphor for the whole show. Even in a huge arena, it all boils down to people just talking. 🥰 9:40 A truly pivotal moment, and one that helps set up a potential spin-off (I'm thinking either "The Richmond Way", "Richmond 'Til We Die", or "Roy's Boys, Brilliant Ball-Handlers All"). ⚽ 10:59 Higgins is a Prophet. 🙏 11:29 Aside from all the other reasons I want a continuation, I need to see Sassy Smurf interact with Jade. That's a greater contrast than even Ted and Beard. 😍😍 11:51 And Babs, too. 13:14 Love Riverdance, especially with Flatley and Jean Butler. 14:17 When Keeley got that statement to post from Jack, I said "Bye, Jack". Now I say "Bye, Jake". 🖕 15:44 B E L I E V E 😭 Perfect. 19:04 Once again, love Barbara. 😂😻 19:56 The uppence, it comes. 🤨 20:28 This show is a King of Call-Backs. Yet more proof that the writers deserve more money than studio executives. 21:31 This moment, as well. #WGAStrong 24:58 Perfection. 🤣 And almost immediately 25:04 😭(Though this is likely partially still G.O.T.G.P.T.S.D.) 🎇✨🎊🎉💖🎆 100% Stuck The Landing. ❤❤❤
Thank you (and just thank you) for this. This was an absolute joy of a journey to get to relive with you. Your genuine reactions have had me laughing and crying with you, and this is the gold standard of what reaction channels should strive for. I love the fact that you took the time to actually discuss what you've watched. I feel cheated out of the debrief portion of most reaction channels. Talking about it after is the BEST part of watching shows with friends. Your authenticity puts you a cut above the rest in this genre. I loved every bit of this, and as I post this I'm about to rewatch the finale with you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I may be wrong but when they were putting all the pieces of the "Believe" poster back on the table, Jamie was using his piece as a bookmark in the book that Ted first bought him. The same book that Jamie threw in the bin in the first episode!
This has quickly become one of my favorite shows. I'd be interested in a spin off, especially if they keep most of the writing staff. But I'd also be okay if the franchise was done. It was a great story with a great ending. I also loved that Keeley's firm was rebranded to "KBPR", implying that Barbara is a main player there too.
Even Isaac's free kick going through the net is sort of foreshadowed back in episode 7. If you remember when everyone was trading positions, Isaac took a corner kick, and launched the ball so hard it sailed across the field and broke the owner's window a few stories up. He's got an insanely powerful kick.
I've watched all 3 seasons 3 times on my own as well as a few more times with YT reactors and just finished my 2nd time with you... and I still laugh and cry at least as much every single time. 😊
What a wonderful journey going through this series all over again. Wonderfully entertaining, well produced, informative, thought provoking, and humorous. Oh, and Ted Lasso was good, too.
Just finished watching your reaction to this whole show and I have to say I love how emotional you get during the show you are a very kind sensitive person and it was a joy for me to re watch this with you . Thank you for your reactions
"...till I made eye contact..." That really felt like your Colonel Kurtz moment. To answer your final question regarding a favourite character: I haven't, because, to my mind, each of them relies on the others to work. I think that is the sign of a well-crafted ensemble piece. I had one favourite moment, though (apart from all the other favourite moments), and it's, oddly enough, Beard's press conference in episode 9. That came so out of left field, I cannot watch it enough.
Thank you FLG! I knew TL was good but dont have apple tv. I recently flew back to the left coast from East Lansing and got to watch half of season 2. You were my outlet for the rest of the series. I found you originally just to watch the show but very quickly I enjoyed watching it with you. Thanks for posting, thanks for hosting, and thanks for being you.
That bait at the beginning got me so hard too. My poor TedBecca heart 😂 I'm so glad to have been there for your Ted Lasso journey. This show is unlike any other, and will live rent-free in my head and my heart for years to come. I had so much fun laughing and crying along with you, even though I've already seen the show more times than I can count. I don't have a favorite character. It's that good. Ted, Rebecca, Roy, Jamie, Sam, Higgins, Trent, Dani, Colin, Isaac, Keeley, Nate, etc... they all have their part to play. A big shoutout to Rupert for being such a great villain. Seriously, when Rebecca hugs Ted at the end and gets teary-eyed... I feel like that's Hannah crying, and Hannah thanking Jason. And you know what? I'm right there with you, Hannah ❤
I was late to the game with this show, but binged all 3 seasons in a week. I just finished the show last night with that brilliant ep 11, and the amazingly well-written finale. Prob up there as one of the best finales, alone with Six Feet Under. It's funny how tv shows have conditioned me to expect some drama with some character dying, or put in a dangerous situation. Case in point, the finale where Beard decides to walk back to the hotel surrounded by fans not supporting his team. I thought "yep, here we go"... and this show gave me the unexpected. No dangerous drama, no deaths, just a good old fashioned, feel good show with many redemption arcs. Watching you tear up during this, reminds me how I was last night almost exactly. I was a mess at the end. And I cried along with you during this. Great video!
I’ve seen and heard about the finales of so many shows that meant so much to people: M.A.S.H., Cheers, Seinfeld, Friends, etc., etc. I never experienced one of those shows that actually moved me the way the others did to people before me until this one. This show has helped me realize my own pain and trauma to the point that I’ve started looking into therapists to see. It makes me want to be a better teacher and mentor to my students; to react with forgiveness rather than anger over the mistakes young people make as they are growing and learning how to be adults. The last nearly four years of teaching have been the most trying, rewarding times that felt like exercises in futility as the system should have and should have changed, but the powers that be didn’t want to allow it. I wish I had found this show earlier than just before this final season aired. This is a damn near perfect show. The women rooting for each other instead of being catty, the men growing mentally and emotionally while dealing with the societal issues of toxic masculinity, being so open and forthright about the need for mental health services for all. So much of this show made it such a breathe of fresh air, even with some similar tropes like the ex-wife wanting to ruin a professional team (see the movie Major League) or the fish out of water story. The show really transcended all of it and proved that it wasn’t about Ted ever, that it was about the team coming together to be the best version of itself. Damn, I’m going to miss this show!
I was waiting for this for weeks, a wonderful reaction to a wonderful show, Ted Lasso is now on my top 5 shows of all time, I had never watched a series like this, it’s so wholesome and beautiful and it makes you feel like wanting to become a better version of yourself, every single person Ted influenced ended up growing and improving on their own terms and that’s just inspiring
RU-vid served up your Serenity video in my feed. I haven't actually seen that one, so I didn't watch it, BUT I love reaction videos and so I clicked into your channel. This is my first viewing and I knew I landed in the absolute right place right at 04:23. How do the kids these day say it? I smashed that like button and hit subscribe.
It's funny. I don't think I cried during the first watching of these episodes. But I have cried watching your reactions many, many times. You are so adorable!!!
Lol, I've seen the episode a few times along with other peoples' reactions, and i JUST noticed Beard's shirt at Rebecca's house, lol! I guess I was as distracted as you were, lol! Amazing band, though! One of my all time favorites!
This show goes with Shawshank and that thing Higgins said, “The best we can do is to keep asking for help and accepting it when you can.” on the list of "perfect things".
Watching along with you was my first rewatch. Thanks for making it super fun! And as for Beard's marriage. We are all crazy. The key to relationship happiness is finding someone whose crazy fits ours.
I've been waiting for you to get here for what feels like an eternity now... but here we finally are! Thank you for making me cry through this all over again. All the love for these reactions.
I love your reactions, especially to this! I have never cried and laughed so much. Btw... Your hair looks amazing in this video! It seems you were a little self conscious about the crying and how you looked, but WOW!I Wsh my hair would do that.
Thanks FLG, Having heard great things about the show I finally solo binge-watched Ted Lasso twice in a month loving the show so much. I was desperate to share the experience except my family were either too young (My Son) or not interested (My Wife). Watching your reaction videos has been a great way to share the experience for a 3rd time. To quote the great Roy Kent "Thank you" ;-)
thank you for all of these reactions. i truly enjoyed the ride along with ya. it was just fantastic. i loved the emotion with the show, and also your emotions while watching it.
“You are hanging on by a very thin thread…and I dig that about you!” (Jerry McGuire). I love your raw, emotional reactions (and insights). Keep ‘em coming!
Always leave the audience wanting more!! Of course we all would like another season of Ted Lasso or more realistically a spin-off but with which characters. Richmond didn't win the Premiership but that will happen in the near future. Just leave it to the audience's imagination when and how Richmond win the Premiership or do the double and win the UEFA Champions League and the Premiership. Fantastic Series Finale.
It came clear to me that a LOT of stuff with Roy's story was pre-planned, even if less obviously than lets say... Nate's storyarc. I think from the moment they planned Dr. Sharon's character, they knew Roy would end the series going to her. I think his breakup with Keeley was specifically written to create this story opportunity for Roy--to show he needed that final character growth. In a way, he was the character who grew least in the show, until the end, because they went out of their way early on to show what an unpolished gem he already was. He was a good man as long as we knew him, just with quirks he had to work out. It now seems very deliberate that he was the one person we never saw interact with Sharon in Season 2. The relationship drama near the end with Keeley rejecting the love triangle was just as much about her, but also served to set up Roy's final trajectory towards therapy, because he realized he needed to improve even more.
The reassembling of the sign fkn wrecked me, even more so than Ted's speech to the team, which also felt like a goodbye speech to the cast in the room.
I tell everyone I know, the most special thing about this show is that it always puts a smile on your face. It is truly a masterpiece for covering every human emotion we can imagine, but always leaves us with a happy ending. Great job covering it!
I slapped my own forehead when I noticed he was wearing red shoes at the last match. No place like home. (But the halftime sign and Father & Son playing just wrecked me.)
I didn’t see anyone mention this, but as most know, this episode was full of callbacks, but one of my favorites was Jamie and his piece of believe. He got it from the book Ted got for him that he threw away, I love that, and it looked worn like he read it, loved it. The ending was perfect, but there are so many ideas to explore, so fingers crossed that they have a spin-off or sequel, we need this in our lives. Last thing, loved your reactions to the whole series, mirrored my own, you have the cutest laugh, loved it.
“Wanker!!” A call to arms. Yeah I’m back- wanted to binge watch this then watch everyone’s reactions. And Roy Kent is my spirit animal. I’ll watch this. And I’ll angry cry again. Thanks Ange x ( 15:47 watching this alone and I uttered “don’t do it” to try and stop the man tears)
Loved re-living these episodes through your eyes. Thank you for the thoughtful and heartfelt reactions. Regarding Keeley and her company: It was originally KJPR...but upon the relaunch also came a new name - KBPR. Apparently, Barbara is now playing a big role in the new company. Finally, I generally would agree with the sentiment that once there is a breakup in a relationship, then that should be it. Yet, I'm a hopeless romantic. Everyone once in a blue moon, a second chance can be earned. Once Keeley has had time to process and heal herself, if she decides to go back to either Roy or Jamie, then great. Otherwise, I'm also good if it turns out that they somehow are lucky enough to have found and kept friendships between each other, since those are more often than not lost when a relationship runs its course. Barbeque Sauce!!!
You know how people who watch The Lord of the Rings for the first time often are almost shocked to find that it's already the end? That's how I feel after binging through this entire playlist of your Ted Lasso reactions. I've enjoyed it so much, shed a lot of tears, and reflected hard on myself. Seeing bits of Nate in me, bits of Roy, bits of Trent... and dare I say it?... bits of Ted too. I loved that you loved this. It's been a real pleasure. (yes, I know... where have I been for the last 9 months that had me not seeing this earlier? Blame the algorithm)
There's a ton of comments so somebody might have already pointed this out but there's an interesting story behind a couple of the songs used in this episode. First, they played Father and Son by Cat Stevens. The episode ends with Fight Test by The Flaming Lips. That song was similar enough to Father and Son that The Flaming Lips settled out of court after being sued over it. Very interesting to have those songs play back to back.
