Ted was in Louisville Kentucky, opening for KISS and him and his band, with Derick, came to a club where I was "teching" for 1 of the guitar players that was playing. The band asked me to ask Ted if he'd like to come up and play a song. Ted told me he'd come back to the dressing room. He came back and for 20 minutes, he talked and joked and was the nicest, funniest people you'd ever want to meet. He and his entire band got up and played for almost an hour !! Way cool !
I’m from Louisville and I remember many years ago, probably around 1973 that Ted and the Amboy Dukes.played at a club downtown possibly called the Troubadour. I was too young to get in but my friends that did said it was great…
The first time i saw him was in the early 80's at a small club and he jumped off a 15 foot stack of Marshall's , he was a maniac. Killer show with the metal band Savatage opened for him...
@@jonborrmann3124 Yeah i think he just wanted to play a small intimate place on the down low , but it definitely was badass to see him go nuts on stage that close. The next time i saw him was with Aerosmith at an arena , i remember him shooting his bow at something during the show. He blew Aerosmith out of the water , as far as intensity and energy....
@@joen.8364 They did more for literally millions of people in the role they played than they ever could have as a single soldier being forced into war they didnt believe in and we shouldnt have been involved with anyway. Most of the world knows their names and can recite their words, i have never heard of you. Not downgrading what you did, but you can stop with that nonsense.
I first started to listen to Nugent in 1976, the year I started to work for UPS. We would all, semi- truck unloaders and sorters sing his songs throughout the night, to get through the night. It was crazy!! Forty teenage boys screaming out the lyrics to his songs! The interview by Sammy with Ted was one of the best I’ve watched, I loved it. Two guys with a lot of energy! AWESOME❗️
Grew up listening to uncle Ted because he was my dad's favorite artist. When mg dad passed, we played Fred bear at his funeral. It's started driving semi about a year ago and when I leave the yard everyday I put stranglehold on. Great music to listen to throughout the day
So is his music, hasn't charted since the '70s. He's clinging to what little fame he has by bring loud and controversial. If he had any music left in him we wouldn't have to listen to all his bullshit.
Woke up at 3am. Watched this Poetry of the Rock Gods at 3:30. Set the tone for the rest of the day. Who needs caffeine when you channel these 2 legends. Love you guys 🎸 ❤️
Out f%&#*#%$ing standing interview Sammy ... The end jam brought chills !!! No lie !!! Two of my favorite musicians in one room , survivors of a lifetime of rock . Thank you both for providing the soundtrack for so many of your fans lives . Seriously . Ted's outlook , his oneness within himself , and his surroundings , his spiritual essence , and his genuine appreciation for all he has (and worked hard for , btw) ,,, I don't think I'm the only one who would like to sit in a room and share a beer and talk life , hunting , etc , with him ...... Great job . Thanks again .....
Ted Nugent was my first rock concert back in 1979 and just saw Sammy with his band the circle for the first time 3 weeks ago .. Pure no B.S Rock and Roll to the extreme . God bless them both! 🙏
You are 100%-on the money.. One big difference is Sammy Hagar, sure has made a bundle on his tequila company. It is expensive, and from what I hear, it is quality stuff. I think it is referred to as (Agave) tequila. It is not the only brand that makes it. I saw him live, he was passing the stuff out left & right.. I saw it in a liquor store. Caba-Waba"?? I think it was 40.00 a bottle.
Wrong. I find it REALLY easy to be a rock musician and fan without having anything but disdain for a sociopath that wrote a song glorifying child rape.
That jam was just so perfect. Ted is really a soul, motown, based madman. No wonder he loves James Brown so much. I can hear a lot of James Brown intensity and soul in Ted.
Thank you Ted and Sammy !!!!!! I really appreciate this clip !!!!!!! You both are an influence to our lives !!!-- Love you both !!!!!! Just love that era ! Grad of 1977. Grew up listening to you. !!!!! Long live rock n roll !!!!!!!
They are going back around the wheel.. hanging out like teenagers. If we all get to live long enough we’d get to compete our own hero’s journey. Congrats to Sammy and Ted. Great show!
Thanks to Ted, I took my kids to see their first rock concert in Houston in 2005. Tickets were a steal at only 10 bucks per. There is no way Ted was playing for the money. He was obviously playing for the love of music!
The first time I saw Ted was in 76 at a concert in Kalamazoo Michigan, the stadium went dark and all of a sudden a spotlight comes on Ted jumping off the top of huge speakers doing a flip in mid air jamming on his guitar, landing in the middle of the stage not missing a stroke. Good times.
Ted's facial expressions are "PRICELESS" when he puts those fingers to any string... Love you rockers forever on my radio. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶 Decades. 9/04/2022
I was working as an assistant engineer in 1975 at the Sound Pit where Nugent made his first solo album "Ted Nugent" . I worked during the day and they came in at night to work. Nugent had a wall of Marshalls set up in the large studio. No other guitar player who came through there had more than one or two amps.
Brother man Mr. Ted Nugent lead me to the path of Rock and Roll back in 1978 when he played a show in St. Louis. Impressed me so much I had to feel that feeling everyday. 58 yrs old and Im still feeling it thanks Ted you have always been my hero. Sammy I first heard you in Montrose days loved Rocked Candy sang that song every day for years lol. Love both of your music and shall always have my cat scratch with my red!
I went to a Loudness, Krokus, and Sammy Hagar concert at wings stadium in Kzoo Michigan in 1985. Teddy came out and played with Sammy for an hour. It was fucking epic.
Ted Nugent was my first concert on 9/04/1978 at Long Beach Arena in California I saw Sammy Hagar with Van Halen in 1986 at what was then called The Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, California The fact that they can go from conversation to improvisational jam and back to conversation without missing a beat is something most 70 year olds will never experience. God bless em!
In 1985...little Miss DanGEROUS tour...Irving Texas...a friend was loaning Ted like a shop stall...pretty big...to rehearse before Texas Jam...bunch of us congregated just hoping to hear...he came out thirsty...drank his first Coors...still got the can...autograph for the "SKULLS"...sent my grandson for cups and ice water...knocked on door with 20 girls...guy says just one...my idea yall....bye...nice guy...seen him a bunch since then....never disappoints ....LOVE UMCLE TED
That story of Nuge plugging into Eddie’s rig and expecting to capture EVH’s sound still gives me a hearty chuckle. But he did give Ed his props instead of acting like a primadonna rock star. Badass!
Thank you for this, Sammy and Company. I didn't know Sammy had a podcast/show/program, whatever you want to call it. Ted and Sammy made me realize I am still young at 57.
Uncle Ted is just one of the BEST. He is an inspiration American and person who is just so knowledgeable and has the ability to debate with anyone on the planet.
Those far left fruits would never, never, NEVER have a far right nut job like Ted in their little club. They'd rather pretend that Madonna & Dolly Parton are RnR, than admit Nugent is more RnR than 99% of their inductees. Oil/Water
Saw Sammy open for Ted in Portland, Oregon in 1981. We were big Ted fanatics, but after that show, I was a Sammy fanatic. Two of my favorite all time people to see in concert.
When they start playing that songs it’s a really cool feeling watching them find each other like that and just making it sound great. Also I wish this video was longer. Ted nugent is a fucking legend. I heard stranglehold today on the way home from work on the radio and instantly it put me in a great mood. Glad they left the solo in the radio version
YOU TWO GUYS ARE TOTAL BADASS’s . This post is awesome. You two are like true brothers . We love watching every minute. . AND BY THE WAS ITS SAM FOR ME (just saying) OMG what a real treat listen to three of you jam . All of you guys Thank You for keeping it real and Keep Rocking and Rolling. 🎸🎸🌅🏆
I always love Ted Nugent's songs and his ability to rock and play the guitar like no other. Seen Ted play many times always gives his best to bring your rock and roll soul out at his concert. All time great Rocker, hunter and loved his shows. Live and Rock on Uncle Ted! Thanks Sammy
I saw these two on stage together in 1988, playing "Rock & Roll" by Zepplin, in Pontiac MI. Epic seeing Ted jumping off PA stacks while soloing on guitar, fox tail and all.
Ted Nugent live back in his prime was a visual show in itself. Where others had to invent a character may it be a space man or make up ,Ted was himself and musically he is not known for one of the greatest but from a players perspective we was innovative and melodic leads with feedback that influenced a style used still today. And Sammy thanks your the greatest guy and best male vocalist ever .
Ok I might of stretched that one a bit but Sammy was part of a to me a change with Montrose that was song for song one of the best and maybe he's no Miles Kennedy but he's stood in front of legends and that's speaks volumes .
Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands, but I HAVE A FEELING that if you asked Eddie Vedder and the boys what their favorite Ted Nugent song is, you'd get two great answers and three explanations about how problematic they find helicopter hunting and "misogynistic comments" about Hillary Clinton that preceded any answer given. Ask a clean-and-sober Ted Nugent who "musical greatness" is, and he names the biggest junkie in rock history without batting an eye or qualifying it first. Ask "Redneck Backwoods" Uncle Ted about James Brown and you get nothing but praise for the gifts bestowed upon us by Soul Brother Number One. Ask Old Man Ted about whether previous eras of rock n roll dominance were better than today's KPop, Mumble Rap, and Cookie Cutter bands? He tells you TODAY has the best music because it's an accumulation of all of it. Ted is a national treasure and is EVERYTHING the "more conscientious bands" claim to be, but never deliver on. ENTHUSIASM for music...PASSION for the people who make it....RESPECT for those who came before AND after. This comment goes out to all of that Nashville pussy. I didnt come here to be mellow.
Keith may have been the biggest junkie of all time, but what sets him apart from countless others, the riff master is still alive and selling out stadiums as I write this.
I love Dave and Sammy, I love Ted and Sammy. All of you influenced me in my youth, so many I love and appreciate. Everyone has such a disgusting sound and style, absolutely love my Hard Rock and Heavy Metal friends from my youth and still listening ( on Vinyl ) after all these years with both my children and grandchildren. Thank you both and blessings to you all and your beautiful families.
Uncle Ted is rock n roll. I'm so thankful for the first time i heard Ted play guitar. He's one of the top reasons i picked one up. Thank you Uncle Ted.
2 Legends that lived 2 different paths that are both in their mid 70's and look absolutely Great! One clean living and one that Partied a Lot yet they have so much mutual respect for one another. Humans could learn from Both of these Legends!
Thanks Sammy for sharing Uncle Ted with us. You guys are the epitome of rock and roll and I can proudly say that I've been blessed by seeing you both early on. Sammy was great with Montrose, solo and with Van Halen. Ted with Amboy Dukes and on his own for sure. You guys really keep us young with your energy. Thanks guys!
hell yeah!! if I was sitting in Sammy's chair, I would have thanked Ted for all the times his music just blew me away. I first came across Ted after my parents divorced, and it was stranglehold that first got my attention. the best divorce song ever written and one of the best solos on record. the answer to Sam or Dave is always SAMMY! Van Halen was damn lucky to get him. I saw Sammy the tour before he joined VH, and out of the 1000+ shows I've seen, it is still one of the best. his solo while hanging off the lighting rig over the stage will never be forgotten. not to mention having one of the best voices in R&R. thanks guys!
O lord above the two biggest personalities in rock and roll and the most real and ridiculously awesome bad asses in ROCK & ROLL ever. Together in one place. I knew I felt a disturbance in the force. O LORD HELP US ALL.
Holy smokes...saw both of these guys way back in the 70's. Ted already had a long career by the time I saw him in the 70's some time, & saw Sammy when he was with Montrose! First concert ever... Montrose warmed up for Humble Pie. I am so damn glad to have grown up in the era I did!
Hats off to each and every one of you Ted Nugent Sammy Hagar God bless you. I followed you guys since the '70s day on the green Northern California Oakland Coliseum great memories growing up. Now I'm knocking on your back door I'm 60. And I know you're ahead of me. But man oh man oh man what great memories. Joe Dirt Arizona
I saw that show they are talking about in 1977. first time seeing Sammy 2nd time for Ted. Just awesome hard rock. So lucky to have grown up in the 70's.
Two great rockers! Great interview especially with “Sam or Dave” I got a lot of shit over the years for liking Sam and what I try to explain is that it is two totally different things. Diamond Dave was all rock, party and energy and with Sammy there is just a spiritual element. Ted seemed to always be Ted but I feel Ted developing into a real and honest force of personality that just exudes all that he is all the time. That kind of pure honesty within oneself is (a one of a kind.)
Just amazingly great! When guitar master Ted started playing his guitar solo, I noticed the similarities to the solo from "round and round" by Ratt. He has influenced so many bands with his music!! Incredible!!👍👍👍
Thank you Sammy and thank you Ted. Christmas '76 I got the Ted Nugent album And Montrose debut. Gentlemen?...it doesn't get ANY better than that ! While Sabbath and Purple and Heep and Budgie were waving the flag in Europe.....it was you two guys who at the same time ...were USA Gold American Metal baby!!!!!
