His mother braved six miscarriages to get to Teddy, this was her only child. Now, she's over 100 and is still with us, bless her. Edit & update: His mother Ida Pendergrass died at the age of 104 on Wednesday, July 20, 2022
This is a song I play from time to time. I think of all the things I fell in love with my wife and now she struggling with dementia. I’m riding with you till the end baby. This song reminds me of my love for my wife.
All goodness to you and yours. Might I offer this, it said to be cure/ that helped a loved one of mine. ● eGGS... lots and lots of Eggs, like a dozen a day (they say, that the brain is very much made of cholesterol) and, eggs cure dementia. On the flip side of perfect cures, there is this philosophy... something tender, and inexplicably innocent, that a amnesiac shared with me... about being 'a creature' given over to The Present. It is Transcend. ●●●●● Regardless, life is rich to have had a treasure of such companionship. IT is Rare. Take Care.
One of the best. I might put Marvin Gaye's Distant Lover slightly above if not even. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XSEmL3is76g.html Then again Teddy was killing it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3HklcUvW-5U.html
I know Lionel Ritchie wrote this song for Kenny Rogers, but nobody sings this song like Teddy. My boyfriend introduced me to this song and I cried the first time I heard it. What a BEAUTIFUL expression of love. We miss you Teddy❤.
This is a perfect example of mature love. No games, ego trips, or mistreatment of his woman. He's not afraid to show his true feelings because he knows that the love that he has for his woman is reciprocated. Because when you treat someone well. That's what you get in return ❣️❣️
I feel the same way about this song as 3 weeks ago. I just want to add this: if a man dedicated this song to me, I'd never leave. Because a man who expresses his feelings this boldly is a keeper. No matter his problems, I know him having this type of love for me, he'd never be cruel to me.
I grew up listening to Teddy as a kid. My mother stayed playing Teddy. I use to ask my mother.. Ma, why you always put your hand in the air with your eyes close and moving your head.. she said, when you get older you'll understand. ( I do now) lol
@IRON MAN Ha! Famous words from my momma also. The world was so open back then. I mean I asked my mother about Teddy ha I was 8. I could see and feel his soul then and deeper now as a momma.
When you're truly talented you don't need all the tricks, dancers, and the lights on the stage to accompany you. His voice, his presence and his, lyrics are entertainment enough. He's truly One in a Million!
And let me tell this, the most fucked thing is the fact the because of completion in between talented people like Michael jackson and prince is the cause that artist felt the need to outshine each other...
Why do people make dumb ass comments like this? Duh! It’s 1982. What the hell do you expect? And what’s wrong with pyro and half naked men and women. That’s part of entertainment. So I fail to see your point. There’s nothing wrong with Teddy’s presentation or any other artist that chooses to do it their way. It’s like people don’t realize that times change.
Wow! This concert was 40 years ago! 40 years later, and this song is still timeless! Teddy nailed this song especially at the end along with the musicians playing with him!
Have you heard of Luther Vandross? This is stellar of course by the late great legend. Luther blew the stage up as well. Superstar is the song check it out. For the remake of songs by great male performers 🤙🏽💪🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💙🌈🙏🏽
He would have “crossed over” with this song and ge knew it. That’s why he was planning to record it but never got the chance - his accident happened right after this concert.
Songs like this cause an agonizing ache in my heart for my mama bc she lost my daddy 1/28/22. He was the love of her life, and she was his. A blessing to their entire legacy.
Not sure if anyone has noticed that the days of real love songs when music about love is sincere and genuine. When men took pride in making efforts to land a woman they really love. Days of Teddy, Barry, Jacksons, Bee Gees Al Green ... Those days Are Gone!! Today, we sing about murder, rape and beating etc. More worryingly, women are increasingly behaving like men and may well be spending time and resources to get a man of their dream... What a generational change
I remember an still live those days. It inside of everyone! just let it out. Love, Respect,Self love,Happiness.Honesty,If we have all that an then some,We can bring those old days back.
nelson cooper. Nah not one of the best , the best. Teddy Pendergrass aka Teddy P and Marvin Gaye are the best male singers ive heard in my 36 year of existence
Watched the documentary today & was blown away. I search for the song as soon as the documentary was finished. Simply amazing. Saving this for my wedding!
I lived through his story growing up in Philadelphia..happy to see the showtime special but its bone chilling to relive the events of what happened to this amazing entertainer. Was at that Sixers game the night it happened
Listen to Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie, sing "Lady" two beautiful voices. Tip my hat to Lionel Richie, for writing such a beautiful song. But Teddy Pendergrass took "Lady" to another level. That beautiful baritone voice took it to another Epic level.
I love the lyrics. This is how a man should feel and think about his lady. That's a lot of real love. Once you experience it you will never settle for less! The voice is awesome but the love is the greatest.
You do... Jesus loves you so much more... He gave his life for you! As far as a human man just wait... When you're ready God will bring him to you, don't rush looking for him, when God's thru with him and he's worthy of your heart, and your heart is ready to receive him You will meet each other and know.. Don't go looking, do you, Your children if any, stay busy... Sending you Nothing but Blessings!! Just Wait💕
Everytime I hear this song sung by him it brings tears to my eyes. No one sings this song the way he did. The emotion that he put into it makes you feel every word.
80 yrs ago I had a dear black friend she introduced me to all of this sole music.I have never forgot her or this beautiful heart renching sound.I wish I could know if she is still alive.
I was lucky enough to be at this concert in London in 1982, and all these years later this song still gives me chills.. Teddy was completely unique. Missed but never forgotten.
T Treasured,Teddy was a great entertainer. yes he was a very unique, kind hearted, loving ,funny, great sense of humor, talented man. I pray God will bless more men to have his fabulous personality.TeddyBear was super role model. The world needs more of his kind.Love You Teddy.RIP
Yes, that’s why I have watched this video, over and over. And it so sad, cause, after this he was never again the same. It’s like u can feel the accident coming . And he was just getting started. His documentary and so good. I have watched it, so many times. It’s just so good. They did a great job on Teddy’s. I have never watched a documentary that was so well put together. It touches you on every level.
Teddy changed the whole dynamics of this song. He sung it with great power. I’ve listened to this song over and over a million times and it takes my breath away every time.
@@marthaespinosa6264 NO, Lionel Ritchie WROTE, this song specifically for Kenny Rodgers. I like both versions, Teddy's just have more power & soul to it.
Oh Teddy❤ I’m walking down the aisle to his live version! I’m so anxious and excited to take that first step to his voice and to genuinely feel that same emotion in the same breath as he did. Definitely an one in a lifetime opportunity to have his greatness shared with us.
I had never heard this song, by Teddy Pendergrass, until Now. I had no warning; so, I didn't have time to put on my life jacket to protect me from the lyrics of 💓 felt 💔 passion and desire. Now, I'm drowning in your love. Save me.......
Everything you will ever need to know about singing, performing and stage presence is in this performance. At a minimum he is certainly the greatest baritone vocalist of all time just because he had the mid range vocal power as well. This is his best live performance and though soulful, it is incredibly nuanced and rehearsed. The arrangement, his phrasing etc. Nobody could just be this naturally gifted. Wow
I’m a young Guy and his energy and voice shows he put his Heart and Soul into what he sang. This fella was too smooth;would take yo woman in a heartbeat. 😁Rip TEDDY ONE OF GREATEST!!!
Absolutely! That's why I think his car was sabotaged to cause that accident! I'm here in 2022, watching the documentary, with tears streaming down my eyes in sadness. RIP Teddy, we still love you, even in death!🙏🏽♥️
@@michaeloverton2437 1:44am. Can't sleep. November 14th 2020. Looking at RU-vid. Listening to "Teddy" singing "Lady" and "Somebody told me to deliver this message." I love listening to his music because it takes your mind off a lot of the chaos that's going on in the world today. Love & Blessings to us all.
My God! TEDDY! 😂 He SMASHED this rendition of Lady! HE MADE IT HIS OWN...Thanks, Lionel for writing such a Beautiful song. Reign In Power, KING Teddy! 👑 May God Bless your SOUL! One! ☝🏿🖤🙏🏿
He didn't just sing as one would say he sang the words didn't just come out his mouth but his heart his soul and he enjoyed performing as much as we loved him to such a beautiful soul this song "Lady" touches you like no other I want to be loved from a heart like that!
I would’ve passed out had I been at this concert! I loved me some Teddy P., and I’m a young woman and I was really young at the time this song was made!
Anyone still listening to this 2020..Well..It's A Masterpiece!! Timeless! I thought Kenny Rogers song this so beautifully, which he did. (RIP Mr. Kenny Rogers!) So after hearing Teddy Pendergrass sang this! I'm a big fan of Teddy..never heard of this one..Wow.. OMG! Mind blowing, years ago I believe it was Eddie Murphy said that the power of Teddy Pendergrass voice makes women throw their underwear on stage..Lol..I understand. some woman might have had all clothes on stage after this concert was over!.. My favorite verse..Lady.. LADY! (screaming). Wow!! I heard that! made my ears ring..within. Wow..Amazing man, voice. Understand why they call him The Teddy Bear!.. Just Beautiful..no words. SMH.
Teddy took an ordinary song and personalized it for us to think of that special person in your life. Teddy sang this song with the emotion that you can feel it's meaning so well.
when I hear this song I actually sing it inside my chest as I hear it in my ears.I was about 5 years old when i first heard this and just like my everlasting smile it sounds the same yet better and better every time and im almost 48yrs in body
