Stories like this really makes me wish someone would make a 4-5 part series of 'Meeting Michael Jackson' from family, industry people, ladies, to families and hospitals. I just want to hear everyone's memories about him. Stuff like this has to be a book 😂
Underrated?! You must be a millennial...that album was a BOMB back in the day...and it could've been better had they changed some singles choices..."She Drives Me Wild" for instance should've been released as a single with video and heavily promoted at least in the US...
imrko never. I miss Mike so much. I remember him speaking at James Browns funeral. N they he spoke him, I was like “Wow! That’s how my generation thinks about Michael. The Greatest. The King. Three years later, we said goodbye to our hero.” For me, I was born in 83. My first musical memory is Michael. And being in front of the tv, trying to dance like him. Sing like him. He was my super hero... Superman. And then little did I know that I really wanted to be Janet! Lol!!! Michael and Janet, my Superman and Wonder Woman. He-man and SheRa. Michael was just that to me. I miss him so much. I’m so glad Janet has taken his torch and has chosen to carry his, and carry hers as well. She is the proud little sister, keeping her big brothers legacy alive by doing what she does best. I love Janet, the living Icon.
I suffer from crippling anxiety and split personality disorder. Ever since I was 3 years old I was obsessed with MJ. His music for me is now a tool to deal with my mental health. He's helped me beyond the grave. Keep lighting up the stars MJ ❤️
i knew MJ was a REAL dude when i heard the track THEY DONT REALLY CARE ABOUT US THAT song made me realize he was at heart a socially concious dude a child of the sixties and seventies who did not forget about his people also when he bought those Beatles tracts right from under a LIVING Beatle PAUL M cCARTNEY i said to myself that it was such a cold blooded GANGSTER move one id never expected he would do but it was business!! it was then i said this guy aint the fool the press tries to convince us he is
Elgin Subwaysurfer Bolling not only did he buy the beatles catalogue but he bought the catalogues of many black artists so that he could give them BACK those black artists so that they had the rights to their OWN SONGS! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
And what was Micheal's line in the intro to I just Can't Stop Loving You...it was A lot of people don't know me..A lot of people don't know me at ....And He Was Absolutely Right!....
You better believe. I think he had major issues with Tommy Motolla. Although, I think he was a fair music executive; yet, I believe Michael had issues with him exploiting black artists. I think Michael saw him as being apart of the problem, systematically. I could only imagine what Michael were to think now of the music industry.
I've seen many interviews about Michael, of his co-workers, friends, of people admiring him, remembering him, speaking well, but this is probably THE warmest and nicest one I've ever seen! There is so much genuine emotion, respect and friendship here from Teddy, just warmed my heart. When he said he didn't take pictures because he didn't want to make Michael feel uncomfortable just proved his genuine friendship and respect.
"He would always call me in his hot ass room..." Lmao! It's amazing how people who knew him on a personal level all have wonderful things to say about him. It's so sad how the so much of the world chooses to believe the slanderous things that people said in an attempt to profit off of him. I wish I could've known Michael. He seemed like such an amazing person.
+Milessa Grisset I totally agree with you here with everything you said. People seem to always have contempt for something prior to actually investigating it. People are usually dumb and very closed minded and will believe something at face value without actually doing some critical thinking. That's why so many dumb people blindly followed evil men in the Catholic church for so many centuries, they just did what they were told. That maybe was a bad example I used but I feel you what you are saying.
Omg I didn't want Teddy's story to end I wish it was more I wish could set down wit him and talk always respected his work and him love this story he told about MJ. wow captivating. Wish it was apart two.
Much respect to Teddy Riley 4 how he was talking about Micheal that everyone speculated him as something of a freak which hurt his feelings. He was a real person outside of the limelight with real feelings as anyone else.
Aww Teddy Riley seem like a real sweetheart a real open minded person, respectful & intelligent gentlemen. I love his memory of Michael Jackson listening to his story bout MJ had me smiling laughing out loud & crying. I enjoyed video!!!!:)
I want to read a Bible size kinda book written about Michael Jackson. Beautiful stories like these told by his well meaning friends. Thank you Teddy Riley! U were lucky to experience MJ. #ForeverInnocent
7:56 " I think God planted seeds in some people !" To change the world into a better place. Yes Michael YOU are exactly right....YOU are One of those people who was blessed with a magical "seed". YOU changed the world thru urmusic created with LOVE ♡
Not only is Teddy Riley a genius and a god here in Afrika, but he is also very humble. "Rumpshaker" changed everything in the party scene here in Kenya, there was a time Kenyans literally worshipped Teddy Riley and his music.
Especially by people like Teddy Riley and Chris Tucker, who actually knew the true Michael. Aside from the celebrity, he seemed like a down to earth guy.
DANGEROUS was a SICK, SICK album. I would have love to see remixes for WHY YOU WANNA TRIP ON ME and especially, Especially SHE DRIVES ME WILD... That song is explosive!!!! REMEMBER THE TIME is simply exquisite. The DANGEROUS title track was originally made by Bill Botrell, but Teddy took that bottom out and replaced it with that pulsating beat. PHEW.
And this is a perfect description of a pure and innocent genius . Who never did anything but amaze us all . Thanks Teddy Riley for sharing your joy of being with him. R.I.P Michael Jackson
I'm having a marathon of people telling respectful michael stories. Everyone, especially those with the integrity to be saying nice things about him after 2019, now has a place in my heart forever.
I am not really into productions other than Phil Spector and Quincy Jones but I have to say Teddy Riley and that New jack swing was BIG at that time and noticed.
I went to Michael Jackson childhood home a few days ago in Gary Indiana I felt like a kid in the candy store I'm going to go again R.I.P To The G.O.A.T Of Pop
I always wondered why I couldn't find pictures of Teddy with Michael Jackson. Really shows an amazing depth to Teddy, to think about Michael's feelings rather than Teddy thinking about his own ego, so many would want that photo to show off to the world.
Dangerous is the greatest album MJ released …..it’s my favourite album of all time ….I miss him dearly and pray one day Jordan Chandler tells the whole world the truth !!!!!
I'd be afraid to work with someone so close to perfect, I'm afraid I might muck up - I'm Referring to Michael J Teddy wanted MJ comfy so they could swirl out the best results. This is the 1st time I've ever seen THE Teddy Riley after hearing his name every time MJ won arm full of awards at Music Awards since I was a kid
Michaels next level "fo sho", true artist, I can tell. Thank you God for Teddy Riley, Michael Jackson and Q Tip for letting us use the room to make the music that influenced us with joy, heat & memories. Who's BAD?
Michael seriously knew every vocal enhancing technique. Studio or Stage no wonder he was always in a steam pit it was how he hit those high notes, his nasal cavaties always open!
Because you have this man who is almost larger than life ! I mean the pope and Michael Jackson are two people everyone in the world know's . if he called me I wouldnt believe it would be him either lol
It just goes to show no matter how big an artist was, they never believed it was him because they never believed they were on his level. Not one artist have I heard speak about being asked to work with Michael that wasn't utterly shocked and humbled by the request.
I got a chance to meet Teddy, Harvey, in fact I took Teddy to Laraby's studio from the Hotel in Universal City because he needed a ride. In fact I met MJ on several occasion because I lived down the street from Havenhurst, in Encino Ca. Thank you God for those experiences in my life!
Never got to hear Teddy talk much --- I like how he let the music do that for him --- but he does a great impression of Mike, and the storytelling is just incredible! #BADDUDE
The MJ & TR collaboration was one of those hook ups that I prayed would happen but never thought would. I remember watching an interview back in the day where Teddy was asked SO WHAT,S NEXT FOR TEDDY RILEY, Teddy said, WELL I,M WORKING WITH MICHAEL JACKSON ON HIS NEW ALBUM, I just started to cry, my 2 Favorite musicians working together I was so happy, God did his thing, and of course they didn,t disappoint.
I would love a documentary to be done on Michaels creative process. Writing music, choreographing videos, rehearing for yours, in the studio etc with people talking who worked with him. Would be amazing to see
@Titanin1984 He's doing it with affection and it's kind of cute. With all due respect, some of you Michael fans are way over-the-top when it comes to your view of him, like he was a super-human God who must be worshipped. He was a human being like everyone else with flaws, who happened to be super talented. Get a grip.
It makes no sense but I find these stories of Teddy Riley and Michael Jackson inspirational. Despite everything they were grounded in reality and if they can do it anyone can. I love listening to this guy almost as much as MJ's music. Thanks for that...
My fav producers of all time: Teddy Riley Teddy Riley Jimmy/ Terry Jazze Pha Full Force Quincy Jones Nick Martinelli Teddy so nice I had to put him twice
hands down, one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I was photographing his show in Sydney last year. Waited around after the show to give him some prints of Roy Ayers. He was busy signing autographs. I just waited quietly on the sidelines. After he was done, his bodyguards started whisking him away. I stepped to him and tapped his arm as he was walking away. Motherfcuker stops, made his bodyguards stop and we stood and spoke for a minute. Huge smile on his face. I said "TR. I don't ask for autographs or selfies. I just wanted to give you these. I was Roy Ayers's photographer in April. I got my details on the back. Just don't forget me". Cat draws me close, shakes my hand and says, "I won't. I'm not going to forget you". He didn't need to talk to me. He didn't to say shit. To this day, the nicest guy I had the honour of photographing.
NEGRO You should be the fourth judge on THE FOUR or perhaps on the VOICE you had one of the best studios in VA. I loved loved loved the way you created that infrastructure for the sounds of MUSIC write on write on right on lyrically you are a KING
I use to idol this guy...no joke...his producing skills was like no other..he was my inspiration when it came to producing ...I wanted to meet him so bad...but some dreams don't come true....Teddy Riley...much respect ...
I believe mike is alive and well. The crazy system he was under gave him nothing but hell on earth.they robbed, disrespected, used, and abused this man merciless. They threw him in jail for shit he didn't do. Just so these fools can line their pockets.they knew mike had a good genuine heart and took advantage with no end. My opinion they would have bankrupted this man , and put him in the ground for sure.he is alive, leave him alone to finally have the life he surely deserve.
Oh how so cool is that!!!??? I always love a warm room too! I am a cold nature person, I cannot stand the cold at all, but I love warmth and a very warm room! Me and MJ have that in common then! WOW!!! Little did I know! :D
I'm a fan and I think that Thriller had his biggest and best compositions. Billie Jean, Beat it, Wanna Be Startin Something, were all amazing, especially Billie Jean.
Musically Bad,Dangerous and HIStory are his best albums however Thriller is his most revolutionary and the biggest album ever created that man released the greatest thriology of hits with Billie Jean, Beat It and Thriller then you add Human Nature, Wanna be Starting something and PYT Thriller by far is Michael's Mona Lisa
Oh my Heart...Teddy thanks so much for giving us your true reflection about Michael........Warm:-))) I enjoyed this interview!!!! I love it!!their collaboration was amazing!!!!
I wish you could tell stories about that man all night long this was incredible to listen to and I had no idea he liked everything so warm. Hilarious 😆
Can't imagine the feeling when he saw those records for sure on the album. It's like reading the winning lottery ticket. You never will ever worry about money again because of the publishing on those songs. Mike's song will play forever.
Teddy Riley is without question the best producer in the world! He made so many artists. "My Prerogative" "New Jack Swing" is a genre made by Teddy. The Music from that genre is timeless party music. "Dangerous" is my all time favorite Michael Jackson album. If you haven't heard Guy's or Blackstreet's albums you are missing out on beautiful, classic 90's R&B.
That was a great walk down memory lane with Teddy..My memory of Teddy is him and Pharrell stuck on the HRBT on I-64 in VA in Ferrari's and Acura NSX's chillin and I was in my Altima..We was side by side with our windows down just all chopping it up talking about music and all sorts of shit..Real cool down to earth peoples..VA stand up
Teddy Riley and Michael Jackson in the studio right next to Princess Anne High school on Virginia Beach Blvd in VA Beach VA was the best. 757 all the way.
