@@daysrays3987 that is true however if persons call themselves music loves then they should get to know his music his production and also writing but this generation will call it old and trash sadly
To be fair about 50% of stuff Teddy says either never happened or is a unique take on factual events. He has been doing it for years. Lots of stuff he says in this interview doesn't add up at all and it is easily provable that he is not telling the truth just by googling those events.
Indeed. Happy to see Booti Call produced by Erick Sermon get mentioned. Joy and Before I Let You Go are two of the most beautiful ballads of the '90s. I hate to be the "back in my days" old head, but none of this sh## out right now is holding a candle to either of those first two Blackstreet albums.
"Before I let you go..." how can I ever forget that song! I still remember the day I first heard it. My landlady's daughter brought it back in a song collection from uni and played it for me. I fell in Love with Blackstreet and bought the whole album. Still blasting Blackstreet to date since the 90s. And then "No diggity"! This is so emotional right now!
Man!!!!!...I love hearing Teddy talk about how the process of him calibrating with other producers and Artist's...this is Golden ...man I always wanted to work with Teddy, Baby face and Dr Dre ...my dream ....but dreams don't always come true...but I'll just enjoy listening to these interviews with him ..
Monster and Breaking News by “Michael Jackson” have been removed from Spotify. I literally tried to search it the other day and to my dismay I couldn't find them. I researched why and found out its bc Teddy Riley is a phony- he lied on Oprah knowingly so he could get profit. He co-signed the entire album KNOWING it was another man. Now I have to believe JASON MALACHI is the voice behind Monster? What a shame to have believed Michael was singing my favorite song for 10 years. Teddy Riley is a phony and he has been CAUGHT! Phony people all over Hollywood that have disrespected Michael and his fans over the years including Quincy Jones- Teddy is NO different!
Damn this an incredible interview with TEDDY RILEY!!! Recently found out he produced GRAND PUBA’s first group MASTERS OF CEREMONIES!!! Dude is a musical genius.
Vlad is so adamant on letting people know that he know things. Stop cutting him off and let him tell the story. Okay...you know things (So you think). Congratulations!!!
Thank God...I'm so glad somebody said it. You have the guest ..lead off with the question and let the guest respond. You don't have to interject commentary all the damn time about how "knowledgeable you think you are"....then damn you still get it WRONG and the guest has to clear it up
Legendary indeed. Must say following this interview had to revisit that song we grew up listening, No Diggidy, and yeah Mr Riley is the one who led it... Sold 1.6million copies in '96, won a Grammy '98🤎... Legendary🔥
LOVE that song. I'm an 'old head,' college-educated suburbanite.... great, great tune. I'm going to listen to it now... for about the millionth time. No diggity, no doubt!
@@thefamily5357 None, and I accept your point. I was merely saying that this music is so good that it reached people out of the normal demographic of hip-hop. But, point taken.
To finish the story, Suge Knight ended up hearing the song before it came out & had Pac jump on a remix of it dissing Dr Dre(called "Toss It Up"). To add insult to injury, he had Aaron Hall on it(who was beefing w/ Teddy Riley) w/ Kci & Jojo which was a shot at Puff Daddy who had signed Jodeci(before they went on to be heavily west coast affiliated). Keep in mind, Puff Daddy used to be an intern for Teddy Riley & would set up his keyboards. If Im not mistaken, the original remix had to have the sample removed because they didnt clear it & then later the song got pulled from the radio due to Jimmy Iovine strong arming the radio stations lol. The song ended up being the last music video Pac shot before he died. They shot a video on the beach w/ a bunch of white girls & didnt like how it came out, then months later reshot it(w/ a bunch of light skin girls in post production lol) & finished the day before Pac died. Aaron Hall is in the original video but in the 2nd video couldnt be in it due to legal issues so *R Kelly plays the role of him when his vocal part comes up(& keep in mind, R Kelly bit the Fk out of Aaron Hall's vocal style when he first came out & of course copied Teddy Riley's new jack swing style production just like errbody else) . *correction: R Kelly wasnt in the video, it was a look alike confirmed by Danny Boy in an interview on youtube in a video about him doing gay things w/ R&B singers if you wanna search for it. He clarifies this at the end of the video & I had to search through dozens of videos to find the EVIDENCE which means I was misinformed(likely by a nickel in a Toss it Up comment section from the past). Either way, all these nickels in the comment section here blindly disagreeing aint got the answers neither & like Terrence Howard said in Get Rich or Die Trying "even if Im wrong Im right cuz i couldve been right". I had to prove myself wrong by finding evidence. Now Ive corrected my incorrection. Either way, I dont randomly make ish up & Im a thorough bred nickel myself.
@@shesbaldbutiwould google it. I been watching these Riley, Jodeci, etc story videos over a decade. In the music video youll see a dude in a car whos face is never shown for Aaron Halls part. I dont give a Fk who that dude is but apparently it was R Kelly according to Riley or Jodeci. Google will help u confirm it. No need to make ish up nor blindly deny ish i have no clue about. If u know u know. I know cuz the folk who know said so. This like the 100th interview on this song. Even Danny Boy's gay butt got a take on it,he prolly said so in his input on it too. Yall lagging behind learning all this on Vlad's vulture late interview site anyway lol.
Uncleared sample in Rumpshakers was Lafayette Afro Rock Band an American funk rock band formed in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York in 1970. Shortly after their formation, they relocated to France.
Man when you think about the number of songs he’s been apart of. And all the huge hits spanning decades 80’s 90’s 2000’s shits crazy!!! This dude is the GOAT who can touch him and people don’t really talk about him!!!
Bill Bellamy tied in the Mike Tyson thing into the Booty Call joke... when he was on Def Comedy Jam he talked about the Mike Tyson shit then asks "Is this or is this not a booty call?"
Love this interview, No Diggity is one of the most creative uses of a sample ever, if you know the original song by Bill Whithers, they totally flip it and merge blues, RnB and Hip Hop, complete genius use of a sample
I gotta get this full interview, Teddy dropping too many gems and incredible stories on here 🔥🔥 Came a long way from that running Teddy Riley wifi joke from verzuz 😭🥴
....one of the BIGGEST PINNACLES of BLACK CULTURE was the TV show NEW YORK UNDERCOVER creating a crime montage to NO DIGGITY....it was just GENIUS....i remember just smiling to myself....it was just so REAL...and ELEGANT and MODERN...i will NEVER FORGET IT....
I got to see this interview in it's entirety & outside of how amazing Mr. Riley was/is as a subject, one of the things that made it even more interesting was the interviewer. No disrespect to him, however, some of his facts were incorrect & he did not know some of the people, places or things that Teddy Riley was speaking about; then what Mr. Riley did was correct him on the facts & gave him back stories on the people, places & things in order for him to understand the vibe of that time along with the overall feeling of what New York City/Harlem was like. Because Teddy Riley was painting these pictures for him, you could hear him gain the understanding/appreciation of how important Mr. Riley was in shaping Black music, that is still influenced today with his contributions
I'm a 90's R and B guy so I had to know that was Teddy on first verse. But through the years I guess I forgot. I don't know why I put in my head it was Dave Hollister lol. But Teddy did a great job on the first verse. It sets the tone. And to be honest I thought it was cool but being a teenager back then, that two step beat didn't really sell it for me. No Diggity didn't sound like anything out. I liked that "Don't Leave Me Sound". But that tells you great Teddy is. It grew on me after a while and is their biggest hit now.

I found it interesting that 2pac took the no diggity beat for Toss it up to diss Dre, then blackstreet took pacs I ain’t mad at cha beat for Don’t leave
BlackStreet hits are so timeless! Before I let you go, don’t leave , no diggity?! Why wouldn’t you wanna be born in the 90s lmao?! The rugrats song ?! Stop playing with me man, we all simultaneously made rugrats a black show off that song lol
