Teddy Riley needs a documentary and biopic. This is a very good interview. Teddy is a phenomenal producer. I'm glad I grew up in the era listening to Guy. They are one of my favorite R&B groups of the 90's. I recently attended the New Edition Legacy Tour with Guy and Keith Sweat. Guy put on a great show.
Yes he has!! Extremely beyond talented and very intelligent with common sense beyond his years His story is phenomenal and one of the ones who had a foundation and stayed loyal to his passion WE LOVE YOU TEDDY MUCH HONOR TO YOU THANK YOU FOR SUCH A GREAT MUSICAL CONTRIBUTION IN HISTORY as far as I’m concerned he is the creator of New Jack Swing MAJOR GAME CHANGER IN MUSIC HISTORY 🌺and yes RIH FRANKIE CROCKER RADIO LEGEND TRULY MISSED🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
OMG I feel bad for Teddy having to deal with Aaron’s arrogant ignorant zzz I’m glad he walked away from guy!! And he’s 1000 percent correct about Rkelly insanely talented but mentally disturbed that went unaddressed
I put off watching this when I seen it was over three hours long...BUT when I say it went sooo fast!!! I could watch three more hours of this king!!! Teddy is BRILLIANT & SO HUMBLE!!! I know his music & his work but I have never seen him in an interview like this. I luv that fact that Vlad just let him tell his story without interrupting him & the questions Vlad asked later was good ones. I also luv the things he said about his mom & kids!!! A man that treats his mom like a queen knows how to treat his woman!!! Great interview!! 🔥🔥🔥🥰
He doesn’t. How about he write a book. Y’all gotta get outta that mentality that every famous black person has to sell their story to some studio spa y’all can have some visual entertainment
Terrific interview. TR's catalogue certainly deserves 3+ hours of interview! He really gives a good impression of an all-around cool, mellow, nice and humble dude. Thanks for putting this together!
Teddy Riley needs way more flowers than he gets. This man is a musical genius/pioneer whether if you were young or old if you were alive in the late 80s -2000 we all nodded our heads to at least 1 record he made so much good music shout out to Guy, wrecks n effecks,Blackstreet ✌❤💙
His ear is incredible & I'm proud to call him my brother. 'Make It LAST Forever' is a blessing from THE MOST HIGH. Thank u for our amazing classic records on that album. So proud of what you accomplished. I love u kid!!!!!
Guy was one of my favorite groups when they came out. Keith Sweat's 1st album hit so hard. Teddy produced some of the biggest hits of the late 80s early 90s. Can't forget about Blackstreet
My God! Seeing those clips of Aaron Hall I clutched my pearls! I don’t blame Teddy Riley for being embarrassed around that guy, I’m embarrassed just for hearing it! Anywho this was a very good interview, I enjoyed it. Teddy Riley, I love his music, his work and seem like he has a down to earth personality, I love it! 👌🏾❤️
I haven't gotten to the part of the interview about Aaron Hall but I just want to say while listening to Aaron Hall's voice and singing ability as lead on the songs, I always considered his voice to be great and he had an amazing singing talent!!! I don't think he has been given the credit he deserves and recognition for his great singing and voice!!! KUDOS TO AARON HALL as well‼️🔥🔥🎉🎉🎉🎉🏆⭐️💯❤️🤍❤️🙂
Ive Had the Honor of being around & learning from Brother Teddy He iis Icon & if you ever have a chance to be around him. You will see how he is the most giving & down to earth person willing to help any artist or muscian with the knowledge to be better!!!!!!!
First time he cursed during this interview, is when Vlad mentioned his daughter’s tattoo of Soulja Boy. His quiet anger is scary. I felt it more than heard it.
Wow i agree emphatically Mr. Teddy Riley definitely needs a biopic. What a great interview. Mr. Riley is very specific in telling his account. The first thing I noticed from Mr. Riley began speaking is his resonant humility. He seems genuinely humble. He paid some dues and still humble off the jump from humble beginnings. It was a pleasure to listen to Mr. Riley's life story from the start then to the present now. And let me say to Vlad great job sir! I love you Vlad idc what my daughter said about you❤ peace brothers
I was born in 1990, and although I was a big fan of blackstreets music, i’ve only recently recieved a true insight on Ted Riley and the impact he’s had on the music world. I’ve always heard his name, but last year I was intrigued to realize that he had produced a crazy amount of my favorite hit records. This interview randomly showed up on my screen and I couldn’t turn away. It’s rare that I watch a full interview, even from my favorite entertainers. This one is a true gem, and I’m thankful that I came across it.
THE "COME-UP" STORIES BEFORE THERE WAS AN INTERNET CONNECTION ARE SO GENUINE & INTERESTING. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE NOWADAYS TO KNOW WHO PAVED THE ROAD BEFORE THEM!!!!!
I love how sweet and humble he is. God bless you sir. And I pray you get ALLLLLLL your money and flowers. You are a gem 💎 to us all. Thanks for repping VA a little. I was too young to go but I heard the VA beach parties were so much fun
St. Nick forever! ❤️ (building 277). Talented, musical genius since birth! We used to scream Teddy! -- when he passed PS 154 school yard!🤣I went to school with his little brother. Humble Giant!✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨
This was a great interview. Teddy is definitely a living legend with a great story/stories to tell. The people he crossed paths with in his past and present. Monumental interview. Great work Vlad.👍🏿
Dude is an absolute legend. Literally created a new genre on his own. There would be no Rodney Jerkins, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo without him. Hell, you might even argue that MJ might of not been as successful in the early 90's without his production on the Dangerous album.
You was on point untill you mentioned Michael Jackson wouldn’t have had that much success. MichEl Jackson was already the king of all kings in the music game after the bad album. After thriller even. Don’t ever mention Michael Jackson ever again. Bum
Always been a fan since a child...I love his back story.. Kool moe D was my first album not tape but record album. Everything he makes is dope. .I'm watching him and I can't get over how fly he is..for his age he looks amazing..as if he doesn't age. That outfit, his watch, his chain...❤his style.
Vlad really needs to learn how to stop interrupting the people he's interviewing & just ask the damn questions. He sounds like he even gets offended when Teddy told him to let him finish. Theses interviews don't have time limits but Vlad acts like he's in a damn rush.
This dude my favorite producer of all time dope keyboard player producing melodic dance fusion of hip hop and swing 🔥🔥🔥 hats off Teddy Riley ..and we ♎️
@@sereroserera367 To me he appears extremely mild mannered and very kind. I'm saying this as a compliment not derogatory, he has a child like innocence about him, I'm aware he's man and does man things, know what I mean, hint hint. In addition he's extremely talented.
Yes. You can tell he's a gentle soul and unfortunately the music business and the people around him were vultures. Abusers fighting each other to see who gets the right to abuse the next victim.
Gene Griffin was straight up the Don King of the industry. After GUY broke up, Gene went out and found himself the next look-a-like, sound-a-like Guy group! And that group was called 'Basic Black." Gene Griffin was their executive producer and manager. Right there he was double dipping!! Basic Black had hits called "She's Mine, Nothing But a Party, and Special Kinda Fool." And did not receive a dame dime. Gene ripped them off too!
I remember that! Being music industry adjacent, I’d also hear stories of how Gene would put his hands on TR. I was extremely happy when TR left. Timmy Gatling was the smart one though. Gene forced him out after he wouldn’t sign the contract giving Gene complete control of their publishing and business monetization.
I APPRECIATE YOU T.Riley. Waiting on your book 📖!!!! I LOVE ❤️ your music 🎶, dedication & motivation which I hope many will take the time to study. YOU ARE AWESOME TEDDY RILEY!!!! 🥰
Great presentation Mr. Riley. Your musical genius, your growth and humility as a strong BLACK MAN is so powerful I am sure after this interview in time there will be those who will say Teddy Riley is my HERO! Which is a source of inspiration that is in short supply within our communities today leading to violence and senseless killings. GOD BLESS YOU TOO FOR AMPLIFYING WITH PRIDE AND JOY YOUR AUTHENTIC LOVE AND APPRECIATION FOR YOUR MOTHER. LOVED IT TOO THAT YOU ADDRESSED MICHAEL'S MOM AS "MOTHER JACKSON" and not simply Katherine as some have stated. I have always said show me a MAN WHO LOVES HIS MOTHER AND I WILL SHOW YOU A GREAT MAN! GOD GIFTED YOU TO CREATE WONDERFUL MUSIC, BUT, MORE IMPORTANTLY GIVEN YOU THE WISDOM TO HONOR YOUR MOTHER! PLUS YOUR CRITICAL RECOGNITION OF THE ROLE WOMEN HAVE ON THIS EARTH! MUSIC AND WISDOM WHAT A POWERFUL COMBINATION FOR THIS JOURNEY CALLED LIFE!!! YES, IT IS VERY CLEAR TOO THAT WE REAP WHAT WE SOW! DIGGING DEEP DOWN IN OUR SOULS TO EXPRESS AN APOLOGY FOR A MEAN SPIRITED ACTION IS MORE THAN WORTH IT! THANK YOU FOR YOUR VERY TRANSPARENT TESTIMONY.
Vlad's interviewing is poor at times...Teddy mentions visiting Tyson in prison. Vlad doesn't ask anything or just say 'tell me about that'? He mentions performing with Biggie the night he got shot. Vlad says nothing. He then says he's not happy when Michael releases 'blood on the dancefloor' - Vlad doesn't probe or ask why. He's missing stories because he's too focused on his questions! A very poor interviewer in my eyes!
17:27: The Glow of Love.Teddy was humming Never Too Much. But I know what you meant Teddy.Great interview. That Gladys Knight story at the Apollo was amazing.
Mj's blood on the dance floor and invincible was a dope album the media was at fault for it not going to far as it should had if you listen to the album today it's timeless 🔥
I like that Teddy said “we always kept in contact with our dad” it’s actually rare that the father permanently just vanishes. It happens a lot but very low percentage. But it shouldn’t happen at all.
I think he was talking about his step dad ...he really didn't know his father was his father until he got a lil older because his mother wasn't sure if he was his step dad or her ex..
I could have watched another three hours. Nothing but pure gems mixed with untold events that many didn't know took place. A musical treasure to the world. Salute and Respect for this candid behind the scenes sit down and God Bless❗️
As much as I agree with your comment, I might add that James Brown‘s introduction of “On the One” was/is responsible for the New Jack Swing AND the music of today. 👍🏾
I saw Teddy in a mall in Arlington, Virginia in the mid-late 90s, walking around, all by himself. Lots of ladies & a few dudes walking up getting autographs. I don't think smartphones was a thing, but he was taking pictures with whoever walked up to him. I'm a 6'4" dude so I just watched & said, damn, look at this lil rich & famous dude walking around all by himself without worrying about a hater stepping to him. I thought that was pretty cool. Also, R Kelly might have as many songs (producing, writing or performed) as Teddy.
Teddy Riley has got to do a Movie on Allll of this! He has the journey, the twist and turns, the drama, love, friends. family, the villians, business, a ittle politics, it has Everything! Do that!
it's great seeing Teddy Riley. I remember when Guy's "DO ME RIGHT" was first release. New Jack City et cetera. Hello 2 Brooklyn; Brownsville, Bedstuy, Crown Heights, Mercy Projects, Van Dyke Houses, Mother Gaston Houses, Whitman Houses, Red Hook Projects... Back in the day
What a humble spirit! I never knew he had gone thru all this BS …in the late 90 and early 2000’s I was actively trying to get into the industry but in hindsight it was a blessing cause I may have hurt someone and ruined my life.. I did get knee of burned but it was a life lesson.
I saw him in concert years ago with blackstreet! He did a set of his hits and omg! The songs he produced and made was classics probably only second to R Kelly! His catalogue is crazy! And to see him always humble chill cool and relaxed is amazing! From NY to VA beach! Rump shaker was the first rap song I learned! He is legend! Good to see him alive and still look the same! Ny legend but bigger legend in Va if not for him no missy no timbaland no neptunes no clips! Va is a hard market for artist to make it but he was first!!!!!!! Salute
♥️🙏🏽 God bless you Teddy Riley. To hear in the same tone he spoke in on a video he did for my cousins 50th birthday celebration recently. For him to do a video was heart warming and so nice🙏🏽
