To understand that last dance it helps to know about Exo. Exo the group Kai is from has an insane amount of lore, even more than Ateez, and as part of that each member has a power. Kai's power is teleportation, which he does throughout the video. On a side note, San is a huge Kai fan.

This whole album (also called Kai) is absolutely phenomenal! It's so cohesive yet surprising, and really showcases his voice. He's only a subvocalist in EXO bc _it's EXO_ - they have three main vocalists for a reason.

It's insane that he debuted as a soloist with this album. Kai is one of the top idols in kpop. Idol of idols. A beast.

Kai is on stage already more than 11 years and he is absolutely the most sexy guy in Korea. Perfect dancer as well. If you will react to his another solo projects or EXO’s stuff you will understand difference. EXO are bad boys in k-pop.

To understand what is happening in Kai's "Mmmh" MV, you have to first understand EXO's storyline and concept. As a member of an SM group, it shouldn't be a surprise that Kai is such a great singer and performer. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their visuals, vocals and/or dance skills, and even the rappers get intense training as vocalists. That is why SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. And EXO is a group that is a perfect example of that. Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in someway to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 11+ years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet EXO and they came to Earth with superpowers on a mission to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years, we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. Kai's EXO superpower is teleportation, so what you see throughout his "Mmmh" MV is him teleporting. For example, why you see Kai move a fraction of a frame in the scene when his backup dancers "disappeared," is because they didn't disappear. Kai was the one that moved when he teleported from another time or place at that moment. In other words, he was a fraction of a second off on purpose to show that he was the one moving as he teleported, not the dancers. With what I know about EXO's storyline, nothing is ever random, and even the most minute of details have been designed to give clues and hints within EXO's story. So, even the subtle little details that you might overlook -- such as placing Kai in that shot a fraction of a second off -- could actually be done intentionally. And, I think, at the very end scene, what you are seeing is SM connecting Kai's solo storyline to EXO's storyline. You see D.O.'s power of earth (dirt) which gives him super strength/force and Xiumin's power to control snow/ice/frost being used. You also see what I think is the emergence of a pyramid, which represents Kai and his superpower -- as part of EXOs storyline, all the members have a symbol that represents them. A pyramid is Kai's symbol and when you see a pyramid within EXO's storyline it represents something to do with Kai. I also find it interesting that Xiumin returned from the military about a month before this MV was released, and D.O. just returned from the military shortly after its release, so the end scene in "Mmmh" may be SM's way of connecting the events of this MV to D.O.'s and Xiumin's future solo work as well. If you analyse all the scenes within Kai's MV you would find connections can be made to EXO's storyline and things to do with past EXO MVs and probably even future MVs, as well as SuperM's storyline. Kai is also a member of SuperM, which is the industry's very first Supergroup made up of members from SM Entertainment's other male groups -- Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten and Lucas from WayV. SuperM's concept is that they are "The Avengers of Kpop," and the members are supposed to be superhero-like characters who are coming together to form an Avengers-like group to help EXO defeat the evil Red Force. And, like the majority of SM's groups, all of their storylines and concepts intertwin and connect. For example, in SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, you see Kai being chased by or being aided by drones as he tried to scale a building, in his attempt to stop the Red Force. So, I think the scene in "Mmmh," where you see him looking at the drones hovering around him, has something to do with connections between Kai's solo storyline and SuperM/EXO's MVs. Also, Kai means opening, as in a door or gateway, so as a member of EXO, Kim JongIn (Kai) was given the stage name Kai because, as the center of the group, he is supposed to be the member who connects everyone together and that is why he was given the ability to teleport. Plus, as part of EXO's storyline, it is thought that the members are traveling between dimensions and time periods throughout history in their quest to find the Tree of Life and to fix all the evil and corruption that is thought to be caused by the Red Force. So, it is thought that what you see in Kai's MV is him traveling between dimensions and across time periods in his search. That is why you see him in so many different locations and scenes in this MV. There is also a fan theory that the reason why we see Kai with so many different looks and styles in these scenes is because it's not always Kai that we are seeing. Another part of EXO's storyline is that some of the members have evil alter ego clones that have been created by the Red Force. (As we see introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV.) So, some theories think that sometimes we are seeing Kai's evil X-EXO clone and other times we are seeing superhero, good EXO Kai. And that eye we see in this MV, although I am not sure what it means yet, I think it's connected to the eye we see in other SM MVs, such as EXO Lay's solo "Namanana" MV and SM's new girl group aespa's "Savage" MV, and maybe even the eye symbol and closeup of the dragon's eye in Lay's solo "Lit" MV. And it even looks like it could be connected to the eye we see in SHINee Key's "Gasoline" and "Killer" MVs. The eyes all look slightly different, but I think they are supposed to be a symbol that connects something within the larger storyline of SM's SM Culture Universe. (Everything SM does is part of one giant storyline like a huge graphic novel or mystery movie series.) All of the EXO members first solo songs have something to do with the fact that they are members of EXO, and their MVs and songs show them using their powers. Xiumin's solo debut "Brand New" MV, shows him using his power of frost, D.O.'s MV for his solo debut song "Rose" shows him using his power of force, Baekhyun's debut album City Lights and MV "UN Village" talks about his power to control light, Suho's "Let's Love" MV shows him with his power to control water, and Kai teleports all over in his "Mmmh" MV. As the first EXO member to have a solo career, the majority of Lay's solo MVs tie into EXO's storyline as well. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order. So, we fans have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of everything any of the members of EXO/SuperM are involved in to try and piece it all together and figure out where each part fits within their larger storyline. And the story isn't just limited to their MVs, but it extends to everything EXO is involved in, including teaser videos, live performances, concert VCRs and even a majority of their choreography. As you can see, EXO's and SM's Universe is extremely complicated and complex, and even the most expert of fans, has trouble following the storyline. The thing is, none of us really know exactly what is happening in the story, it's all just fan theories and educated guesses. SM has never confirmed or denied any of our theories and they have left it completely up to fans to figure out what is happening and to create the story. (We only hope that someday SM will release the book or produce a movie that will explain the whole story, so we will know whether any part of our theories were correct.) "Mmmh" is the lead track on Kai's solo debut self-titled mini album, Kai, which came out in 2020. There are 6 songs on this album. To hear the rest of the songs, check out his epic "Film: Kai" video, which was created to give viewers a sample of all of the tracks on his album. If you like Kai's dancing you have to check out his dance practice video for "Mmmh." You are going to be even more blown away when you see the full choreography. As the main dancer of EXO, Kai is literally one of the top two best dancers in Kpop. And that's not just a fan's opinion, but it's a title given to him by his peers and the the industry as a whole. (Taemin from SHINee -- who happens to be Kai's best friend since trainee days, and is a fellow member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) There is literally no one better when it comes to dance in the world of Kpop than Kai and Taemin.

Thanks for giving Kai's music a chance !! To give you more info about him, he's not only a soloist but he's a part of the group EXO and SuperM (highly recommend EXO's music) which he's the main dancer for both groups along with a vocalist and occasionally a rapper at times !! The bit of the ending and throughout the mv is him teleporting since that's his superpower in EXO (the lore is that each member of EXO has their own superpowers since they're aliens from another world called exoplanet). If you're interested in checking out more of his music I suggest Peaches which there is a music video for along with the bsides Amnesia (from his first album KAI), Vanilla (from his 2nd album PEACHES), and Bomba (from his 3rd album ROVER) !! Kai is represented by SM Entertainment (the same label that represents such as Aespa, NCT/WayV, Red Velvet, SHINee, Super Junior,TVXQ, GOT the Beat, and the two groups Kai is in: EXO, and SuperM). SM artists all seem to have strong performance skills (they have so many All-rounders in their groups) and an emphasis on experimentation, including unusual song structures. SM doesn't seem to shy away from racy lyrics at all. If you felt this was racy, I can only imagine what you will think of some of Kai's other solo tracks like "Peaches." Not sure if you will like that song or not. You might want to give EXO and SuperM a try to see Kai performing with his groups. I think you might want to start with "Monster" or "Mama" for EXO and "Jopping" for SuperM. I do think you would enjoy those tracks.

Im surprised no one has said this in comments yet but each exo member has basically a superpower. Its kinda explained in “mama”. I think Kai’s is teleportation …could be wrong. You should start with early exo stuff and move forward. Kinda like your NF journey. I just got into kpop last year and EXO is my bias for songs, dance and talent.
