Derek leaving entirely for Don't Think Twice has got to be one of the best things about the guy. He lets his wife and the sax player shine without stealing any of the spotlight by being there. And the band is named after him!
For the uninitiated coming here for maybe the first time, a quick translation: Susan Tedeschi: "We're gonna play some songs for you" Translation to normal humans:"We're gonna lay some molten steel and honey down here to speak straight to your soul."
This band is a gift. My heart beating again.. So if any of the band members ever read these posts....Please never stop making music, the world needs you guys... Thank you Tedeschi Trucks Band
Love these videos of the band just playing, without it being a concert. Watching the expressions of the band members is wonderful - just enjoying hanging out and playing. If you haven't, check out the video of them with Taj Mahal doing Leavin' Trunk.
Right? And to think, these two beautiful people got married and made babies together. They are someone's parents! No matter how cool you think your parents are, uhhh. Yeah. These two.
This stuff is my rock, only wish I wasn't stuck in south africa as a blues harp player, just to jam like this is a heaven out of my reach. Damn Ted trucks is the real thing man
Stunning. I love Truck's playing, but the real star here for me is Tedeschi. What a voice. I can't think of a better pairing than these two, both musically and personally. I just love to see the love they have for each other and their music. And her voice gets better and better with every venture. Been a fan of Susan's for a long time, but no one brings out the singer in her like this band. I'm so grateful they have kept this project going, and I hope it will last for a very, very long time. Thanks for posting!
They are the perfect bridge to bring the Delta Blues of the early 1900's to 2017! This is one of the best blues bands around. Susan's voice is just so great!
Still listening to this in 2020. Still brings a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat, especially at the end when the guys smile lovingly at her and nod.
@@kevinwilliams4840 It's not sadness but a feeling of love and joy. First, Susan brings so much emotion to this song that it stirs the soul. Second, watch from 11:04 to the end. You can feel the love and admiration between the two vocalists, Mark Rivers and Mike Mattison, and Susan when they make eye contact. Mark's smile and nod says it all.
Just now stumbling across this video/audio and have always loved these two(and the band); even back before they joined forces into something supernatural. I remember Derek doing a couple of New Years shows at Cumberlands back before he could legalIy hang out at the bar between sets. I immediately recognized the location, as it's across the street from the side entrance to our Church. SO, kudos to the sound team as this is a VERY busy intersection in downtown Charleston. For those of you who don't live in this "neck of the woods", notice that there is not a single blowing of a car horn during the entire performance.
This looks like its across the street from the Old Citadel in downtown Charleston, SC. Amazing. Its across from what is now the Embassy Suites hotel in Marion Square, Charleston, SC
I love everything this band does but I live for the acoustic stuff. It brings tears to my eyes. I’ve listened/watched this video countless times and it never gets old. They are a gift to me. I haven’t been excited by a band, I mean REALY EXCITED since my twenties. Then this band came along and I feel woke to music again. It’s quite a gift in my sixties to feel like a kid again about a band. Thank you so much for bringing me such joy. I am very ill and had to forfeit seeing TTB in Boca as I had just had most of my right lung removed. I don’t know what the future holds for me but if I have my way, it’s seeing them at The Beacon. It’s been a dream of mine for years but something has always gotten in the way. I’ve seen them at The Orpheum in Boston on many occasions and even saw Susan with special guest Derek prior to TTB at The Melody Tent. If I’m well enough this fall, I’m hoping to be able to score a great seat at the Beacon during this year’s residency.
Wonderful - Wonderful - 63 year old rock and roller and Dylan fan here with tears of joy listening to this - love Susan's voice - saw Derrick a few years ago now in concert with Eric Clapton and searched him out after that which put me onto Tedeschi Trucks Band - what a find - cannot get enough of their music - thanks so much for sharing this - Steve.P.S. - how an this possibly get 4 dislikes ??????
I so often come back to this rendition of Keep your Lamp Trimmed & Burning. I first heard this by the hand of Reverend Gary Davis himself in 1962. In awe. This rendition is the best since.
I remember Terrance( drummer on the "just won"t burn" tours) saying the exact same thing. We rode a passenger van all over the country for a long while then got a tour bus! Then we got replaced by Double Trouble! What an honor!...-bass player du jour.
Susan Tedeschi you are a stronger and facial expressions when mixed with the sound almost embodies the word .. Aphenomenon that will not be repeated in the near future .. God bless you Susan .
Beautiful, I don't think I'll ever get tired of listening to this. Original Lyrics: Keep your lamp trimmed and a-burning Keep your lamp trimmed and a-burning Keep your lamp trimmed and a-burning Oh See what the Lord has done Sister don't get worried Sister don't get worried Sister don't get worried For the work is almost done Keep your lamp trimmed and a-burning Keep your lamp trimmed and a-burning Keep your lamp trimmed and a-burning Oh See what the Lord has done Brother don't get worried Brother don't get worried Brother don't get worried For the work is almost done Heaven's journey, is almost over Heaven's journey, is almost over Heaven's journey, is almost over See what the Lord has done Elder don't get worried Elder don't get worried Elder don't get worried For the work is almost done Is almost over Is almost over Is almost over See what the Lord has done Brother don't get worried Brother don't get worried Brother don't get worried For the work is almost done
found this video late at night on a Wednesday, and boy did it really hit the spot I just love this band.. I really could get into / appreciate Derek style of playing hey it's nice to see him put down the SG, and pick up an acoustic guitar.. on the porch very cool I wish they coming to my house !! ☆☆☆☆ Susan's vocals are just great thanks for sharing !!
Glad you enjoyed it I agree I love the acoustic performances they've been doing this past year. Hope there is some acoustic tracks on there new album, if you have time please feel free to check out my TTB & Derek covers.
Susan Tedeschi sjekka opp Derek as soon he was legal and it was a very good match. They are by far the best family band today and both are musical genius
I always enjoying hearing Susan, how can you not ,but this is the first time she ever put tears in my eyes.I think it took this acoustic setting and earthy music to do it.Its the sound of an old downtrodden soul.A powerful powerful soul.
I like Christine McVie's voice to.Its very smooth and soothing. Her keyboard playing is fine also.I think she should have gotten more credit in Fleetwood Mac than the media and public ever gave her.Check out her fine blues piano work in the Peter Green era of Fleetwood Mac.
Believe me I have :) I enjoy everything she's done. I also agree about the credit and the media. Just like Gayle McCormick from SMITH. I was in love with her back in 69 when SMITH covered Baby It's You. I'm not sure why some make it and others don't but hey, these sweet voice's will be around forever!
best band in ages, music for all the people to grab a guitar, tambourine, harp or horn and play, sing or dance along....their inclusive spirit reminds me of bhajans in india. give thanks..
I've listened to this several times now and if this isn't the Lord speaking thru her voice then I don't know what would be. She reaches down and pulls all the emotion she can out of me.......Thank you so much for sharing this!
Yo you guys are tight.ilove every. Song but the second one with backup singers dammn and the woman voice golly, and that guitar beautiful.i haven't got chills in a long time.please keep playing I'm keeping all of you in my prayers 😎👌👍
I just love this band. I finally had a chance to see them from a reasonable distance last year. Derek's playing sounds so easy, it's amazing to actually be able to watch his hands. Susan has one of the best blues voices in the business.
Susan's voice and Derek's lead as well as an amazing band aall combine to produce some of the best Blues music I've ever heard. I can just feel her voice going right through me its so powerful!
