That slide is a Coricidin bottle, often he uses the one Duane Allman used. He often plays on Duane's guitar as well. Written by Mike Matthison, one of the backup singers.
What you should do is listen to other versions of this same song, through the past 12+ years, and you will never hear the same opening or the same solo. Derek plays for the moment as a jazz musician does! I first saw Derek in 1991 at a small club in Palm Bay, Fl. He was just 12 years old. Then saw him in 1994 before his 15th birthday. It was amazing how much he had learned. But in 1998 a band i was in opened up for the Derek Trucks Band, at the Sebastian Beach Inn, Fl. Derek was just shy of his 19th birthday. It was SHOCKING at what he had become as a musician. I sat there stunned at everything he was doing, and I'm just a Drummer!! Then as he kept his own band he joined the Allman Brothers Band when he turned 20 years old. Again through those years he just got better and better. Now in 2023 he is still amazing me at his playing. This is definitely one of the top 5 bands to see live!!! The only downfall in the Tedeschi Trucks Band is it is based mainly on the Wife's vocals. But it is still worth seeing them, when the band does there JAM'S and she leaves the stage!! Those are the HIGHLIGHTS for me.
That's the best guitarist in the world, with the best (female) singer in the world (oh and they just so happen to be married), in the best BAND in the world! You could spend 30 minutes dissecting every 5 seconds of this song. Seen them twice - I cannot rave about this group enough. Treat yourself and watch more.
Here's another guitar player you should react to. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xuDDrtydE2Y.html Steve Kimock is his name. I love his tone. He's lesser known and deserves more attention. Much like the Tedeschi Trucks Band. 😉
The back up singer playing acoustic guitar, Mike Mattison, wrote this song. He was the lead singer in The Derek Trucks Band. That band merged with Susan Tedeschi's band to form the Tedeschi Trucks Band. It's pronounced Ta dess key. He plays a slightly different solo every time.
I loved the guitar solo. I’m a fan of David Gilmours guitar work and something in this reminded me of how Gilmour plays - or how I feel when I hear him playing. And the emotions I had hearing her voice were the same I always have when listening to Joni Mitchell. As far as i can judge this band as a non-musician: Top quality. Thanks for the suggestion and of course for your great reaction. Would love to hear them again on your channel.😍
Fabulous. Most of my viewing nowadyas is for heavy metal and hard rock especially of the Japanese variety except formthe TTB as they arefabaulous. Derek'sguitar playing is just so fantastic and Susann (his wife) has such a soulful voice and she is no slouch on the guitar either. Love the full sound theynget with theirlarge ensemble with keys and brass as well. Derek is related to amemeber (maybe some mebres of the Allman Brothers band and I recall seeing a video of Derek playing with them (when he possibly was not even a teenager) at a live performance, and he was fantastic on guitar even then
