If you never got to watch Teddy play, you can get a sense of why he is an all time great aroind the 5:40 mark when Jules asks Teddy if he thinks he could be a veteran presence in todays lockerrooms. Being able to adapt and understand the way things are going is what separates all time greats from the good players.

The end where teddy says he's not plugging anything and is just there for his guy... mad respect on that, shows what kind-of a dude he is.

If Jules in his prime was on 07 instead of welker. We go undefeated. If we had welker instead of Edelman vs the falcons we do not make the comeback.

If I had to make a list of my all time favorite Patriots Teddy would be tied with Troy Brown at the #2 spot behind Tom. The reason for the tie is that Bruschi was one of the most brutal players I remember watching while Troy Brown was the most dependable dude ever. Played both ways for multiple games, was a badass on special teams and always seemed to make the big catch.
@dp233332
@dp233332 9 месяцев назад
With all due respect to Bruschi, Ted Johnson and R.Harrison were more brutal...Johnson hit ball carriers FBs and offensive lineman so hard he had to retire due to warning signs of early dimentia...He ran thru his opponents head1st without slowing down and bracing for impact...Manhandled J.Bettis many times, had the size and strength to not give ground against Bettis when collisions between them occured...Steeler fans love to complain about spygate but it was advantages like that1 that made the difference...The vast majority of our LBs and DLs were all insanely stout...McGinest, Phifer Seymour Ty Warren Johnson and Vrabel...they were all around 250-300lbs...might not have been fast but they could stand anyone upfront up and get the job done when 2gapping...Bruschi was the only relatively smaller framed body among them... No1 ever really bothers to say it because he lived, returned to the field and got CPOY and is still doing OK all these yrs later, but what happened to him as a player was tragic...After spending the latter half of the 90s fighting just to secure and retain a starting spot on the roster Bruschi had reached his prime, had been performing at a HOF level for 2 maybe even 4 seasons in a row...Altho he won the CPOY award he was NEVER the same all-pro caliber player hed been before the stroke...He didnt make great plays anymore...Instead he was a part of plays he will continue to wish he could do over again for the rest of his life, not only in regards to the B.Jacobs 4th and 1 he referenced during this interview but also regarding the 2006AFCCG when he froze up and failed to snatch that fumbled football that had squirted straight up into the air out of Reggie Waynes hands right in front of Bruschi...2001-2004 he was an absolutely outstanding playmaker with an uncanny nose for the ball and sometimes the endzone after it....Was hard/despressing watching a reduced version of him after the stroke...same with Rodney Harrison in 2007 who was a shell of himself by that point in time...They werent outright incompetent liabilities but they were no longer exceptional players who popped off the screen...Pats woulda finished 19-0 in 07 if either 1 of them had still been in their prime...their defense was a bit of a paper tiger that yr...seymour was not in his prime anymore neither was Bruschi Harrison or Seau once Colvin was lost to injury and Vrabel hurt his shoulder they no longer could get to the QB anwhere near as frequently and needed their offense to score as often as possible to at least tilt the field for them...

Teddy would spy out what the opponent was doing and he just jet from one side line to the next and tackle the running back for no gain or lost that was pure instinct and understanding how to make opponents think they got something and it’s like he playing tennis get to the ball quick change direction tackle

I’m a life long pats fan and I was watching a pre season game I forget who they were playing. One of the commentators was Gerry Glandville and Teddy was a rookie and made a great special teams tackle and Gerry yelling Teddy Give Me a Brewski lol I would have to look up what year but might be able to find that on n yt

The Teds were the reason I ultimately stopped watching football, in conjunction with the revelation that the NFL had buried multiple CTE studies, and new without question, that guys were being dealt serious, unrepairable damage whenever they strapped up, and toughed it out. Johnson coming forward with his struggles, Bruschi nearly dying and the league just...letting him come back? I decided I didnt want to have any new favorite football players, bc all the guys I watched triumph, and who built all those memories for me, traded a bunch of the years off the back of their lives to do it - without knowing the cost they were paying. But getting to listen to Bruschi spin tales, here, was really special. An unbelievable player, and a sparkling commentator. Glad he's still with us, and still sharp.

I think every rookie just fails the test - Teddy was supposed to challenge Cotes and stab even harder the next time - daring him to break his arm - we know he truly couldn't he'd be ejected from the team - so you say "yes sir I understand" and then on the next go you stab even harder. That's the rookie attitude they are trying to sniff out.

SB42 was the most painful experience a sportsfan can go thru without someone dying, and that loss is what kept Brady playing until he was 45...Bruschis remarks about contemplating whether hed trade all 3 rings for that1 speaks to me...They may not have admitted it cuz no1 should ever need an extra reason to want to go 19-0, but spygate and the way the media opposing players and NFL fans reacted to it was an enormous motivating factor...Players like Bruschi Brady Vrabel K.Faulk Seymour were desperate to prove to the world that none of that spying stuff Bill had done had made a difference that they were as good or even better without it, and I cant help but feel as tho when they finally won the AFCCG with 0 losses on their record, they let off the gas because they had pretty much fully proven that point just by getting to the SB with an undefeated record...I remember feeling that way myself as they celebrated after defeating the Chargers-I felt as tho theyd already completed by far the hardest part of that task at hand, that they just had to go out there be what theyve been and theyd finish the job...They came out flat in that SB...The coaching let them down, the offensive line let them down and the stone hands of about 5 or 6 different patriots defensive players also let them down in SB42...As a fan I wouldnt trade 3Lombardis for that1 but id likely trade 2of em to have seen them finish that SB undefeated instead... Love Bruschi and Edelman...Doubt either get into the pro football HOF but for 4 or so yrs both of therm absolutely performed at a HOF level...

This is the interview. Too much talk about the 2nd phase of the dynasty. It takes away from the D's and BB's greatness. Brady vs BB discussions are BS. People don't know their history but are more than willing to snap judgments on fragments of the run.

I used to think he made Brady but after Brady left and won a chip w the Bucs and Belicheck absolutely failed season after season… I realized he was nothing without the Goat. Go check his record without Brady.
