I grew up with this music as well. I was 36 years old at this iconic performance. I'm glad to have lived through those times when artists could still take their time for breathtaking, lyrical perfection. Unfortunately, the business and its output are now increasingly resembling a fast food restaurant.

The whole PULSE concert is absolutely incredible. This solo from Comfortably Numb is consistently ranked in many polls as the greatest live guitar solo of all time. Nobody does such emotional solos like David Gilmour. You should also react to the song "Sorrow" from the PULSE concerts for another phenomenal and mind blowing guitar solo.

Unlike a lot of artists and bands who perform live to highlight their personalities and egos, Pink Floyd's intention was to create an experience. An experience of sound and light and spirit and emotion where the band members are a piece of this magnificent puzzle... not the reason for it. They succeed at that mission to the point that, if you were lucky to attend one or more of these shows, when it ends you feel like you are emerging from a dream. From some other place where sound and light and spirit and emotion merge.

Very true. I have to add that even with less lights, the last Gilmour's solo tour has been able to raise the same emotions. I cried tears on High Hopes. I've attended the gig in Circo Massimo in Rome I think it was in 2016. Of course I've been at all the Pink Floyd tours since 1985 at least once, plus Waters' The Wall. Also that was highly emotional, even missing Sir David on Comfortably Numb. He had Snowy White who is a great guitarist, but Gilmour is on another plan of existence.

Some bands fail to capture their magic in the studio, but absolutely kill it live. Some bands create great albums, but live they just don't have it. Pink Floyd's albums are miles ahead of most band's, and are true works of art. And then somehow their live show is still miles ahead of their albums. And all of those miles are straight up to the heavens. Unbelievable execution by this Gilmour-led group.

I heard my first Pink Floyd song on Christmas Eve 1968. I was 11 years old and the song was, " A Saucerful of Secrets," followed by. "Jugband Blues." Sal was the guy that turned our "Vadio" on to Floyd. Sal ran into Roger Waters coming down the stairs at the Whisky a go-go, in Hollywood in 1968. In their conversation, Sal asked. "What happened to Syd Barrett? Did he quiet?" Roger Waters, replied. "Sid went silly!"... True story.

Not every band can pull it off live. And not very many live recordings are as clean as the studio versions, which are usually perfectly polished. But when you can find a live version of a song that is well recorded, and played by a band capable of reproducing their songs live, you can't beat it. I love the energy of live performances. I love seeing the band doing their thing. And then you have Floyd, who has got all of that, and then also brings heaven down to earth with their stage show. This is the ultimate live show right here. None can top it.

Pink Floyd, and especially Gilmour, were famous for the incredibly long riffing solos. Gilmour himself has said that it's great fun but can't imagine what its like to watch it. As others have said, the Pulse concert is Floyd at their performance peak. Gilmour's voice just keeps getting better. His voice on his solo albums "On an Island" and "Rattle that Lock" is like silk wrapped caramel. I'd highly recommend watching the Live from Gdańsk concert (and the documentary that goes with it)

Best explanation I've heard for the "chills" is that your soul has found it's musical match. The music's vibrational frequency has found a MATCH with your own frequency and when the two meet, you get chills because what's internal and innate to you is now literally vibrating IN HARMONY with something that is external and that's powerful stuff.

Beautiful reaction! What remains in the center of the sphere, when it opens, is the crazy pink diamond representing the heart of Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd, who flew away too soon. I am 64 years old and it opens my heart to see a teenager get emotional like I did when, at the age of 13, in 1973, I listened to Pink Floyd for the first time. All the emotions you felt at your first listen are more or less the same that many of my peers felt at the first meeting with this magical band. Saw the show at Soldier Field in Chicago that summer. The video is great, but imagine it at about a million decibels and 360° surround sound all around the stadium. As if the stage lighting and blinding ball of light at the center of the stadium wasn't enough, throw in some mother nature lighting in the form of lightning⚡ in the skies above, and you pretty much have an out-of-body experience. This was one for the ages.

Normally after concerts there’s a loud murmur of people talking about the concert, but this one, it took me about an hour to finally be able to say something meaningful. One of the two concerts I wish I was old enough to have gone to - this and Queen at Wembley 86.

I saw PF in 1994, RFK Stadium, Washington DC. A friend of mine had a sister who worked for Jack Kent Cooke. She got us the tickets to sit in Jack Kent Cook’s skybox to watch the concert along with his grandson. The laser light show, the riffs, the songs, everything was simply mind blowing. Attended many concerts over the years. This was in the top five for me.

I saw them on this tour in May 1994 on the weekend of my 27th birthday here in New Orleans at the Superdome (I still have my ticket stub). To say that this concert was an out of body, out of mind experience would be a complete understatement, They gave you you everything from THE top musical experience and musicianship to the best light show and sound system I've ever seen and heard before and since. And to have grown people in the audience with chills, goosebumps and tears flowing after this song chanting "Pink Floyd!! Pink Floyd!!" until the last song of the concert began which was "Run Like Hell" where they pretty much set off all of the pyrotechnics across the whole stage set was something I'll never ever forget. That whole concert experience was way beyond mind blowing and totally unforgettable.

@@kevinstarr516 I was at Yankee Stadium & Giants Stadium…. 2 shows a few days apart both almost exactly the same with a couple song swaps(they played “hey you” at Yankee & not at Giants so there were some AMAZING differences…Yankee stadium sounded like they were playing music right off the studio records(yea it was that good) & giants stadium they had a more “live” sound like you hear on pulse & The 1 was better than the other 😂 the sound quality was just outstanding in both shows! DSOTM was played in full at both shows & was the greatest experience I’d ever had. There was zero dead air & the entire show streamed together as each song flowed together just like one of their albums. The feat that Pink Floyd pulled off with this tour is staggering! It’s the greatest tour there ever will be. The Triple encore at both shows Wish you were here, Comfortbly Numb & than closing it out with Run Like Hell left us all in shock 👍 & I’m sure a few people in the front row lost their eye brows 😂

Best concert I ever attended, and I've seen quite a few. Saw 'em at Oakland in '94. TIP: pausing does not affect copyright strikes. Please let it play through. The best reactors do. "Never interrupt the CHILLS."

Would you believe that this wasn't even the finale of this show? Run Like Hell followed. But literally the entire show from start to finish is amazing. I didn't attend this particular show but saw them a few months earlier in Los Angeles. It was at the Rose Bowl with probably 90,000 people. We had tickets on the field in front of the stage. There was a large covered thing in the middle of the field, literally right next to us. We figured it was electrical equipment for the show. But during that second solo, the disco ball rose up out of it (instead of down from the ceiling like in this performance). Imagine the spectacle of this video (in an indoor venue with around 20,000 people) in an outdoor stadium with 5 times that many people, and the disco ball lights shining on every single one of them. When it opened up into the lotus flower or whatever it's supposed to be, I literally started crying. The most incredible moment of my life. For comparison, you should check out David Gilmour's performance of this in Pompeii in 2016. He's way older but I actually think that solo is somehow better. Anyway I think they performed this in the same venue (Earl's Court London) for 14 consecutive nights! All sold out. Sadly it was demolished a few years ago.

Silas - your reaction to the '94 pulse concert performance of Comfortably Numb is almost as epic as the show itself. The first time I listened to the second solo, the sensation throughout my entire body was similar to what you descibed - chills all over, slight tremors, but in my case I recall shedding a single tear. My description of that experience can be summed up in a word, 'orgasmic'! Keep up the good work, dude. You have great camera presence - that killer smile will eventually break a heart or two.

I was at the show in Vancouver, British Columbia in '94, and it was absolutely AMAZING!! Glad you got to see the live version, any live Floyd is great and if you just watch some David Gilmour live shows as well, an incredible talent. Keep up the good work Silas, your doing a great job!

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

In my view, this performance has never been bettered, superb. They did 4 nights at this venue, all sold out. BTW the blonde backing singer is Sam Brown, daughter of Legend Joe Brown…..she had a few hits herself in the late 80’s.
