beast boy probably has the best storylines imo of the main 5 titans execution wise..they always hit home and are pure...cause he feels so real and naive and young like most of us..hes not as jaded and he has real optimism and hope despite the odds
Terra was a comic book character long before the tv show, however this version of the character is by far the best and is handled really well. Which is why this version is a fan favourite for a lot of people
I love the fact that Terra's voice actress is Ashley Johnson who most fans recognize her as Gretchen in Disney's _Recess,_ Gwen in _Ben 10: Alien Force/Ultimate Alien,_ Ellie in _The Last of Us,_ and Tulip/Mirror Tulip (MT) in _Infinity Train._ Plus in every cartoon that Greg Cipes (Beastboy) & Ashley Johnson star in such as Teen Titans, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go, Ben 10: Alien Force/Ultimate Alien and TMNT 2012 usually Ashley plays the love interest to Greg Cipes character which Greg Cipes often jokes on Ashley being his "Cartoon Girlfriend"
Yes Brion had a sister named Tara who was codenamed Terra. So yes the Terra in YJ is the same Terra in TT. This Terra and version of the Judas Contract is probably my favorite of any other adaptation or even the comics.
Terra was one of my favorite superhero’s growing up. Not only because she’s one of the few female stand alone superhero’s, but because she’s fun in a super dorky way. I honestly wish she had stayed on throughout the entire season. Plus she’s voiced by Ashley Johnson aka Ellie from The Last Of Us.
This episode is one of my favorites in the series. Ashley Johnson did a wonderful job voicing Terra, especially since she brought out Terra’s personality perfectly! I love Ashley as Ellie, Terra and Gwen Tennyson, and I also love how she and Greg Cipes have been in many shows with their characters being a couple such as this (Terra and Beast Boy), the Ben 10 series (Gwen and Kevin), TMNT (Mikey and Renet) and SRMTHFG (Jinmay and Chiro). And Ron Perlman once again gave us chills with another amazing performance as Slade!
Wow didn't know Kevin and BB were the same voice. Man now I can imagine an older BB almost sounding like Kevin. And whoa yeah Jinmay and Chiro! I remember hearing bb in Chiro and thinking it was cool they both had connections to green apes. I wanna watch some monkey team now...
OMG I had forgotten how early Terra was introduced in this show! And I'm not a superhero comic book reader so this was my first introduction to her and the story tied to her.
Terra's been around for decades now, and yes she was in Young Justice with the same powers. She has a.. long and rather confusing comic book history once you get past her iconic Judas Contract story that's been adapted in everything she's been adapted into.
I'm wondering why Slade said that. I know where Terra got her powers, but not what Slade means when he asked Terra; "How can she lose control if she never had it?."
The character, terra, left a big impression on me when I was a kid. Her story arc was amazing and emotional-which is probably why ellie from TLoU made me feel a certway when she started talking. She was (unbeknownst to myself) touching my heartstrings.
Me too! Whenever Ellie talks or Tulip/MT/Lake talks, I can only imagine Terra talking. But now I can see all those characters. If I go back watching _Recess_ , I can imagine her too.
My favorite character Edit: Never knew Ashley Johnson was Terra but I cant unhear it now. I just recently binged Critical Roles first campaign and shes a main player.
Clearly Terra forgot that her powers were out of her control. Beast Boy didn't betray her of telling the Titans, they saw it personally in the mines. And Robin knew something was off in the desert where Terra was standing.
@@jonasquinn7977 Not 100% canon but this show had Tie-In Comics that went on past S5 that had Brion show up and fight the Titans looking for his sister and he explained her backstory and yeah she was Tara Markov, Princess of Markovia and all that. Then Geo-Force saw her as a school girl noted it was one of the first time he'd seen her truly simile and decided to leave her to live her life.
@@jonasquinn7977 Blond hair, ability to manipulate rocks and the earth, references to royalty (the hair clip), her hero name and actual name being VERY similar... Literally the only thing they didn't do was give her an accent.
Calvin is correct!Terra is Princess Tara Markov, Geo-Force`s baby sister,Geo-Force was also an honorary Titan in the "Teen Titans Go" tie-in comics which provided a wee bit more backstory for Terra and it`s about as tragic as you can imagine!
15:10 Don't tease me like that. Blind Wave '90s TMNT reaction!!? Her voice sounding familiar clicked for me soon as Elle from Last of Us was mentioned. Terra and her arc was one of my favorites when I originally watched Teen Titans. I like her character design, too.
I'm sure others have said this before me, but just in case, this is Terra's first introduction to both the Teen Titans and Slade. She's never met either before this. That conversation with Slade in the cave was the first time they met, and he was attempting to get inside her head like he tried to do with Robin before.
I get that Terra has trauma for not controlling herself and is going through teenager mindset moments but still, the fact that she didn't realize it was pretty obvious she couldn't control her powers? Lord no XD. Its like if my friend told me they had an eating disorder but swore secrecy. But when they are at a dinner at my friends place they immediately excuse themselves to vomit it all out in the bathroom right next to where we eat XD. And we all hear it happening. We mention it and they get all "You PrOMiSED not to tell!!" Like Gurl, it was so obvious XD.
Terra is from the comics and is specifically remembered for the most well-known Titans comic book storyline “The Judas Contract” which this season is a VERY loose adaptation of.
It's the same one from young justice, though this one version is a bit more accurate to the original comics version (and also not, I'll get into the differences one the terra arc gets further along). In the comics, they first meet her as a runaway from markovia, as tara markov is the princess. Her and her brothers are all meta humans with different earth based powers. Her brother, geo force, joins the first version of batman's the outsiders to find her somewhere in america, where he believes she's been kidnapped (iirc she was, but she escaped on her own). There's a mystery about why she didn't contact geo force or anyone else from her homeland, but she adamantly refuses to talk about anything that happened to her between her time in markovia and her joining the titans, citing trauma. Raven has her suspicions, especially since terra avoids her as much as possible, but beast boy (changeling in the comics) is head over heels and the rest of the titans more or less trust her. After she joins the new teen titans, she reunites with her brother in a new teen titans & the outsiders crossover story.
I watched this show like Idk how many times, but I just noticed the parallel between BBTerra and BBREA! O.O Wow!! Like! Terra and BB sitting on those rocks, the area seems pretty similar to the spot BB and Raven were, granted, he probs went there becuz of this moment with Terra, but Raven still sat there with him, which is a nice parallel!! Then there was that “Aren’t you coming?” And “Helloooo, we gotta go” or Whatever he said to Raven, can’t completely remember at the moment! But the parallels!!!👀👀👀👀👀 And I’m a BBREA shipper soooo, I definitely love the parallels! X333
Without a doubt my favorite character in the series. Here she is portrayed as a tragic character, her problems and outcome are the product of insecurities and a troubled past (although it is never specified what happened to her, beyond what Slade insinuates). In my opinion, a far superior character than her original comic book version, where she is simply a psycho b*tch.
@@thespectaculargamernerd8114 cause that Deathstroke was a creep who got off on it and manipulated her. This Slade while much eviler is much more likable since they didn't do that and thanks to Ron Perlman who voices Slade and the Lich from Adventure Time and he's Hellboy.
@@wyattchandler7490 He was just manipulating her and fooling her right? He didn't really want to bang her? I do think the cartoon gave the best version of the comic that isn't creepy. Although Slade in the cartoon does get kinda creepy with Raven.
@@thespectaculargamernerd8114 Nah, they really banged. They retconned that few years ago; in current continuity Terra still wanted to have sex with Slade, but he wasn't into that at all. He kissed her once, but only because he needed her for his plan
Ashley is technically one of the main cast of CR, but it wasn't until recently her schedule allowed her to actually be on it for more than a couple weeks at a time.
"At what point in the series do you think we'll see beast boy's last best transformation?" oh, you have seen NOTHING yet. Wait till you get to the episode where he TRULY lives up to the "beast" part of his name...
Terra and Rose/Ravager are different characters in The Comics but they took a bit of Rose and the second Terra`s characters from the Comics to make Tara Markov on The Show more sympathetic than her original "Judas Contract" counterpart who was described by creators Marv Wolfman and George Perez as "an evil Kitty Pryde", was much more tomboyish, engaged in underaged chainsmoking and had a very problematic in the "MeToo" era and for that matter any era relationship with Slade/Deathstroke which is alluded to in the show but thankfully not expanded on to the extent of The Comics and Later Adaptations.
Now this is the Terra I like, I hated Terra on the Judas Contract movie, it was an awful character there, her being evil because she wanted Deathstroke's D... was both creepy since she was a child and stupid.
Even though in most media I see where Beast Boy and Raven are a couple, here I believe that Terra is his definative girlfriend. Never saw much of the other animated films or shows to comment on them on if she showed up again and it flourish even further.
Terra is a character from the comics. She was member of the Titans in the 80's, she is the sister of Brion aka Geo Force, and was one of the main focuses of the Judas Contract story line. Also most definitely NOT Slade's daughter. In the comics they have a...complicated relationship lol
While I never really had a problem with the Beast Boy X Raven ship, I never was able to really get into it, at least not in comparison to the Robin X Starfire ship. I definitely buy their friendship but there was never anything that made me need to see them as a romantic couple. By contrast I think Beast Boy and Terra had a lot more chemistry between them and felt like the more natural couple. I know there's the whole "opposites attract" trope that even I have couples I like that it applies to, but usually there's still a middle ground of things they have in common and their opposite traits compliment each other. I get that with Robin and Starfire but BB and Raven don't really have that much overlap. It feels like one would really have to change a lot to be a better match for the other.
It’s because in reality opposites don’t actually attract. What makes or breaks a relationship is communication and whether or not you can look past your partner’s differences. The more differences there are the harder it is to look past them, while the more similarities there are the easier it is to look past them. This bar is higher for romantic relationship and lower for friendships You’ll also notice that wether similar or different characters in lasting relationships become more similar over time in order for the relationship to survive. Thereby eliminating them being opposites Some people pair up Beast Boy and Raven because they see their friendship and believe it would translate romantically. However because the show doesn’t go in that direction and gives no supporting evidence it’s little more than head cannon which is why others find it so hard to buy into
The problem is you think there is logic behind shipper when most of them don't put any logic or evidence. They will draw their own comics write their own stories with out any regard for the characters just because it's cute. Nothing else matters to them
Hey, Blindwave It's typical of comics as well as TV shows to take creative liberties with characters: Terra is one such case. As, she is very different from Teen Titans and in Young Justice. I find, that which ever version a person has seen, that is their basis for the character, and despise any alterations from that formulation, even if it closer mirrors the true version from the comics. I'm dancing around details, and will just say, beware of spoilers in the comments, for I'm positive debates will rage on such (spoiler heavy) topics.
Part of me blames Robin for opening his big mouth about Terra control problems, but like you guys said, it's pretty obvious and Terra might've overreacted a bit. Like she didn't even notice the neither Robin or the other had no problem with her lack of control.
@@matthewletexier is that so? Then I guess it's never been edited in before. I wouldn't know because Ive never watched full length alongside blind wave before. But I do watch all of their RU-vid reactions (as long as it's of a show I've already seen of course)
