I always liked the conversation Cyborg and Starfire had about his true self.

I do think the Cyborg/Brother Blood arc episodes are really underrated. I liked Cyborg getting to have his own archenemy who actually wasn't a completely obvious choice. Especially in the comics his big villain typically tends to be someone like Grid, which makes sense but after a while it just gets kind of boring because it's usually the same story over and over again. But Brother Blood is a mastermind headmaster/cult leader who starts becoming obsessed with Cyborg because he can't control him like he can everyone else. It's a more interesting dynamic than just Cyborg facing off against his literal machine half, especially because, while it does still explore the themes of how much man or machine he really is, there actually is more to the story for Cyborg than just that! Themes of growing up and trying to be his own man. Not that it's the best story season (obviously I love season 4's more) but I feel like it really got me invested in Cyborg as a character more than any other media he's appeared in has.

Cyborg's hologram human form is, as he states, "the original version", namely his human appearance form before his accident: Victor Stone. When Cyborg removes his rings and says "Goodbye, Stone", it may very well also be the moment where he puts his former life as a "normal" human being behind him for good. The title is meant to relate to Cyborg going undercover in the Hive Academy and deceiving Brother Blood and the students. Raven willingly chose to have fun in this episode, making Cyborg face initiation all over again. Originally, Starfire and Cyborg were meant to go undercover together until the writers decided that the story worked better if Cyborg went alone. In this episode, we see Cyborg as a real human being as what he looked like before his accident. During the H.I.V.E. "initiation" (which is more like hazing) ritual in which Jinx, Gizmo, and Mammoth make Cyborg carry Jinx's books for her all day while wearing a pink dress, Mammoth also mentions that Cyborg must eat the unicycle which Mammoth shows him (see quote above). It could be theorized that Cyborg did indeed eat the unicycle, as he is shown in the later episode "Crash" to be able to eat and digest just about anything. Brother Blood looks a little like Warp when the Titans fall through the trapdoor and lights turn on. In Robin's fight with Cyborg, he wields what appears to resemble eskrima sticks. This is most likely a reference to Nightwing's signature weapon. Part of Cyborg's cover story, while at the H.I.V.E. Academy, is that a mad scientist created him, which he awkwardly announces to the entire cafeteria. This is in reference to Cyborg's comic book origin, where his father, ex-STAR Labs scientist Silas Stone, outfitted his body with cybernetics to heal him after an accident.

It just took me this long to realize, Brother Blood can't make Cyborg normal, but he can make a psychic illusion to make Cyborg feel normal.

As much as I love Slade, he can't be the main baddie every season. Similar to the Borg from Star Trek, the more times we watch the character be defeated the less threatening they become. Thankfully, there are some terrific standalones this season including a clever integration of Slade.

I feel like a lot of people didn't like Brother Blood as a villain in this show but I loved him. Now sure compared to the likes of Slade he does kinda fall short but Deathstroke is such a tough act to follow for any villain. I always loved Cult Leader villains and I think having Blood in this show is really cool. Season 3 I feel is not given as much credit. Probably because of how weird a Cyborg vs Brother Blood story seems at first glance but I think they handle it really well. Also I just really love Cyborg. As a kid he was the first black superhero I saw on screen and that was cool for me, I always pretended to be Cyborg.

Not to keep ragging on Titans (though I will) but I honestly cannot remember ever getting a scene from that anywhere even close to the stuff between Cyborg and Starfire in this episode, or imagine that it's happened since in season 3. You know, actual maturity while still being very heartfelt. Honestly, I think you could argue Cyborg is kind of the heart of the entire team, if for no other reason then that I think he connects more with all the other members more than anyone else. They all connect with one another to an extent but Cyborg especially has these emotional moments and close friendships with every member of the Titans. With Starfire you got here and in "Troq", with Raven you got the car episode and him comforting her in "Go!", his general friendship with Beast Boy, and the dynamic with him and Robin. Heck, he so naturally slips into a leadership role whenever Robin is gone or emotional compromised. He's like everyone's big brother.

I just wish Cyborg's season arc had been more evident throughout the Season like Robin and Terra's had been.

The missing person on the milk carton was the original HIVE Headmistress from "Final Exam" in Season One.

I'm going to be honest to the majority of you, but I never realized that was John DiMaggio providing the voice of Brother Blood when I first watched this episode and Brother Blood's later appearances considering that I always associate John voicing characters that are either down-to earth, jokester or Strong Muscular characters such as Jake the Dog _(Adventure Time),_ Bender _(Futurama),_ and The Scotsman _(Samurai Jack;_ which you should react to the show sometime) and when it comes to the villains that John DiMaggio tends to voice they usually are humorous to over the top/campy characters such as Hak Foo _(Jackie Chan Adventures)_ Hannibal McFist _(Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja)_ and Dr. Drakken _(Kim Possible)._ Now granted, he has voiced serious characters such as Marcus Phoenix from the _Gears of War_ series and especially his performance as The Joker from _Batman: Under the Red Hood,_ but those were released after his time voicing Brother Blood from _Teen Titans._

Re-watching this episode again years later I just realized the pun in his name, “Stone.” That’s awesome.

There’s some sadness with Cyborg punching his hologram self over and over. Just goes to show how much he hates it. At the end when he says goodbye Stone hits so hard for me.

Jinx has always been my favourite teen titans character, I can’t wait for lightspeed

I love the part when Cyborg is in human form posing and flexing in the mirror. As us gym goers and weight lifters know, we all like to do stuff like that LOL. I bet Aaron does it since he's freaking beefy nowadays. But I also like the moments with Starfire and Cyborg in this episode too. Unlike most versions of Cyborg, this version never got to finish high school and do normal teenager stuff. Starfire is basically saying while she may not had known him before his accident, she still loves him and accepts him for who he is. What a great start for season 3.

Starfire: I prefer the original you Cyborg: this was the original me. That scene always gets me. You can feel how much the change still affects cyborg after all this time

I could never forget Jynx, bc she was the most OP character on the Cartoon Network websites Teen Titans fighting game. lol

He’s one of those VAs that does a good job of keeping his different voices distinct enough where the similarities aren’t immediately or easily noticeable Another VA who’s good at this is Kyle Hebert his Aizen voice is unrecognisable compared to his Kamina voice or his Adult Gohan voice

This episode is a great start to Cyborg’s arc! It was really impressive seeing Cyborg as a human (even if it was a hologram) with the name Stone being inspired by his own real name. Also, John DiMaggio killed it as Brother Blood (he’s one of my favorite voice actors, and I got to meet him a few years ago)!

There are certain Parts of different episodes that I can never look at the same do to some *Fan Animations*. This is one of them.

I completely forgot about the existence of this episode! Got to love Cyborg.

This episode is Brother Blood's first appearance in the series. Many other characters that appear later on (Angel, Billy Numerous, See-More, I.N.S.T.I.G.A.T.O.R., Kyd Wykkyd, XL Terrestrial, Wrestling Star, Bumblebee) also make brief cameo appearances, though none have dialogue. Cyborg states that he was able to resist Blood brainwashing him, because half of his brain is electronic. However, in "Titans East - Part 2", he declares his human spirit to be what allows him to resist the madman's mind control. This was not the case in "Mother Mae-Eye" where he is under the control of the titular character. The milk carton on "Stone's" lunch tray features a MISSING section with a photograph of the Headmistress from "Final Exam".

Goddammit guys. You sent my mind down a rabbit hole about whether the TMNT are considered teenagers in turtle years. I guess some turtles can outlive us, idk what species the TMNT are and how much the ooze affected their life span.

This is my favorite episode. Cyborg's relationship with Jinx should've been played up more. Unfortunately, not only did that not happen, but she also ended up with Kid Flash out of nowhere at the last second.
