Actually Derek’s family were born as werewolves, so Derek was not bitten by anyone.

I *NEED* people to understand that Gerard not only blind Deucalion and kill all the werewolves, but his own people who were willing to work towards peace. Not only did he kill his own people but he did it with a bat with the claws of killed werewolves attached so he could blame the werewolves for attacking first.

And it was what inspired Deucalion to kill Ennis, he killed ennis to blame it on the beacon hills werewolves and add fuel to the fire, he knew it would work because he had literally suffered the consequences of Gerard doing it in the past

@@samanthanicole282k you know I never put that together. I thought it was more of Deucalion doesn’t accept losers, with the added bonus of gaining power and pissing off Kali to make it Derek’s problem.

@@mizixy9624 my only thing about Gerard that I don’t understand is his relationship with his children. Gerard, as an archetype, seems to fit the bill of someone who values/trusts men more, he just looks mysoginistic in that old belief that women don’t make good warriors type shit, so I never understood that even in flashbacks we see Chris and Gerard at a different moral standing wouldn’t it be more plausible that the only son would mimic the patriarchal family member? The only thing that kind of makes sense as to why he chose to make kate his little evil disciple is if he just sees women as easier to manipulate cause he tried with Allison too, but even that doesn’t explain him never trying to get Chris to behave that way (I make this assumption because Chris seemed shocked and disgusted by Gerard’s plan in season 2 with the kanima)

@@samanthanicole282k I think what stopped him was the Argent’s code of being a matriarchal line. So, Gerard knew he’d never actually have or be in power, so he wants to get an in and be the puppet master for those who could be in power later. A little fan theory I had is that Gerard was responsible for his wife or mother’s death - whoever was the leader before Victoria - because she couldn’t be manipulated or controlled.

Jackson's eyes were blue when he turned from kanima to wolf too, cause he killed people as a kanima, when you kill someone, no matter if they are good or bad, your eyes turn blue

Automatically killing doesn't change the eyes unless the werewolf genuinely feels bad about it. If the wolf doesn't give a shit abt who they kill it wont change.

Peter’s eyes are blue, when and who did he kill? There’s a fan theory that during the Hale fire, he killed the children so they wouldn’t have to suffer. Like, can you imagine a werewolf child suffocating/burning, then healing a bit, only to experience it again?

@@kaivdm04 eh, but isn’t it in killing an innocent? Since he believed they deserved to die in his vendetta for his family’s murder, he may not have felt any guilt. Though, the janitor that was killed during the episode Night School had nothing to do with the fire and could be the reason his eyes changed when he lost the alpha powers.

Personally I think Peter's eyes are most likely blue from killing Laura Hale before the beginning of season 1 in order to steal the Alpha powers from her. But your fan theory is awesome!

No Jeff Davis confirmed he’s killed multiple innocent people before he was turned alpha and still going crazy during full moons.Also he was a killer which is gonna bring the blue eyes. He killed the bus driver and the janitor when Peter locked Scott and everyone in the school. And I remember in season 3 Scott told the dark Druid he would kill her and he didn’t care what color his eyes turned, insinuating you might just have to kill or be a killer to change your eyes

Well I have a theory. Derek is around 15/16 in these flashbacks. We know Derek made it to senior year (the library initial thing) so the fire must’ve happened some time after that. The fire happened six years before the first season. So Derek would’ve been around 24 in the first season.

@@kaivdm04 some like to theorize that he came back to Beacon Hills during his senior year to sneak his initials … then there’s the joke that the initials weren’t even his because he wasn’t even there for his senior year lol. I like to think that Derek was 20 almost 21 during Season 1, but that’s just a me thing. Like initially, there was supposed to be a love corner between Scott, Allison and Derek before they decided to scrap it, so Derek was supposed to be younger at first.

well he's 15 in these flashbacks and we know he would've been older than that, but still in high school when the fire happened, and i believe the fire was about 6 years prior to the first season so my guess is he was around 17 or 18 at the time of the fire and is therefore 23 or 24 in the first season

Personally I think Peter's eyes are most likely blue from killing Laura Hale before the beginning of season 1 in order to steal the Alpha powers from her. Not because of the people he killed during the course of season 1 because he already said he didn't feel bad about it since he only targeted people who had contributed (directly or indirectly) to the death of his family (bus driver, videoshack manager, Mr. Harris, etc. they were all used in Kate's plan to set the Hale house on fire)

One of my favorite episodes of this season and this show. Peter in season 1 was going around killing people i think that's what changed the color of his eyes. And Jackson also had blue eyes after he became a werewolf after Matt made him kill people.

Good freaking episode, definitely not a filler, because you learn important things about Deucalion and Deaton as well. Loved the backstory, you need this to understand the irony of things that happen later. I would never trust Gerard (or Peter) to tell me the truth, ever! This episode just makes you hate Gerard even more I feel like.

Yeah, there’s two theories. One, it was shortly after Paige’s death and Derek was just trying to forget Paige to forget the pain and jumped in with Kate. The other, was that he truly loved Kate, thought that she was a second chance and was honest with her to try and correct his mistake with Paige of keeping the werewolf secret.

@@mizixy9624 Pretty sure Kate was a substitute teacher who saw Derek as vulnerable because of the loss of his girlfriend so she decided to use him as a way to get to the other werewolves, so she manipulated him into loving her.

Dereks whole family were werewolves, I’m pretty sure his parents were so he was born one and not bitten. And yes you take a life and your eyes turn blue, jacksons eyes were blue when he turned into a wolf because he had killed people as the kanima. And peter killed people in season 1 when he was the alpha! The end of the first half of seaason 3 is my all time favorite so can’t wait to see how you feel about it!😁

1-Only some of Derek's family were werewolves (I'm pretty sure he had cousins who died in the fire that were human?) but yes his parents were werewolves so he was born as a werewolf 2-A werewolf's eyes only turn blue if they kill an innocent person, so if a yellow-eyed werewolf kills a blue-eyed werewolf, then they will still have yellow eyes, however a True Alpha doesn't form if the werewolf has killed anyone, innocent or not 3-Season 3 was my favorite season in general, too

Loved this episode so much, DEREK will always be GOAT! Omega has nothing to do with eyes, all werewolves have yellow eyes (only ALPHA has RED eyes), then if an werewolves kills an innocent person then the eyes turn BLUE! Omega just means a werewolf without a pack, alone wolf! So you have ALPHA wolf with his pack of BETAs and wolfs with no pack aka OMEGAs! 😍

Yes, the Lycaon story is correct. If you read the Percy Jackson books, Lycaon does appear, and does give us a bit of information about it. Really interesting, Greek Mythology is.

Spoiler I totally thought that after this episode Paige was either going to turn out to be the darach or show up later as something else at some point. Instead Jennifer was the darach, Paige never shows up again, and Derek continues to have terrible luck with love interests.

I honestly just adore that s3A has the whole druids and mythology aspect to it since as someone with a celtic heritage I get happy when people even know the word Triskel or what it looks like lmao it's just really cool to have more people being introduced to your folklore and stories like the whole Zeus turning humans into wolves so they seeked druids haha it's one of many myths i would be told during solstices (a very important day in celtic culture that happens twice every year one is during summer the other is during winter and usually we do traditional festivals with a lot of dancing, drinking, singing and story telling ^^)

Love this episode so much! Such a different feel but also so vital for the story! Knowing what the blue eyes means pains me. Especially rewatching and seeing Jackson with those eyes because of him being forced to kill as the Kanima. I also love hearing this story from two of the most manipulative people on the show (Gerard and Peter) and seeing how they twist it. Sometimes I wonder if Peter ever feels bad that he essentially killed Derek’s love. It also is nice to see past Derek and understand why he tried to keep Scott away from Allison (he didn’t want him to get hurt). Derek and Alaric should be in the same group for men with horrible dating luck. I always loved Derek’s blue eyes but when I watched this my heart just broke. Yes all that mythology is true. Or at least true in the sense that yes that the mythological origin of werewolves. Jeff Davis uses actual mythology and legends as source material which is one of the main reasons I love this show so much!

It’s believed that blue eyes means the killing of an innocent was made because Jeff got made that fans guessed first blue meant born wolves, then blue meant omega.

Weren't blue eyes supposed to be specific to the Hales at first? Jackson was supposed to be Peters son originally, but he left so they had to figure out a different reason for them and him to have blue eyes.
